66. How to Make Decisions (Return of the Podcast)
The Eric Chow Empowers Podcast is back for 2023 after a nearly 8-month hiatus! In this episode, Eric Chow shares strategies to improve your intention and goal-setting this year and tips on making quality decisions in your life while using this podcast's history as the guiding example from its start in 2019 to the recent decision to bring the podcast back. Most of us are never taught how to make good decisions in our life, and yet we're expected to make them. Eric doesn't claim to be an expert on great decision-making but this podcast has always been a shining example. The formula? Knowledge + Input & Counsel + "Definiteness" makes for quality decisions. Listen to the episode to learn more. Connect with Eric on all platforms @ericchowreal including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
65. Stop Making This Mistake, It's Time To Step Up
Over the past 2+ years, there have been countless struggles: figuring out why we are dissatisfied with our lives and what we should be doing instead, not being able to meet people and build meaningful relationships, being unable to find time for hobbies and interests and passions, and so much more. In this episode, Eric Chow talks about a mistake he noticed in the way we respond to these struggles and how we can respond appropriately. The answer is simple: Instead of stepping back from life, step in and experience all that life has to offer.

In this episode, Eric Chow talks about a key principle to motivate yourself, make the most of your opportunities, and live an inspired life. The principle is incredibly simple but underutilized. It can be stated in many ways, but for the sake of this episode, we can call it: "The Front Row Mentality: A Principle for Motivation, Inspiration, and Success." 63. Passion, Progress, and Psychology with Zach Hose
When we think about the athletic kids growing up, one would probably not expect that they would deal with insecurity about their weight or physique, but for Zach Hose, that simply wasn't the case. After injuries took him out of sports in his teenage years, Zach found himself overweight and with a desire to improve himself, and for the past decade, has learned a lot when it comes to taking care of his physical & mental health. That's the story he shares with us today, and his thoughts on finding the balance between appreciating where you are (self-love) and a desire to improve (ambition), learning to be attached to nothing, and knowing when to tell yourself to shut the f*ck up. Zach is also a personal friend and fellow podcaster, hosting The ZAP! Podcast focused on passion which I was fortunate enough to be on several months ago.
Follow Zach on Instagram @zachhose14 and on Twitter @zachhose14. For more of Zach in podcast form, check out The ZAP! Podcast available on nearly a dozen platforms. If you want to listen to Eric Chow's episode on The ZAP! Podcast, click here.
62. Dreamers Create Their Own Reality with Océane Chamoret
Many big dreamers, naturally emotional and caring people struggle growing up in an environment with people who like to be logical and rational. We're told "that's not realistic, what world do you live in? Come back to reality." That's the story of Océane Chamoret, born in France, but growing up in several different countries including California for a time. At 25 years old, Océ was promoted to HR manager for a group of three hotels. Then the pandemic hit, and she saw an opportunity to dive into the world of transformational coaching, positive psychology, and now shares her story with us in the hopes of helping fellow dreamers learn to create their own reality.

61. Make 2022 Your Year with Eric Chow
This 20-minute monologue is my happy new year message to you: wishing you an amazing year ahead, and sharing some ideas that I believe will help you make 2022 your year. If you listen carefully, pausing to think about the ideas, potentially even listening to it multiple times and reflecting on it with a notebook afterwards, you will have prepared yourself with the mindset, determination, and focus you'll need to make this year incredible.
I'll just say this: The comfort zone is characterized by doing the same things in the same ways with the same people at the same time and getting the same results. No wonder life doesn't get better. Those who don't grow are stuck because they are unwilling to leave what they've known and practiced to do something better. If you want to make changes this year, this episode will light a spark and give you guidelines on developing a game plan for an amazing year.
60. Active Addiction & Life Afterwards with Nicole Marso
After several years of serious alcoholism led her to regular panic attacks that sent her to the hospital, getting fired from her job, pancreatitis, and more, Nicole Marso decided to become sober. She left a relationship that lasted for almost a decade, and as a single mother of 2 kids, moved back in with her mom. Growing up she was an extremely athletic kid, too busy to get into alcohol, until a family tragedy led her to it. Now celebrating 16 months sober, this is her story of how she became an alcoholic, what it cost her, and what's happened since she's gotten out of it.
Follow Nicole Marso on Instagram @nicolemarso, find her on Facebook @nicole.marso.5, and check out her new small business, The Wild Sunflower Boutique at https://thewildsunflowerboutique.com. As always, you can find the host Eric Chow everywhere @ericchowreal.

