#62: Matt Lesser: Why Less Is More and the Importance of Intentionality

Matt Lesser started his career leading his family’s struggling business. It quickly failed, and Matt experienced a suicidal depression. Out of the ashes, a new business emerged and grew from three people to nearly two hundred while experiencing a twenty-fold increase in revenue, before selling to trusted competitors. Matt then served in C-Suite roles in private equity, banking, and commercial uniforms before founding Uniquely Normal, LLC, to help leaders build flourishing organizations. Matt is the best-selling author of unSatisfied: When Less is More and has spoken to and facilitated rooms packed with leaders around the world for more than twenty years. Matt’s second book, unEngaged: Building Flourishing Organizations, will be released in late September 2023. Matt lives in northeast Indiana with his family.

In this conversation, Matt and Emeka discuss topics, such as: • Can you explain the concept of "less is more" as it applies to personal and professional development? Why is it relevant in today's fast-paced world?

• How does the pursuit of simplicity and minimalism contribute to a more fulfilling life, both personally and professionally?

• Could you share a personal story where embracing the philosophy of "less is more" led to significant positive changes in your life?

• What are some practical strategies for decluttering and simplifying one's personal and professional life to create more space for growth and fulfillment?

• When it comes to setting goals and priorities, how can one strike a balance between ambition and the "less is more" philosophy?

• Fear of missing out (FOMO) often drives people to overcommit and overconsume. How can we overcome FOMO and embrace a simpler, more focused approach to life and work?

#49: Richard Newman: How an Introverted, Shy & High-Functioning Autistic went on to Teach Advanced Communication Skills to Global Business Leaders

#49: Richard Newman: How an Introverted, Shy & High-Functioning Autistic went on to Teach Advanced Communication Skills to Global Business Leaders

Business leaders all over the world rely on Richard to transform their communication and to speak on the biggest stages. One client won over $1 Billion in new business in one year, using Richard’s techniques. His team has trained 120,000 clients worldwide. But Richard had to learn it all from scratch. Richard is highly introverted. He has high-functioning autism. He was painfully shy as a child.

Aged 18, Richard started his mission to discover the core communication principles. He went to live in the foothills of the Himalayas with Tibetan monks, who spoke no English. They had to communicate non-verbally to understand each other. He then worked as a professional actor, studying how to walk, move and speak to increase his impact on an audience. He became a keynote speaker, coach, author and speechwriter, winning the coveted Cicero Grand Prize for Best Speechwriter of the Year.

Emeka sits down with Richard to talk about "How an Introverted, Shy & High-Functioning Autistic went on to Teach Advanced Communication Skills to Global Business Leaders." Richard’s research on non-verbal communication was published in the Journal of Psychology. His study proved that you can increase your leadership ratings by 44% and win 59% more votes in an election by changing a few simple behaviours.

#30[Video]: Tashima Jones: Building Inner Wealth, Creating Happiness & Living Your Best Life

Tashima Jones is an 7x author and life coach with a focus on inner - wealth. With experience in tech, wealth management marketing, luxury brand buying, and real estate, Tashima's lifework is to equip you with helpful tools on how to have the best of the internal world to truly enjoy external riches.  One of her greatest accomplishments is finding genuine happiness. At her lowest moment (after the degree, house, luxury car, and platinum wedding ring), she discovered her true self and the right way to enjoy physical assets. She holds a bachelor's degree in business and has studied counseling and psychology on a master's level. As an on-air personality, personal development podcast host, and editor-in-chief, Tashima has engaged with therapists, creatives, influencers, entrepreneurs, and millionaires to verify this remarkable truth: that physical abundance does not equate happiness. #30: Tashima Jones: Building Inner Wealth, Creating Happiness & Living Your Best Life

Her coaching methods are for the individual who seems to have it all, yet still feels unfulfilled AND the person who believes that having more will bring greater contentment.

Tashima's debut book, Being Broke Made Me Rich, is likened to Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist and received reviews from the co-author of the New York Times best seller, The Millionaire Next Door (who happened to be her professor). As an on-air personality, personal development podcast host, and editor-in-chief, Tashima has engaged with therapists, creatives, influencers, entrepreneurs, and millionaires to verify this remarkable truth: that physical abundance does not equate happiness.
