Episode 131 - Piss-Poor Design
===========================
EOI 131 -- Piss Poor Design
===========================
Hello again! This episode, recorded on March 19th, 2024, features commentary from comrades Chava, Joe, and myself. We cover the "suicide" of Boeing whistleblower John Barnett, the 737 MAX engineer who outright refused to fly on the 737 MAX, still more atrocities committed against the Palestinian people in the weeks preceding the ceasefire resolution, the sweet irony of Yemen's assault on the United States, the absurd movie plot playing out in NATO and the European Union, the ejection of US forces from Niger, and the arrest of a "ballsy" former political candidate, as it were. Slams hit so hard this time they scrambled my brain.

Episode 130: Crawling Peg
=============================
This episode, recorded on March 5th, 2024, features commentary from comrades Scott, Joe, Chava, and myself.
CONTENT WARNING FOR SUICIDE, as we dive into the self-immolation of Aaron Bushnell, and responses to it by law enforcement, the American military-industrial complex, the Palestinian resistance, the neoliberal press, left-wing youtubers, and ourselves, of course, in addition to detailing the pathological false consciousness intended to undermine radical collective action. We also discuss plane-seeking tornadoes; developments from the Palestinian front lines; ICC charges against Western war criminals; the Argentine implosion; local developments both good and bad; and the Texan ass bandit; finally closing out with some southwestern slamming desert death.

Hello comrades! Welcome back to the Epoch of Incredulity. This is part two of episode 127, recorded on 01/16/24. Please keep in mind that (a) we had already been recording for like an hour and forty five minutes by this time, and (b) the ICJ was still reviewing evidence presented at the genocide hearing when we recorded our segment, which deepens our own vindication alongside that of South Africa. In addition, Chava, Joe, and I touch on Fetterman's embarrassing ignorance, Biden's dismal approval ratings, NOAA's distressing annual climate report, and some truly tragic toilet trauma, before closing out with some gut-wrenching slams at the gateway to siberia.

Episode 127: Part One - Suddenly Not Having a Good Time
Hello comrades! Chava, Joe, and I recorded this on 1/16/24, and, perhaps given the abundance of bullshit in the first few weeks of the new year, I've had to trim about an hour from it and split it up into two parts.
In part one, we uncover the neoliberal rot undergirding the recent Boeing 737 Max 9 incident and discuss the deepening quagmire in West Asia, including: The success of the Red Sea blockade in stymying western war profiteering; the pentagon-brained bombing campaign, in response, against Ansar Allah; the Mossad-backed oil pirates that were vaporized in Kurdistan (Northern Iraq); and the tragedy unfolding among settlers in the Israeli occupied territory.
Part two will be released whenever I'm done editing.

Episode 126 - If you drive a boat, nobody cares.
Hello, beautiful proletarians. I've taken on the episode artwork and description for this special occasion, in part because I've been awake since yesterday morning and I need something to fight off the delirium between now and the NA meeting I probably, really, need to attend, later tonight.
This episode, although entirely Joeless, is not entirely joyless. I turn the tankie knob down a couple of notches; we extend a bit of empathy to the misled and maladjusted. We may be ill, but we're not dead yet, you incorrigible bastards!
~ With love, Jesse

Episode 123 - Disavow Hummus
After a brief mention of local municipal elections, we continue our coverage of Israel's genocide against the people of Gaza. The escalation in bombings and rhetoric as more innocent people die. Nations finally severing ties with Israel, America not among them, of course. The censuring of Rashida Tlaib, the warmongering from Biden and the Democrats (and Republicans,) the disappointment of Bernie and Fetterman. We round out the episode with an update on the recent sweep of Mass and Cass, and try to end on some good news, the end of WeWork, and well, the end of Sam Bankman-Fried (for now.) Jesse's got haikus this week for a very antifascist episode of the Epoch. That's right, suddenly there are Nazis everywhere and unsurprisingly, the media is doing all they can to rehabilitate them. Episode 120 - After Every Battle, I Dream of Exploding
We get philosophical on this episode... sorry. We start in the swing of things as we discussion Nietzsche and why he sucked, how time has ostensibly proven Marx and Deleuze -- among others -- essentially right, and if there is anything they get wrong. (Spoilers: there's not a whole lot.) After that we start things proper and move onto the UAW strike, the solidarity and excitement found in the modern US labor movement, Fetterman, plus Sinn Féin AND Shawn Fain? Try saying that ten times fast. Also, Fossil Fuel subsidies have gone out of control, tension between Canada and India rachet-up, and the US military somehow lost a very expensive plane. What an embarrassing country! Visit our patreon: https://www.patreon.com/epicincredulity
(00:00) intro
(01:28) a little discussion about Nietzsche, Deleuze, and Marx.
(15:50) UAW strike - we talk a lot about Biden not going to the picket... well, he actually did it.
(26:30) Fetterman made the Senate change their dress code
(29:40) Sinn Féin or Shawn Fain?
(31:10) Fossil Fuel subsidies are out of control
(36:00) what government hasn't lost a multimillion dollar plane?
(44:40) Canadian/Indian tensions
(47:00) Libyan floods
(55:10) Electro shock therapy as punishment for disabled children
(01:00:00) we talk about the time a guy threw a shoe at bush and then got a monument for his efforts (this is a very old story but it was a fun discussion.)