Our 14th guest from the Yes Theory Family, the "Flag Boi" himself, Pranav Karakavalasa joins us for an episode sharing his personal experiences on how the phrase "Seek Discomfort" is, as he describes, "the way you need to live to overcome your inner demons" and face life's challenges. If that appeals to you, and you want to be more free as a person, this is the episode for you. This is an episode about lighting the spark, changing our perspective and mindset, and making principles a part of who we are because we have a desire to grow. For this week's episode, Eric Chow does a raw, transparent, unscripted monologue that will likely challenge you. Eric shares a powerful, practical strategy to help you empower yourself. This is the strategy that makes becoming the person you want to be a natural byproduct. It's not just about thinking differently. It's about designing your life so you naturally begin to embody who you want to be.
56. How I Started Empowering with Eric Chow
In this week’s episode of the podcast, Eric Chow is going solo to share his martial arts journey from a few years ago. Eric's journey of personal development--all the books he's read, podcasts and talks he's listened to, and conversations he's had--the journey started with martial arts. Eric believes that he wouldn't be who he is today, doing what he's doing today, talking to the people he talks to today, if it weren't for his time training. In this episode, he talks about his years in martial arts and shares a few of the standout moments, lessons, and takeaways that continue to play a role in his life and shaped who he is today.
55. Let Life Be That Crazy Adventure with Theo & Taylor Baudry

54. "Empower" by Eric Chow
Hey everybody! This episode features a short monologue about the one word that started the show: "Empowerment." After more than 2 years of doing this podcast, Eric Chow shares how he got started empowering himself and then into empowering others, in the hopes of giving you some ideas to help you empower yourself and those around you.
53. The Realities of a Sexual Assault Survivor with Anne Magbuo
*Trigger Warning* This episode contains conversation around sexual harassment, rape, and suicidal thoughts. The conversation may be disturbing to listen to, and emotionally draining. I've known this episode's guest for close to a year now, and as I've gotten to hear her story in our conversations, I remember telling her that when she was ready, I wanted to give her a platform to share it. That time has finally come. Saying that she's had a "tough year" doesn't begin to describe the story she's going to share, full of emotional turmoil, anxiety, trauma, and more. But Anne's story is also one of holding onto hope, a determination to recover, and trying to be a kind person despite every reason not to. You can find Anne on Instagram @an._ne
52. The Importance of and Ideas Around Raising Self-Image with Eric Chow
The first solo episode I've done in about 1.5 years! After celebrating 2 years of the podcast, I wanted to bring these short monologues back. This episode has a monologue about self-image. "Most of the problems we face in life are the result or the symptoms of the greater problem that is not believing in ourselves enough" (Eric Chow), and that we hold ourselves back as a result. You'll hear me talk about that in this episode, along with some ideas around how to raise your self-image and the lifelong journey you'll be undertaking.
I'm also starting a new segment in these solo episodes, which is a Q&A. I asked on Instagram for some questions you guys want me to answer, and I took one of those questions, "What inspired you to start a podcast?" and answered it. I'll continue answering questions in future episodes, so if you want me to answer one of yours, dm me your question @ericchowempowers on Instagram, or @ericchowreal anywhere else.
51. Unglamored, A Novel on Mental Health in Entertainment by Jessie Cheng
We live in a world today where celebrities and the people under the public eye are put under immense pressure. Unglamored by Jessie Cheng is a novel about a famous Asian-American singer who struggles secretly with an eating disorder in an industry that demands perfection and glorifies thinness. It's a story about mental health in the entertainment industry, with the goal of bringing awareness and creating empathy for the celebrities of today, and for us to understand yet another way how mental health affects people's lives. In this episode, we go deeper into the inspiration behind this story and why Jessie felt the urge to write this book. Unglamored comes out August 2021.
Summary of the book: "Nineteen-year-old Rose B.D. is the nation’s top star, a famous Chinese-American singer who appears to have it all: a large fan base, a glamorous career in Shanghai, the perfect body. 43. The Magic of Human Connection with Michael Johnson (aka Tea with Mike)
Mike is a dear friend and fellow podcast host of his own show, Tea with Mike. As a host himself, he allows so many other people to share their stories, so in this episode, I'm asking him about his story and his journey of starting and growing his show. Having talked to and interviewed many individuals with his show Mike has learned some simple, yet powerful lessons about people, human interaction, and connecting with others. Sometimes we run into people who aren't the most pleasant interactions. Or how often are we so caught up in our own lives that we forget to look at the people around us. We all seek connection, introverts and extroverts and everyone in between. Certainly everything with COVID-19 has helped many people realize that. I do believe if you can capture Mike's perspective, your perspective on the world will become more optimistic, and your ability to connect with others will increase.
Check Mike out on his Instagram @teawithmike, connect with him on Twitter @tea_with_mike, follow his brand on Facebook @TeawithMikeJ and check out his show on his website teawithmike.com or your preferred podcast listening platform. If you want to watch or listen to the episode I did for Mike's show a few months ago, titled "Live, Love, Matter", check it out here.
42. "I Didn't See Myself As Beautiful" with Mikayla Seijo
In part 2 of the episode, we're hearing about Mikayla's relationship with her boyfriend of several years before diving into her perspective on romantic relationships. That includes loving someone but not being reciprocated and getting rejected, being in a broken relationship, seeing someone else in a broken relationship, and more. Arguably most important, we share our thoughts on feeling unlovable, feeling incapable of being loved or loving.
If you enjoy this episode, I'd appreciate if you could subscribe to the show, like the episode, and rate my podcast on whatever platform you're listening on. Also tweet me or tag me in an Instagram story of you listening to the show, and your thoughts on the episode! You can also follow Mikayla on Instagram @_meeekss_ or on her IG Food Blog @meeklymunchies and find her on Twitter @meeekss1
Also, one more thing. There's another 45-minutes or so of conversation that I haven't released in this episode between Mikayla and I all about living life to the fullest, making the most of our time here on Earth, traveling, and we share some fun stories and experiences. I'm thinking to release that as a bonus episode at some point, so if you want to hear that, let me know!
41. Healing A Victim of Life with Symphony Esqueda
Symphony shares that for a while that she, along with her sisters and mother, would have to sleep in a car, or on people's floors and couches, and how she would consistently have to brush her teeth and get ready in a school bathroom because of a broken relationship between her mother and her mother's ex-boyfriend. In a situation like that it's natural to feel like a victim of life, to question "why is this happening to me?" and Symphony definitely felt that. But what amazes me about Symphony is how she started to face it, how she radiates so much hope, love and joy, and I can't wait for you to see that for yourself as you listen to her. Her strength is an inspiration.

