S2 E10: My First Reiki Session
Reiki is a japanese traditional practice that focuses on energy healing in the body. You may be familiar with Chakras from Hindu culture or "chi" from the Chinese - these are energy balances in the body. What I hoped to do with my session is to have a new experience and see for myself what this experience is like and if I could get some of my own personal understanding.

S2 E7: I Broke my Record! - The 1 Hour Meditation Challenge
5 Myths of meditation debunked:
Debunking the 5 Most Common Meditation Myths | Light Watkins | TEDxVeniceBeach
- I finally did it, I meditated for 1 hour.
- Okay, I have to take an honest look at that statement and say. It doesn't matter how long you meditate for because what really matters more than the length of time is that you are tapping into an energy that makes you feel renewed and you experience true love/peace. I'm sure there are people that can get into that deep state of calm and detach from their thoughts within seconds if that wanted to from doing this practice for long and determining their base level. I'll get into that in a moment.
- Now let's talk about meditation, something that I haven't been doing for an extremely long time. But it has been very helpful for balancing out my mood for a day and also teaching me how to be more focused. It's one of those things that I can't fully explain and I'm sure there's some science to back it up, but I am just going to talk from my experience. For me, it's acts like a base-line. I know what zero feel like, of what a calmness of the mind feels like. I'm going to put a link to this video in the description, but this guy named Light Watkins dispels a couple of misconceptions about meditation and cover some of the things I am about to say.
- Can make you feel younger,
- Meditation gives me that focus to find the beauty in the world, like a child almost.
- focus on the breath - people believe this can heal a lot of ailments
- No wrong way, beauty of it is what is meaningful to you. That goes with tapping into your own self. So if it's having candles and incense and being at the top of a mountain, etc. then that might be what you need. I'm more of a minimalist and want to be able to learn how to do this anywhere - life should be a meditation. This helps prevent you from cutting your finger when chopping food, burning your hand on the curling iron or the kitchen oven, accidentally running a red light or stop sign. Ultimately, decluttering your mind, providing focus and appreciating/tapping into the world around us.
Now the big question how did I meditate for 1 hour and what did I learn?
HOW:
- Started with 2 mins, worked to 5, then 10, then 15, then 20, then 30, then 40. And then today, it's a Saturday I wanted to push for 1 hour.
- Like to sit in a chair so don't fall asleep
LEARNED:
- Like with any meditation once you get past the chatter of your mind where you think from one idea to the next and say to my brain sucks that you thought about this idea now mind because there is nothing we can do about it. Don't want to break the meditation for one idea that might be holding me back from another. It usually takes me about 5-7 minutes to get through this clatter and get into this agreement with my mind that I made a commitment to this time and I am sticking to it. And then that relaxes me- Feel different sensations: body can feel warm, might feel heaviness in stomach so have to like breath it away,
- Listening to the world around you, birds, cars driving by
- Come back to breath and looking at the light behind your eye lids - sometimes like to imagine it all around my body
- Ultimately, meditation is a gift to yourself, able to quiet the body and the mind and be at peace

