Prayer for a Rooted Life

In Episode 3 of Season 10, Esther focuses on the process of becoming deeply rooted in God and His love. She reviews several characteristics of God’s nature and His love, some of the benefits of being deeply rooted, several consequences of not being deeply rooted, and several strategies to help us become deeply rooted in God and His love.

Scripture verses shared in the episode:

Trees and plants as a metaphor for our spiritual growth and relationship with God - Jeremiah 17:7-8 (TLB)

Deeply rooted in the love of God – Ephesians 3:17-19 (TLB)

God is love - 1 John 4:16 (ESV)

Characteristics of God’s nature and His love

  • God is holy (1 Sam. 2:2; 1 Pet. 1:15-16; Ps. 99:3; Lev. 19:2) so His love is holy.
  • God is faithful (1 Cor. 1:9; 10:13; 1 Thess. 5:24) so His love is faithful.
  • God is everlasting (Ps. 90:2; Jer. 31:3) so His love is everlasting. God is immutable, unchanging (Mal. 3:6; Heb. 6:17-18) so His love is unchanging. God is trustworthy (Num. 23:19; 1 Sam. 15:29; Heb. 6:18) so His love is trustworthy.

Benefits of being deeply rooted in God

  • We have everything required for life and godliness - 2 Peter 1:3 (HCSB)
  • We have hope - Psalm 71:5 (NKJV); Romans 15:13 (NLT)

Crowd

Do you know that you are surrounded by "a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith"? (Hebrews 12:1, NLT). Even if you are not one for crowds, this is a crowd that you will want to be part of when time is no more and, in the present, you can be encouraged by these witnesses who testify to "God's absolute faithfulness" (Hebrews 12:1, AMP).