40. Perspective of the People & Facing Doubts with Sam Gabriel-Deveau
Finally, Sam flips the script on me and picks my brain around workflow, setting deadlines, working on passion projects, and basically, getting things done. Especially in the context of passion projects or creative projects, where there are no set deadlines handed down by someone else, or perhaps a larger task with a deadline far away, figuring out your own workflow can be a challenge. Our discussion also includes finding the fine line between not trying hard enough and actually trying too hard on tasks.
Sam ends this episode by sharing a few powerful lessons, which I'll save for him to share.
You can find Sam on Instagram @sam_v_gd and on Twitter @SamGabrielDeve1.

39. "You Matter" A Testament by Kyle Deaver
Kyle believes that everybody matters. Kyle says that there are billions of stars in the universe, but it is the Sun that we need to light up the Earth. There may be 7 billion people in the world, but it is you, reading and listening to this, that is bringing light to someone's life. In the words of Chester Bennington, "Who cares if one more light goes out? Well I do."

38. "I'm Sorry Mom" Seek Discomfort Travel Stories with Caitlin Durnbaugh
Caitlin also tells a ton of incredibly entertaining travel stories that include interacting with random strangers, hostels, Tinder, and even eating termites. She also has me share some of my stories which include getting stranded alone in Japan, hiking on a glacier in Iceland, eating a piece of a dried fish head that was hanging on a clothesline, and more. Sharing these stories lead us into a couple discussions on meeting strangers, being safe while traveling, and more.
If you love traveling, or you love great stories, or you love people - this is a great episode to listen to.
Also, Caitlin has just started a project where over the course of the next year she wants to meet someone from every country in the world. If you're interested in becoming a part of it, message her on Instagram!