S2 E5: I Tried Archery
I haven't had the opportunity to do archery for some time, so I decided that I would see if it is actually something I am passionate about. I have found that sometimes an idea comes into my mind and I have to act on it to see if it might be something that I could be passionate about.
S2 E4: A Speech About Sales
In this episode I recorded my speech that I gave at Toastmasters where my topic was to discuss everything I knew about selling. I drew upon all of my resources to be able to tie together all of my knowledge into one concise speech. Enjoy!
S2 E3: The 7 Day Vegan Challenge
Introduction/About:
What's up guys today we're talking about health, spirituality and the 7 day vegan challenge - whoa!
- What is the 7 day vegan challenge/how I heard about it
- why doing?
-vegans always talking about it(bad rap)
- health - challenge
- overcome previous length (college) - getting made fun of, super bowl party broke with wings
- energy and vibration in food
- Hope to feel better and open third eye
- How starting: ate all meats (chicken, most of cheese, hid the chocolate)
- Trader Joe's bought $100 of food (carrots, cabbage, potatoes, zucchini)
- Philosophy is that I'm just eating the side dishes now - fries, celery,
- Challenges:
- Hope to not tell everyone I know about it
- accidentally eating something
- having food on hand when hungry
- label reading
- Not having ranch
- I will give updates every day
Day 1 Update:
Getting made fun of in college for it - pat of reason why don't want to tell people
- ate my famous stir fry breakfast - then put into burrito
- lots of nuts and snacks during the day
- Was a little tempted by cookie in break room
- then evening selected chips and salsa, and some beers.
- was a little hungry in the evening to balance the beer so scouraged the fridge and luckily didn’t have any cheese or things easy to make that would tempt me. That’s my one weakness is having things on hand to eat
- health: more craps during the day, probably cause breaking down food easier
- spiritual update: about the same for now other than feeling better
Day 2: Vibrational frequency - many food is tortured (do we want that in our bodies?)
- lazy day at home, made soup (hard to not use butternut squash my dad made me)
- still frequently hungry
- craving chocolate and cake
Day 3: Imperfect produce
- less inclined to want chocolate
- caused me to do more cooking, but I like warm vegetables
- made home made french fries
- Mediated for 30 mins - broke record
Day 4: Hate wasting food so ate all the chicken, eggs and cheese from home
- Snacked on chips from desk
- Almost accidentally ate some celery with ranch on it, but quickly thought about it and spilled the ranch all over my front side
- Had conversation about Keto and proud of myself for not bringing up that I am Vegan
Day 5: Short Update
- Forgot to meditate
- Feels good to not eat animals, stomach thanks me
Day 6: Getting in the hang of things - order lunch from a Thai place called Thai Basil - I heard asian food is really good fro trying to stay vegan. Still called ahead and asked if there was butter or cheese in the food.
- Almost there, the time is flying by. Still working my way through my snacks at work and have plenty of veggies at home. Let's do it!
Day 7:
- forgot peanut butter was vegan (butter in title)
- Foods that have protein
- Tofu: 10g
- Edamame: 8.5g
- Tempeh: 15g
- Lentils: about 9g
- Chickpeas (hummus): 7g
- Peanuts: 20g
- Almonds: 16.5g
- Spirulina: 8g
- Bean and rice: 7g
- Potatoes: 8g
- Broccoli: 4g
- Mushrooms: 3g
Epic sound effect transition for my five takeaways
This is my experience, not a doctor.
5 things learned from challenge:
1. Food Conscious - Read the labels (grew up on McDonalds and potato chips)
- Asking if things have milk, butter or cheese in them
2. Healthy food makes you hungry so have plenty on hand
3. Mentally feel better - like giving someone a compliment, opening a door, that kind of feeling (less guilt)
4. Lighter stomach
5. Knowing that it’s possible
-Animals have feelings

S1 E6: Travel (feat. Austin Starr)
S1 E5: Hardship
Hardship is necessity for success - it's the defining characteristic. In today's episode I discuss why things that are worth accomplishing usually take some bit of sacrifice.
Doing spiritual work lately
- accept life is challenging + always have problems. - Not good or bad, just is
- Once accept this, then you can change your mindset, problem solving rather than dwelling
Reminds me a couple months ago was dealing with depression, can only diagnosis this after the fact. But wasn't as motivate and felt helpless.
1. Change environment, toxic people experiences - get out and do something away from there
2. Journaling - better than a consultant, able to see patterns and gift to self
3. Change how you look at problem - become what think about most
Meaning:
- Per Aspera Ad Astera - Through Hardship to the stars
- To Kill a mocking bird - through mud to the stars
- Thought at one point wanted to do tattoo with astronaut
Happiness comes from suffering - greater appreciation for good times - have to die to yourself, sacrifice - personally productivity makes me feel happiest
- cold showers
- fasting
- working out
Only good things come with work
Used to having things come relatively easy.
Didn't realize that adult life is a grind, really small progress every single day.
- right after college working 9-5 couldn't get anything done after work - want to watch tv or video games. Still in a similar boat... but have solution.
- Miracle morning, wake up early and have the energy to tackle some of my bigger projects. Less drained and fewer distractions from email, texts, Emily isn't up yet. It's nice. Flies by, but that's my magic bullet
How? A little bit of going to bed earlier, but more reliant on app Sleepy Time.
- Like making this podcast - consists of me waking up at 5am and editing
This advice goes to you as the viewer as much for myself: try to see the silver lining.
- Nothing is by accident
- What is life trying to teach me in this moment
- 90% of life is how you react to the things happening to you - always going to have challenges - how you think about it is the key. Find that attitude can make all the difference.
Summary:
- Meaning
- Value of work - payoff of sacrifice
- CTA: What is something that you would like to work harder at? Or what have you worked hard at in the past? - doing exercise/thinking about will move you in a better direction

Stan Lee Quote on Creating: "I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic-book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain people, you’re doing a good thing."
