Chloe Wood
Chloe Wood → As an interdisciplinary artist, Chloe Wood uses her expertise to explain the importance of art. Her knowledge from various artistic fields offers insight into her personal learnings. Throughout the episode, we discuss Wood’s influences (family, hometown, etc) and how they propelled her current abstract naturalistic aesthetic. As a mother, Wood also shares how her family life brought new purpose and importance to art education.
Aysha Miskin
Aysha’s aesthetic encompasses her free spirit and liberated self-expression. Most of her work centers around empowering feminist ideals and references her journey as an independent artist. Today’s episode dissects the hardships Aysha initially encountered --backlash from family members, discouraging mentorship-- and how she used art as a medium to find herself. Her growth is a testament to the importance of supporting artists and art education.
Caleb Mahoney
Mahoney’s successful work incorporates abstract influences and a vibrant spectrum of color. While recounting on his artistic journey, Mahoney opens on the matters that influenced his artistic voice. However, he also acknowledges the faults in our education system that mislead aspiring artists. Through our conversation, we discuss how the education system helped further his career but also certain aspects that hindered his journey.
Ginifer Brinkley
Brinkley’s past experience as a pediatrician nurse and mother shines through her art and her perspective on art education. Being involved in a youthful and artistic environment, Brinkley understands not only youth development but the role art plays in that development. In today’s conversation, Brinkley shares the experiences which formulated her artistic narrative and how they taught her to value all aspects of art.
A Summary
Art is a universal and necessary language for everyone, and today we were able to explore that from many different points of view. However, students often feel discouraged to seek a profession in the art field. Throughout our interviews at the St. Mark's Campus art auction --A Vision for Art--, local artists recount their personal findings and elaborate on the importance of art education. Today's episode shares a variety of perspectives from each artist we interviewed. While this is the first of many episodes, today's podcast features each artist and their unique journey to a career in art.
