The Arab-Israeli Conflict: Explained

Tensions in the Middle East came to a boiling point in 1956. Israel and Egypt were already at odds with one another and, when Egyptian President Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal, he sparked an international crisis that would eventually involve Britain, France, and the United States. 

The War of 1948 resulted in a refugee crisis in the Middle East that we still see the effects of today. In this episode, we examine the lives of Palestinian refugees throughout the Arab world. We also discuss some of the challenges Israel faced as a new nation.
