#115 Easy ways to make your website more accessible & user friendly
In this episode I am walking you through some free and fairly simple ways in which you can make your website easier to access and navigate. This matters because it helps build more inclusive digital spaces, but it also saves time, is more eco-friendly and makes it easier to make connections and grow your business.

#114 I made it to year 10 - so what makes a business resilient?
In this episode I am talking honestly about what helped me feel resilient & confident in my work, about things I had to learn the hard way and about how it all comes down to wearing "elevated lounge wear" every day. I name 10 specific things that made all the difference when it comes to weathering the ups and downs of building and running a small business - I hope they will be helpful for you too.

#113 How having too many offerings might harm your business
In this episode I'm talking about four different ways I have often seen, in my own and other people's businesses, that too many offerings can actually be harmful to your success (of your own understanding!). Absolutely no shame if you are, like me, so excited about all the things and ideas and projects you could be working on - this is just a space to think through wether cutting back a little might feel good.

#112 Thoughts on running a social media free business in 2024
In this episode I'm talking about why I still feel glad not to be on social media, what I am doing to build & nurture community around my work this year and what I wish all of us would remember when we're feeling overwhelmed, not good enough or irrelevant while the world is on fire.
I hope this episode feels like a nice sounding board to check on on your own decisions around the use of technology.

I hope this episode will give you some inspiration and ideas for creating a supportive structure around your content strategy. In this episode I am sharing about the benefits, downsides and key considerations for a membership, subscription or Patreon model as part of your business. #107 Making work work for our neurodivergent brains
In this episode I am sharing some questions, tips and tricks that have helped me make work work for my neurodivergent brain in more joyful and sustainable ways. I recently talked about this with a client and it's something that I think is on a lot of people's minds these days. We're probably gonna spend a large chunk of our lives working, so I just feel it's really important to make that as enjoyable as it can possibly be.
Broadly I am covering some important questions to ask yourself, ways to increase creative flow states, hold better boundaries, plan ahead & embrace imperfection.
Enjoy!

#104 Tracing our creative & "career" stories to find confidence
In this episode I am sharing some observations about confidence, consistency and creative freedom I've made in the last few years. I think the imposter syndrome many of us feel often comes from a place of not feeling proud of past choices we've made or not being able to see a clearly defined path from past to future within our livelihood. If you know what I am talking about, I hope this episode will help you feel more self-compassion and get clear on what always has and always will be true for you and your work!

#102 How is AI changing the world for small businesses?
In this episode I am wondering out loud what advances in technology might mean for us - for the way we share and create and for the way we work and collaborate with each other. I know there is a lot of anxiety and uncertainty in the air around how AI might impact creatives, so if you want to make some space to explore your own thoughts I really hope this episode will offer you some space to do just that.
I don't think it's all doom & gloom at all, but I think it's important that we are active agents who shape tech culture rather than passive consumers who just hand over all their data to big tech.
As always, thank you for listening!

#98 Finding evidence of your success
We're nearing a hundred episodes! In this one I am sharing why I think it's so important to intentionally look for evidence of your resilience, creativity and success. In a world that is endlessly distracting and competitive it can be way to easy to feel too slow or not good enough, but when we shift our attention we can also shift that feeling of always being behind.
I hope listening will make you feel warm, fuzzy and good about yourself.

#96 Brand photography & mental health in business with Anna of Studio Gently
This episode was an absolute joy to record - I spoke to the wonderful Anna of Studio Gently, who recently took my picture. Having this conversation and working with Anna as a brand photographer has really changed the way I feel about being seen and telling stories with my work. I feel more proud and excited about what I do and I am so grateful for Anna's incredibly ability to make people comfortable. Here is some of what we talked about:
- Getting comfortable with being seen
- Building a business that supports your mental health
- Navigating times of stress while gently staying in touch with our creativity
- Preparing for a photoshoot
Anna is an Edinburgh-based brand photographer working with creative kin across the UK. She loves helping even the shyest clients feel comfortable on camera, and when she's not shooting, you'll probably find her cosied up under a blanket with a fave magazine.

#95 Creative overwhelm and the two list exercise
In this episode I am revisiting a golden tool that I've loved and worked with for many years. It comes up in almost every workshop I offer and folks seem to really love it because it's so simple and yet so practical and illuminating. If you are feeling overwhelmed with too many ideas you could be working on right now, please give this one a listen.
Being full of ideas is beautiful and means we're fully alive, we just have to put a few structures in place to make sure we have the right priorities.

#93 My marketing strategy for 2023
In this episode I am taking you behind the scenes of my own marketing plan - it's sweet and simple and it really works for me. I'm sharing what my main focus is, what I'll be tweaking and doing differently this year and what I do instead of being on social media to grow my community.
I mentioned the marketing immersion coming up in April: https://pinkwellstudio.com/marketing-immersion/
as well as my re-launched Patreon: https://www.yarrowmagdalena.com/practice/

#92 Building a newsletter in ethical ways
In this episode I am sharing practical tips and strategies to grow your newsletter list. Starting with why you want to grow it and thinking about what you want to write about, how and how often, we'll then think about how to manage expectations, communicate transparently and make it super easy for people to sign up. I am also sharing some thoughts about the pros and cons of incentives that might be helpful!