Episode 119 - It's Always the F**king French
America feels like a very paranoid place. We are ruled by a cabal of elderly elites. We have been trained to sow dissent and mistrust towards our fellow man. All while our ecology collapses under the weight of climate change spurred by centuries of colonialism, rampant industrialization, and unfettered capitalist growth. Our amusements become nightmares and we become susceptible to fake news and moral panic. Is there hope in the darkness? Or are we merely witnesses to the fall? We explore all this and more, this week on The Epoch of Incredulity.

Episode 118 - Snowblind on Planet X
Joe is back for a bit of a more normal one this week. After a busy cold open we dive into the news and give updates on some important stories we missed, most importantly Maui and Hurricane Hilary. As always this launches us into another length discussion about climate, and the Government's response or lack thereof. In more positive news, we cover the ratification of the Teamster's contract after beating UPS, and the electoral victory of Bernardo Arévalo (and The Left) in Guatemala. To end the episode, Joe responds to our take about the failure of Socialism from our previous episode. Scott gets a little heated about it, but we all make up by the end. Episode 117 - Could've Been My Arm.
Joe surprised everyone by being off this week -- He was on Cape Cod -- so for this episode you get an hour of Jesse and Scott rambling. Things stay on topic enough, or they try to, but this some raw stuff. Thankfully, there is editing! And we get theoretical! We open with a discussion concerning Israel, Palestine, apartheid, and moral clarity. We then debate why exactly we believe the social project failed in the twentieth century, from the Spanish Civil War, The Soviet Union, and The Atomic Bomb. Then it's the news, both international and local; all of which is a little dated, but seems like Hot Labor Summer continues, as more industries try to unionize or even strike. Plus, in the middle of things, Scott gives us a rant on why conservatives are often so bad at media analysis. Thank you for listening, and visit our patreon: patreon.com/epicincredulity

It's been a month, and we're back, baby! We open with a quick riff on Ben Shapiro's awful Barbie review, and which quickly spirals into a discussion of material security versus the value form, the disconnected nature of the average American, and the flattening of history. After the theme song we make sure to give some time to some news we missed over the past month, particularly the Titan implosion. Then we get back to the grind with the elections in Spain, the Teamsters victory over UPS, the SAG-AFTRA strike, the Gulf Stream, unrest in France, Elon, the end of Twitter, and the arrival of Threads. Episode 115 - Radicaling [Season 3 Finale]
Welcome back to the Epoch. It our season 3 finale! To celebrate, Trump was indicted! Okay, maybe that had nothing to do with us, but whatever. I95 collapsed, and Mayor Pete is still doing a terrible job. Ukraine probably blew up their own dam? Silvio Berlusconi died. Pakistan buys oil with Chinese currency, hopefully accelerating de-dollarization (ask Joe). Both DuPont and 3M have been lying about forever chemicals, forever. Plus, Cornel West announces he's running for president, Starbucks bans Pride décor, Cop City, and Canadian wildfires turn Manhattan into Hell. We're taking a little break from the Epoch, but we'll be back for season 4, soon enough. Thank you for listening and check out our patreon: https://www.patreon.com/epicincredulity/

Episode 114 - Part 2: Two Trees
Hello again! This is the second half of episode #114, though it functions just fine as a standalone episode.
Jesse covers a handful of local stories, beginning with the overturning and rewdrawing of Boston City Council's district maps; continuing into the unethical conduct of Rachel Rollins (former DA / US Attorney for Massachusetts); onto the drunken antics of a Boston Police Lieutenant; and concluding with the train that fought back.
Joe dives into the state's food insecurity crisis, which is hitting people of color and LGBTQ+ residents hardest, and from which children are by no means exempt.
We then turn it over to Scott, who describes the uncomfortable (and radicalizing) experience of fighting for labor rights as a member of a burgeoning union.
Thanks for listening. Please check out our patreon (https://patreon.com/epicincredulity) and, of course, enjoy your epoch.

Episode 113 - Cringe, Slack-Jawed Yokels
Sorry for the late Epoch, everyone, it's been a busy one! Of course, all we missed was just another blood-soaked paranoia day of death in America. From the subways of New York to the streets of Texas, violence reigns. Plus, the debt ceiling, and now they're putting olive oil in coffee? It's a wild one out there. We move on to some more positive things as Jesse discusses the benefits of safe injections sites, and Scott talks about the Writer's Strike. There is a second part of this episode coming exclusivity to Patreon in which Joe gives a full historical view of the Russo-Ukrainian War. Watch out for that, very soon!

Episode 112 - Trapo Chap House
It's a nice, sleek, new Epoch. We bring some good and some bad news this week. First we open with more information on the shooting of Climate Activist Manuel “Tortuguita” Terán, then we discuss the basedness of Chile nationalizing their lithium reserves, while also covering the further foibles of Juan Guaidó. Of course, there is more corruption in the Supreme Court, but they also ruled against Big Oil in a major decision. Weird. Twitter has become a mess and NPR has been run off the platform. Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon -- Who Scott unironically kept calling Dom -- were fired from their former corporate news apparatus on the same day. We end with some White Nationalists going to jail, and though we believe in prison abolition, at least that's some good news. Thanks for listening and don't forget to check out our Patreon. patreon.com/epicincredulity
