#107 Making work work for our neurodivergent brains

#107 Making work work for our neurodivergent brains

In this episode I am sharing some questions, tips and tricks that have helped me make work work for my neurodivergent brain in more joyful and sustainable ways. I recently talked about this with a client and it's something that I think is on a lot of people's minds these days. We're probably gonna spend a large chunk of our lives working, so I just feel it's really important to make that as enjoyable as it can possibly be.

Broadly I am covering some important questions to ask yourself, ways to increase creative flow states, hold better boundaries, plan ahead & embrace imperfection.

Enjoy!

#104 Tracing our creative & "career" stories to find confidence

In this episode I am sharing some observations about confidence, consistency and creative freedom I've made in the last few years. I think the imposter syndrome many of us feel often comes from a place of not feeling proud of past choices we've made or not being able to see a clearly defined path from past to future within our livelihood. If you know what I am talking about, I hope this episode will help you feel more self-compassion and get clear on what always has and always will be true for you and your work!

#102 How is AI changing the world for small businesses?

#102 How is AI changing the world for small businesses?

In this episode I am wondering out loud what advances in technology might mean for us - for the way we share and create and for the way we work and collaborate with each other. I know there is a lot of anxiety and uncertainty in the air around how AI might impact creatives, so if you want to make some space to explore your own thoughts I really hope this episode will offer you some space to do just that.

I don't think it's all doom & gloom at all, but I think it's important that we are active agents who shape tech culture rather than passive consumers who just hand over all their data to big tech.

As always, thank you for listening!

#95 Creative overwhelm and the two list exercise

In this episode I am revisiting a golden tool that I've loved and worked with for many years. It comes up in almost every workshop I offer and folks seem to really love it because it's so simple and yet so practical and illuminating. If you are feeling overwhelmed with too many ideas you could be working on right now, please give this one a listen.

Being full of ideas is beautiful and means we're fully alive, we just have to put a few structures in place to make sure we have the right priorities.

#89 Why perfectionism can cost you money

#89 Why perfectionism can cost you money

Hey friends, this is a short & sweet peptalk episode about doing the thing even if the thing isn't perfect. You probably know what I am talking about - a newsletter, a podcast, a new group offering...it can bring up the intense desire to do it just right. But the secret truth is that you sadly wont ever be able to please everyone anyway, so you might as well give yourself space to play, explore and grow.  I'm sharing some encouragement as well as good questions to ask yourself when you feel stuck. I also invited you to the free virtual retreat coming up in January: https://pinkwellstudio.com/free/ Hopefully see you there! Love, Yarrow

But in our hearts of hearts we all know that endless growth is a harmful capitalist myth.  In this episode I am sharing a few ideas, questions and approaches that I hope will help you to feel more okay when things are not moving forward the way you had hoped.  In case you're listening before September 25th here are also the links to all my back to school sale offerings (50% off my courses, 12 month sliding scale payment plan for the Livelihood Community & pay what you want options for my creative community): https://pinkwellstudio.com/courses/ https://pinkwellstudio.com/livelihood-community/ https://www.yarrowmagdalena.com/creative-portal/ I hope that after listening to this you're feeling a bit better about where you're at right now! #77 Embracing upper and lower limits around money

Hi friends, I'm having this beautiful post breathwork morning glow, the sun is shining outside my window and I'm feeling inspired to talk about money, success, pricing & book keeping after a really good workshop we had in the Livelihood Community last night.  I'm invested in the awkward and sometimes hard work of unshaming how we relate to money and in finding the best possible compromise we can make under capitalism while holding the wildest, most radical visions for the future.  Thank you for being here with me and for listening to my thoughts. I'm sharing some actual numbers around debt and income in this episode and I'm also sharing some tools, questions and ideas that have been helpful for me.  Enjoy!

#72 Systems and design that support your work as well as your wellbeing with Ellie McBride

#72 Systems and design that support your work as well as your wellbeing with Ellie McBride

Hey everyone,
I am sorry it's been a little while since I've sent another episode your way. This is a really wonderful interview to return with - I spoke to Ellie McBride, someone who is as passionate about design and systems as I am. Here is some of what we covered:
Getting clear on your ideal business set up
Building systems that support your work, wellbeing and visions
The future of web design and bringing humanity back into design
Simplifying things for better everyday flow
I’m Ellie McBride, an American expat living in Northern Ireland since 2017. After moving across the world to be with my Northern Irish husband, I struggled to find the flexibility to spend much time back at my other home in Oregon to see my friends and family. In this quest for flexibility, I realized building an online business from the ground up is the way to have everything I’ve ever wanted in life.
I started out as a freelancer back in 2018. As a tech Virtual Assistant, I worked online with business owners in areas like social media planning, creating slick systems and automations, and perfecting their email marketing systems. However, I soon realized many of my clients struggled with the same: Having a beautiful and highly functional website to communicate with their community and open up their time for the tasks that truly needed their attention. Now I use the skills and tools I learned from my days as a VA in my work as a Squarespace website designer to help create a solid backbone for your business with systems that connect to your website and grant you the freedom to let go of repetitive tasks and focus on the work you’re truly excited about.
My goal? To give you a beautiful home on the web for your message and your work all while helping make your work more efficient. I serve women who own small businesses and are building them from the ground up by creating beautiful, functional websites with built in time-saving systems. Sounds like you? #68 Selling like we‘re human with Sarah Santacroce

Hey everyone, thank you for your patience with me! I'm happy to be back and bring you a wonderful conversation with Sarah Santacroce all about re-humanising the way we do business. It's been great to hear Sarah's story, brainstorm ideas for doing things differently and affirm what does and doesn't actually feel good when it comes to marketing. Here is some of what we talked about:  Finding better ways to share our work without compromising our values or being a martyr Inflated prices and why we don't need "gurus" Re-humanising our business practices Finding the right online spaces that suit our businesses and ourselves Sarah Santacroce is changing the current marketing paradigm. 12 years of running a successful LinkedIn Consulting business inspired a yearning in Sarah to create a global movement that encourages people to bring more empathy and kindness to business & marketing. As a ‘Hippie turned Business Coach’, Sarah hosts the Gentle Business Revolution podcast and works with heart-centered entrepreneurs to question their assumptions when it comes to marketing & give them permission to market their business their way, the gentle way! Thought of as an influencer in her field, Sarah is a frequent speaker at conferences and has been featured on many podcasts and radio shows. Some of the most prestigious universities and Business Schools in the world, including Rutgers University New Jersey, HEC Paris, IMD and EPFL Lausanne hire Sarah to train their students for LinkedIn best practices.
