Implementing Business Strategies Derived From The World’s Best NBA Players – Alan Stein, Jr.

Implementing Business Strategies Derived From The World’s Best NBA Players – Alan Stein, Jr.

Episode #051 - What makes the best… the best? It’s what they do when no one is watching.

And, how have certain teams and businesses been able to sustain unparalleled success while others are sporadic and inconsistent? Simple… it’s their culture.

Today’s guest on the podcast, Alan Stein Jr, is a keynote speaker and author who spent 15+ years as a performance coach working with the highest-performing basketball players on the planet.

When I say the highest performing basketball players on the planet, listen to this testimonial from Kevin Durant a 2-time NBA Champion, a 2-time NBA finals MVP and 10-time all-star: “Alan played a huge role in my development on and off the court and his guidance helped me get to where I am today.”

During his time as a coach, he was able to see how these world-class players utilized these ‘unseen hours’ and now teaches others how to by utilizing the mindsets, rituals, and routines of those world-class athletes and coaches.

He also realised how Successful leaders uphold incredibly high standards and they foster a culture of collective accountability. This is how these top teams were able to sustain that unparallel success I mentioned at the beginning of this introduction.

Alan is incredibly motivational and incredibly intelligent so I can’t wait for you to hear what he has to say.

How To Stay Ahead Of The Competition & Be A Creative Thinker – Bob Sager

How To Stay Ahead Of The Competition & Be A Creative Thinker – Bob Sager

Episode #050 - Let me introduce you to today’s guest on CEO Journals, Bob Sager.

Most businesses aren’t as profitable as they could be. For many, sluggish sales, price competition or both are the norm. Many businesses earn smaller margins than they should because consumers don’t perceive them as uniquely valuable.

There’s an old saying: ‘If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, you’ll keep getting what you’ve been getting.’

This is where Bob Steps in. With Over 30 years’ experience in sales, training and entrepreneurship with a mastery of the psychology, sociology and biology of human decision making he is adept at using creative thinking methods to convert this knowledge and experience into exceptional strategies that cause customers to perceive superior value.

Best of all, the strategies he advises are easy to implement. Like hinges on a door, they are little things that add huge perceived customer value – and swing buying decisions!

Competitors will copy what you’re doing that works, so continuous innovation is a must! And to innovate you must be creative. You may disagree with me, however, everyone is a creative thinker and Bob and I are going to prove this to you in today’s episode.

I hope you enjoy this episode of CEO Journals.

How To Avoid Financial Hardship and Prepare Your Finances For The Future - Jedidiah Collins

How To Avoid Financial Hardship and Prepare Your Finances For The Future - Jedidiah Collins

Episode #049 – This week’s guest on CEO Journals is Jedidiah Collins.

Many kids on a playground today have the dream of going pro in sports and getting to test their skills against the best in the world. Some are lucky enough to play at college level, but how many take the next leap to be a Pro?

Of the 380,000 student-athletes in America, 99% will become a professional in something other than their sport!

Jed’s first question: How was he going to become a 1%?

This led him to observing and absorbing from everyone around him who he felt he could learn from. It left him wondering why more people had not been introduced to this toolbox of success and drove him to create what he calls Rookie to Veteran.

Once Jed began achieving the dream of playing in the NFL, he came across another number.

Only a few get to achieve the dream of walking into a professional locker room, but how many were walking out of that same locker room having captured the dream?

Over 70% of professional athletes fall on financial hardships soon after they are done playing!

This led Jed to his second question: How was he going to become a 30%?

Life decisions come quick after being handed a sizable check as a 22-year-old, and it is these decisions that Jed began to realize he was totally unprepared for. He went to highly educated people like his brothers to ask what to do, only to realize this was not a him problem, this was an everyone problem.

So, he dove headfirst into the world of money. He understood the told that his body and mind were going to take in achieving the dream and did not want to miss the opportunity to capture that dream.

Jed’s observations are what lead him to become a 1% and then a 30%. Translating these observations of watching how the best in the locker room and the boardroom operate is his life’s passion.

I hope you enjoy this episode of CEO Journals.

From Foster Care To The NFL: Dealing With Identity Shift - Anthony Trucks

From Foster Care To The NFL: Dealing With Identity Shift - Anthony Trucks

Episode #048 –  From Foster Care To The NFL: Dealing With Identity Shift with Anthony Trucks.