#91 Making space for changing interests and identities in your business
In this episode I am taking about how we can make space for exploration and change in our work. We're often told to "be a brand" or choose a niche, but we're also humans whose interests and identities will naturally change over time.
Sometimes it makes sense to commit and go all in and sometimes the best investment you can make in yourself is to allow yourself time to play and try different things on. Tune in for some insightful questions to ask yourself and some practical considerations to look at before you decide to pivot, commit or play.

#90 Are you in a growth, maintenance or transition phase?
Happy new year!
In this episode I am exploring a framework that has been hugely helpful for me - it allows me to orient myself in the seasons of my business and to make better and clearer decisions. Untangling ourselves from the myth of endless linear growth is not easy, but so worth it! I also talked about how to bring appreciation and care to your livelihood regardless or where you're at right now and shared some tips about dealing with financial anxiety.

#84 Exploring our unique roadmaps through human design with Victoria Jane
I'm so happy to get a chance to send an interview your way, something I know I haven't done in a while. I really loved talking to Victoria Jane and our conversation reminded me of the importance of getting to know yourself in your work. We wear a lot of different hats and make hundreds of big and small decisions and I think that tools such as human design can help us think with more clarity about our strength and needs. Here is some of what we talked about:
Truly getting to know ourselves
Trusting organic cycles of creation
Utilising human design to better understand our strength and challenges
Understanding the patterns in our energy, creativity and need for rest
Developing self-trust to meet imposter syndrome
Victoria is a human design coach whose mission is to guide growth-oriented humans to live with less hustle and more flow. After a decade in Silicon Valley achieving everything she thought she was supposed to, Victoria was earthquaked into the harsh reality: she was burnt out and in danger of doing serious damage to her health. As she searched for how to heal not just her body, but her spirit, she discovered her design. Today, she is passionate about sharing Human Design so you can confidently live your truth.

#76 Finding the right business model
I've really loved the virtual weekend retreat I ran recently - one of the workshops we did was about finding the right business model, so I wanted to record an episode on this in case that's useful for you too.
I think ideally you want to find a way to work that makes you feel like a fish in the water, a way that meets your needs, suits your abilities and offers something meaningful to your communities, but obviously that can be easier said than done. In this episode I am sharing three different angles from which you can find the right model, some important questions to ask yourself and a bit of background on how I arrived at my current business model mix.
Here is more information about the business community I mention in the beginning: pinkwellstudio.com/livelihood-community/

#72 Systems and design that support your work as well as your wellbeing with Ellie McBride
I am sorry it's been a little while since I've sent another episode your way. This is a really wonderful interview to return with - I spoke to Ellie McBride, someone who is as passionate about design and systems as I am. Here is some of what we covered:
Getting clear on your ideal business set up
Building systems that support your work, wellbeing and visions
The future of web design and bringing humanity back into design
Simplifying things for better everyday flow
I’m Ellie McBride, an American expat living in Northern Ireland since 2017. After moving across the world to be with my Northern Irish husband, I struggled to find the flexibility to spend much time back at my other home in Oregon to see my friends and family. In this quest for flexibility, I realized building an online business from the ground up is the way to have everything I’ve ever wanted in life.
I started out as a freelancer back in 2018. As a tech Virtual Assistant, I worked online with business owners in areas like social media planning, creating slick systems and automations, and perfecting their email marketing systems. However, I soon realized many of my clients struggled with the same: Having a beautiful and highly functional website to communicate with their community and open up their time for the tasks that truly needed their attention. Now I use the skills and tools I learned from my days as a VA in my work as a Squarespace website designer to help create a solid backbone for your business with systems that connect to your website and grant you the freedom to let go of repetitive tasks and focus on the work you’re truly excited about.
My goal? To give you a beautiful home on the web for your message and your work all while helping make your work more efficient. I serve women who own small businesses and are building them from the ground up by creating beautiful, functional websites with built in time-saving systems. Sounds like you? #70 Demystifying conversion rates
in this episode I am sharing about conversion rates - what they are, why they matter and how we might rethink them in a way that isn't extractive or manipulative. Thinking about conversion rates can really help you find the right business model, create a sustainable marketing plan and share/market/pollinate in a way that doesn't feel icky.
I hope this episode is helpful and I'd love to hear what you think! Also, please leave a review if you have a second? Thank you so much!

#69 Creatively moving through discomfort in business with Laura Holway
welcome to November! I don't know how this happened, but we are nearing the end of the year. All I want is to listen to wonderful conversations like this one with Laura Holway. I want to hear stories of resilience and adaptation from other creative businesses and celebrate all of us for being brave and smart and bold. If you feel the same, this is for you. Here is some of what we talked about:
Moving through discomfort and uncertainty while building a small business
Working with limitations and embracing imperfection
Our bodies as sources of business-wisdom
Finding our own way with marketing and letting go of unconscious stories of what it should look like
Laura Holway is a coach, teacher, and dance artist dedicated to helping creative humans grow nourishing businesses and satisfying lives. Her approach integrates reflection and embodiment practices, very human marketing, and experimentation. Laura is excited about karaoke, cooking, gardening metaphors, and parenting her curious 6-year-old.
