I originally came to yoga to support my mental health back in 2010 so I am very excited to share my chat with Dr Lauren Tober, who is a Clinical Psychologist and Senior Yoga Teacher based in Byron Bay and Mullumbimby, Australia. 

Dr Lauren integrates the best of western psychology with ancient yogic wisdom and we dive into how your yoga practice can be an effective way to support your mental health, as well as be a guide for living a healthy and happy life. My favourite part of the chat is when Dr Lauren gives us complete permission to just let go and break down if we need to - it's powerful stuff!

This episode is different from any others that I've done before - this is no pre-written script or pre-thought. It is straight from the heart, straight from the soul. 

Spoken at a time when I felt lost, uncertain and overwhelmed, feeling physically sick and rundown. Chatting to you from a vulnerable place, walls down, nowhere to hide. 

My intention with this was to start really, truly being ok with not being ok. I hope this gives you permission to do the same. It's ok not to have it all together, not to know what the next step is, to be a highly sensitive person in this modern, fast-paced world and speak out about it!

I came across today's guest by watching her TED Talk. Lael Stone's talk hit me in the heart. I shed a few tears and had to get her on the show to discuss and unpack. In this episode, Lael helps us understand how to raise emotionally intelligent kids and how we can become emotionally intelligent adults and deepen our self-awareness in the process. 

We discuss the magic ingredients in creating harmony in our homes and within ourselves. We also plunge into schooling and the need for deeper connection in the education system and what this means for future generations.

At the end of our chat, Lael shares super practical tips for doing inner work so we can enjoy healthy relationships with our kids and perhaps most importantly, enjoy a strong, understanding, and caring relationship with ourselves.

Dr Peta is an experienced Clinical and Health Psychologist and Associate Professor in Psychology and a world-leading researcher in Emotional Freedom Technique (otherwise known as EFT or tapping).  Her inspirational research focuses on therapies that integrate mind and body. Her book, the Science Behind Tapping is forwarded by the amazing Dr Joe Dispenza! Her TEDx Talk is incredible, and she has a Everyday Tapping Series available to watch on Gaia!

Today’s guest is Garima Bharti, founder and business owner of Get Better Physio and Pain-Free Mama. Garima shares her story of how she wasn’t satisfied with the quality of physiotherapy that was being delivered in Australia and this spurred her on to create a service that offered more. Her purpose is in helping others, particularly women, to overcome chronic pain and help them in their journey of recovery and pain-free living.

During her own pregnancy, Garima suffered from horrendous back pain and experienced post-natal anxiety which eventually led to a pretty big breakdown as she calls it. Through this experience, however, Garima was able to turn her focus to nutrition, mindset and her own physiotherapy practice to make a full recovery and then some. She made fascinating discoveries in its relation to chronic pain and now shares this knowledge with her clients.

Welcoming Steve Morley to The Health Coach Approach with Emma podcast! 

This episode is a super special one. I sat down and chatted with Steve Morley on the topic of men’s health. And not men’s health where we talk about getting a six-pack, smashing it out at the gym or pumping pre-workout powders. No no! This shit is the real deal. 

We discuss toxic masculinity and the negative effects it has on our men and our boys. Steve created The Mateshop as a space, as a community, for men to be truly seen, heard and to connect with one another. A place that holds room for empathy and bonding without judgement. A community fosters brotherhood and creates an atmosphere of positive masculinity.

I believe this is such important and needed work, so I’m grateful for guys like Steve and others out there, leading the way and paving the way for men to be healthy in holistic and genuine ways and well in a way that makes a real difference to their lives and the lives of those around them.

An incredibly raw chat about life and mental health, with a man that chases down the biggest waves in the world for fun, Brenden Newton. An ex-professional bodyboarder, a father and husband, Brenden blows the lid off what it's like to live with a mental illness such as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). 


In this episode, Brenden gives us an insight into what it was like living with OCD in his younger years and the struggle he still faces today. An honest and open conversation about highs and lows, as well as his achievements in professional bodyboarding, such as creating documentaries and landing on the front pages of magazines with mind-blowing images from his bodyboarding expeditions. 


The work he does with the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) is also another captivating chapter in the life of Brenden. He reveals why he rejected the idea of teaching as soon as he finished studying a four-year degree in Physical and Health Education and how it led to something that makes him feel extremely fulfilled and like he is making a true difference in kids lives.  


We discuss what helps pull him back when OCD is taking hold and what keeps him his healthiest self, and you might be surprised by the answers.

Zachary Bennett-Brook, an Indigenous man of Torres Strait Islander ancestry born and raised on Dharawal Country (Wollongong), is the artist and owner of Saltwater Dreamtime. Creating artworks on buildings, schools and surfboards, he is a contemporary artist whose love for the ocean and surroundings inspires his well-known artwork. 

In this episode, we discuss what health means in a holistic sense, why creativity, culture and connecting with nature is important and how becoming aware of who we are is essential if we want to live out our dreams, achieve success and be truly happy from within. 

We discuss how, despite being reluctant to even finish year 12, his final schooling years sparked a deep connection to his indigenous heritage that came out through his art. In this chat, Zach speaks of how he continues to align his values with his work and this was tested when it came to designing a surfboard piece for Chris Hemsworth. 

Sensory deprivation float tanks, sitting under the stars at night, as well as how it can seem as though we have two voices in our head at times is also discussed!
