I'm always surprised when I have a bin filled with items for my kids to choose from, 90% of the time they want the rewards where they get to do something or have something that is not materialistic. However you use rewards in your classroom, feel free to add these to your rotations! Some of my students favorites include : teacher assistant, chime / doorbell, and having the teacher chair for the day!

61. Keeping Your Passion Alive in Tough Teaching Years
This episode truly came from the heart after going through the hardest year of teaching last year and coming out on the other side. I cannot express to you how much happier, calmer, and passionate I am this year. Tough years come but they also go and you don't need to let them take away your love. This may be your hard year and I feel for that. It is truly so hard to wake up and have to go into a job that you hate. I have been there believe me. I didn't even know if I would be teaching this year but I fully believe I had to go through that to appreciate all this year has done for me. Keep showing up on the hard days and do what you can but let go of the pressure it has to be perfect all the time. 59. 10 Teacher Habits for 2023
2023 is the year for teachers! I run through 10 habits I think every teacher should have and build upon. It is not realistic or suggested to try to change all 10 of these things right away, start with one and get consistent with it and then add another. I highly suggest reading the book, Atomic Habits, to assist you in reaching these goals for yourself. And make sure to get in our Facebook group!

It's 2023 baby!!! New years always brings about people wanting to lose weight and restart their health journeys. Which is honestly never a bad time. I am taking the time today to share with you some of my tips for beginners who are looking to lose weight. The problem with weight loss is it is so specific and I can't share to everyone's background or goals, so this is some pretty generic but helpful tips to get you started. 57. Finding Balance Through the Holidays
I'm back!!! A few good reminders in here for this season of parties and potlucks. You don't need to diet through the holidays or starve yourself for each of the meals you're going to eat and you sure don't need to 'earn' your food by relentlessly working out. But you also don't need to sabatoge your goals and say screw it and eat all the cookies on the platter just because they're there. It's called balance ;)

54. The Power of Your Thoughts
I'm currently reading, The Law of Attraction, and it has me contemplating a lot of how I've been thinking, talking, and acting towards my goals. I highly suggest getting the book, it's on my Amazon storefront below! As we continue to pursue bigger goals and desire more things, we need to allow our brain to attract them. Which means speaking them into existence and letting go of our doubts. It's not easy but it can be done. There's a ton of exercises in the book to help you do this but one is simply noticing your doubts and correcting your language towards it.

It's Okay If Your Clothes Don't Fit Like They Used To
I grew up always being stick thin and never had to worry about my weight. I was TERRIFIED of the freshman 15 and it got in my head a ton throughout college. Not even really my freshman year but the subsequent years. I got to a place of eating very little and going to the gym daily. I committed myself to going through a bulk for 8 whole months and knew that I needed to put on weight if I wanted to gain any muscle. So I did. And then suddenly none of my clothes fit any more. I don't weigh even close to the same as I did going to college. But I also am more confident and love my body more now than I ever did before.

It's been interesting going from being in the classroom all day to just being...by myself...all the time. I don't think you guys realize how many people us teachers talk to all day and how we are on the go and have to be mentally alert all day every day. I used to get home and be absolutely drained but not now. I just sit by myself and do my work and when Cody gets home I turn it off..sometimes. There's a lot of disadvantages and things I'm working through right now as I work from home because it's a huge adjustment. But it's all good things! Listen to hear all my thoughts!

I realized I have never actually shared my whole journey. I was planning on talking about wedding planning and this took a whole different route!! I just recapped my whole last 8 years for you with some inspiration leaked in there...I hope at least, I'm no motivational speaker. The best and most productive people in the world don't have any more hours in their day than you but they use their time better. I am a full time 4th grade teacher and a full time coach after school. This past week I had some pretty hurtful things said to me and it really stung. In this episode I don't share explicit details surrounding what was said to me but I do talk about how I move through these things so they don't affect me long term. We can sit and wallow in our own self pity surrounding how others make us feel or what they said. Whether they are true or not, it always hurts when someone comments on ourselves or our life. Please give this one a listen and take some of my own advice on how you can continue push forward in times of difficulty. Because at the end of the day, you can't put your happiness on others.