Anthony started his life in foster care where he had 20 life-shattering shifts. These shifts started as early as three years old when he and his three siblings entered into foster care. Anthony endured beatings, starvation, and forms of torture all before the age of six. He certainly wasn’t dealt the easiest hand in life. Fortunately, after years of misfortune, he was placed into a home where he would eventually be adopted as the sole black person in a poor but loving, all-white family 8 years later.

Anthony’s life has been riddled with misfortune even three decades later. For most these issues would leave them broken however, for Anthony it was the opposite. He’s been able to fight through his troubles and emerge the other side more successful every time.

Anthony played college football for the University of Oregon and then played in the NFL for the Bucs, Redskins, and Steelers. After his career-ending injury playing for the Steelers, he started his own company, where he now helps people design and build better lives in the areas of business, fitness, and overall personal development.

During the episode, we discuss Anthony’s journey to the NFL and how he then managed to transition into an incredibly successful entrepreneur despite the initial early troubles when we had little idea as to how to run a business.

The Importance Of Physical & Mental Health In Entrepreneurship - Alan Lazaros

Episode #046 - Years ago, after being involved in a nearly fatal car accident, Alan questioned everything.

What if that was it? Did he courageously fight for what he believes in? Did he love openly, honestly, and fiercely?

Not liking his answers, he decided to change forever.

Today, Alan is a Professional Speaker, Peak Performance Business Coach/Consultant, and the Co-host of The Hyper Conscious podcast.

He is here today to help you believe in yourself and your own brighter future and to inspire, motivate, and educate you on how to make those goals and dreams come true.

Physical health can often be overlooked as an entrepreneur. We become so fixated on the results of the business that our physical and mental health can often take a back seat.

However, if you’re not of peak physical and mental health, how Is your body supposed to be able to perform at its peak level? It simply can’t.

This is where Alan steps in. He’s a fitness fanatic. Being a model and having won men’s physique competitions he knows exactly how to train your body and mind to be at its highest performing level.

That’s part of what Alan and I discuss today. Alan is incredibly knowledgeable and a phenomenal speaker, so I hope you enjoy this episode of CEO Journals.

Habits of Professional Athletes & Winning The World Series With The New York Yankees - Dana Cavalea

Episode #045 - Professional athletes are the best in the world at what they do. Nobody is better than them. Yet, they all have coaches. That doesn’t always mean that the coaches are better at what they’re teaching. They are there to hold the players accountable. They are there to pick up on the minute tweaks that could lead to marginal gains in performance. They’re there to help when these athletes are at their lowest points. They are there to make sure the athlete continues to perform at the highest level.

Dana Cavalea, today's guest on the podcast, was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the New York Yankees. He helped lead the team to a World Championship in 2009. That same year he was awarded the Nolan Ryan Award which is given to the top Strength & Performance Coach in Major League Baseball as voted by his peers.

Since being one of the top coaches in baseball Dana has transitioned to working as a performance coach and consultant to Companies, Organizations, and some of America's Top CEOs, Executives, and Wall Street Fund Managers & Traders- helping them to optimize performance, productivity, and sales.

CEOs and top executives share many of the same qualities as these players. They want to be the best at what they do. Ultimately, they all want to enhance their performance so that they are untouchable by competition. Dana helps them achieve just that.

Reacting To Business Changes During COVID-19 - Andy Baldacci

Episode #043 – COVID-19, a term that we’ve all had to become far too familiar with over the past couple of months. We know it’s effecting both individuals and business around the globe.

Today’s guest on the show, Andy Baldacci, decided morally to no longer charge his customers throughout the duration of the pandemic. Understanding that he shouldn’t be charging for a service that is currently providing no value. His company’s revenue currently stands at $0 – something that definitely wasn’t forecasted.

We delve into how he is making the best of this difficult and frankly unusual situation.

From professional poker player to the owner of a software company – Andy has an interesting story behind how he acquired SaberSim – a software that offers Daily Fantasy Sports projections and line-up builders for the MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, and golf. Being from the UK the fantasy sports scene in America was fascinating to learn about, in cases I had no idea how much money could be at stake!

