Welcome to my podcast! Here I talk about me and my hubby's journey on recovering from addiction (drugs, pornography, SLA) while maintaining hope and optimism. I also have podcasts about healing from Relational Trauma (aka CPTSD) and how I healed from anxiety/depression, and abuse. I hope you'll join me (and my dogs) as I share my journey to help others not make the same mistakes I did.
Feel free to email me with suggested topics or questions. I may not be an expert but I'm happy to share my experiences with you. Have a beautiful day. You deserve it!
Today I'm continuing on with the series on my experience with Relational Trauma. This episode focuses on avoidance. As usual, I ramble on and on and on and, well, you get the idea. I hope this will help you feel less alone if you're experiencing any of the things that I describe. Please pardon my voice and need to edit. I caught a bit of a sore throat while away.
What started as, “I need to get high so I can release some stress” or “I need to get high so I can avoid these feelings” has now become “I need to get high because I don’t know how to manage my stress or these emotions unless I do” ....but we CAN learn how to make positive changes!
Have you ever heard of emotional sobriety? Neither did I until I began my journey into a healthy recovery. I'll share a bit about what I learned. If you have any questions, please let me know! (Please forgive the barking dog...and me having to record part of this in my bathroom because of said barking dog. He's still the best dog in all the land!) As always, have a fantastic week. You deserve it!
It's important to be able to stand on our own and work as a team too. For us, it also helped to have have three recoveries: mine, his, and then our relationship when I was ready. Was it easy? Heck no! But it was important for me to learn how to be strong again.
I'm the chick with no degree but lots of experience and optimism when it comes to the world of addiction. I'm also the chick with barking dogs, lots of pauses, and a ton of "um's" and "ah's" so kick back, relax, and please let me know if you have any questions. Have a beautiful week. You deserve it!
