All about the Enneagram with Drew Newkirk.
Hi Trendsetters! I'm thrilled to bring to you this episode all about the Enneagram, a personality typology that was popularized in the US in the 1970's and had a resurgence in exposure and popularity over the pandemic. In this episode, I bring to you a fellow therapist from NYC, Drew Newkirk, who not only is an expert in the Enneagram but is the exact same type as myself! (4w3 sexual subtype). I found Drew's impressive Enneagram youtube channel when devouring material on the subject over the pandemic, so I knew he would be the perfect guest to bring on to help introduce the Enneagram to all of you.
As you will see in this episode, Drew is extremely well-versed in all things Enneagram. He discusses what exactly it is (no, it's not a pentagram), how it came to be, gives us a brief overview on each of the subtypes, discusses what is meant by the "subtypes" and "wings," and furthermore really delves into why the Enneagram is such a beneficial tool in the journey of self-discovery. Drew shares some of his personal learnings on the Enneagram and how it has helped him on his own journey, and additionally how he uses the Enneagram in his work with his patients within his private practice.

Goodbye Influencers: Hello Genuinfluencers.
Influencers as we once knew them are, well, on their way out. We no longer want to see the curated, highly edited content that falls flat. We want what's real and authentic. Enter Genuinfluencers. As Vogue Business puts it, "Genuinfluencers are more interested in sharing advice, discussing their passions and spreading unbiased information, instead of pushing a new product or collection." The pandemic forced us all to turn inward and do that deep work to reflect on what's most important in life. Turns out, followers and clicks and your latest athleisure set are not enough. We want meaningful conversations. We want posts that make us think. We want engagement on subjects that really matter. Let's discuss all things the rise of Genuinfluencers. And I'm so proud to be one. Now go listen if you want to know what the F is up!!!!

Social Norms for a Post-Pandemic World.
Let's talk social norms in this post-pandemic world we currently inhabit. Should we just blindly accept the same old social norms we once did? The world has changed immensely and we've all had a long time out to delve inward and really consider ourselves, our boundaries and what we want out of life. So why shouldn't we, upon re-integration into society, be questioning certain aspects of how our society operates? Well, in this episode, I start a discussion about certain social norms that I think we ought to call into question. With that said, let's just dive in!
What Therapy is REALLY Like.
Springing into Post-Pandemic Life.
Happy Spring, Trendsetters! It's my fave season (also my birthday season) and I'm SO excited about this warmer weather AND that we are moving in the direction of our world officially re-opening. In this episode, Matt and I sit down to talk to you guys about our feelings entering life post-pandemic. I discuss a theme I'm seeing with my patients, which is this overall panic setting in now that the vaccines are really rolling out about what that signifies moving forward. In other words, I'm talking about the vaccine and mental health. We talk strategies for re-entering the world in a mindful way and how to tune inwards to figure out which things you might be worried about (and what to do about those things once you identify them). That said, enjoy the episode and HAPPY SPRING!!!

You're Not "Too Much."
There's a problem in society - we label women (and men) as "too much" or "a lot" just for being their full selves. In this episode, I talk about why people use these phrases, what they might really mean, and why you shouldn't take it personally. You're not "too much," you are just enough and if anyone can't handle you at your full self - that's their problem!

In this episode, we talk about that very over-used phrase "be nice." Oh yeah, there's also "kindness is cool" and a ton of other iterations of those phrases. And I'm here to talk about what it really means to be "nice," how overusing these terms can be extremely detrimental (to all beings but especially women in our society), and why we need to get more specific about what we really mean (no pun intended). I hope you enjoy and, oh yeah, be real.