Living A Life Aligned With Your Values - Matt Gagnon

Living A Life Aligned With Your Values - Matt Gagnon

Episode #042 – There is more to a person than just their accomplishments… there is a journey. With social media nowadays we are often misled by those that we follow. We need to remember what we see is a highlight reel and a highlight real only. We see a snapshot of the moment, a fraction of the full story.

Every entrepreneur has a dream, a set of goals in which they are setting out to accomplish. And they each have their own values, in which they should never forget.

Matt Gagnon, todays guest on the show, believes in living a life aligned with your values. We all have up to five core values - that when honoured, evoke the best in us. The problem is that many people live life with values defined by others, leaving one feeling empty and like they are never enough.

It causes us to become fixated on the things that do make us feel whole and good about ourselves. It’s addiction. Matt first discovered this when he became addicted to praise. Not drugs or alcohol, or the things that people most commonly associate addition to – praise. And for 15 years Matt sold himself to the corporate lifestyle.

Sold himself to the point Matt had to go on medical leave with several severe and life-threatening health issues. Matt wasn’t set up in the perfect position to pursue self-employment. In fact, he was in quite the opposite. He barely had the energy to work 40-hour months. But it’s incredible what you can achieve when your back is up against the wall.

The Power Of Consistency: From Prison To Building An Empire - Weldon Long

The Power Of Consistency: From Prison To Building An Empire - Weldon Long

Episode #041 - How often do you find yourself waiting for the perfect opportunity to arise before you set off on achieving a goal, only to come to the realisation that that perfect moment doesn’t exist?

Or how about comparing your starting position to that of somebody else. Making excuses such as ‘oh their parents gave them money’ or ‘their parents owned the company and passed it down’?

These are things you cannot be worrying or complaining about. They are situations out of your control.

Weldon Long, today’s guest on the podcast, didn’t start his journey at the perfect moment and definitely wasn’t well equipped with the capital to start a business.

At the age of 39, Weldon was living in a homeless shelter after having served 13 years in prison. A 9th grade dropout and three-time convicted felon, he found himself broke and unable to gain employment.

After 6 months of knocking on many doors, he landed a sales position and quickly became one of the industry’s top sales leaders. In 2004, he opened his own company; and in 2009, that company was selected by Inc. magazine as one of the nation’s fastest-growing privately held companies.

Weldon’s story is inspiring, and he has to be one of the most motivating I’ve spoken to. His Sales experience and Prosperity Mindset philosophies are staggering.

Getting Paid For Who You Are, Instead Of Just What You Do - Terry Rice

Getting Paid For Who You Are, Instead Of Just What You Do - Terry Rice

Episode #040 – Getting paid for who you are, instead of just what you do – sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Well you’re wrong, it’s possible and it’s exactly what today’s guest on the podcast, Terry Rice, teaches.

As a business consultant, Terry helps entrepreneurs and consultants monetize their knowledge so they can grow their business without sacrificing their health, family or personal interests. He can help monetize your knowledge through consulting, speaking gigs, online courses and additional revenue streams – sounds like the ideal lifestyle to me!

As we shift from a “doing” economy to a “being” economy, many professionals have an opportunity to monetize their knowledge through various income streams. However, it’s easy to fall into the consulting trap -- constantly chasing clients and working long hours while neglecting your outside interests.

The “Hustle Harder” culture is fundamentally broken. Continuously working long hours and chasing the next opportunity will eventually lead to burnout, not success. Beyond that, it’s challenging to attract the right prospects and business partners when you project scarcity.

It’s time to take a look at the way you work and really start thinking about optimising the talents you already possess.

Building Your Tribe and Perfecting Brand Storytelling - Brian Schulman

Episode #039 - Companies of all sizes know they need to attract and retain an engaged audience, or as we now know it, a "tribe". These are the customers and clients who will be evangelists. Your biggest fans. With you through thick and thin, because they know what you stand for, they know what you do, and they know why you're the best at it.

As times move quickly, and audiences can be easily distracted by "shiny new things" it is more important than ever to stand tall in your values - the reason your tribe was attracted to you to begin with. Don't fall victim to the newest trends just because you have a sense of urgency or the itch to pivot.

Return to your roots. Remember your voice. Remember your purpose; the reason you started all this to begin with.

These are the words of today’s guest on the podcast Brian Schulman, the CEO and Founder of voice your vibe. Brian is a Forbes featured entrepreneur and was nominated as a LinkedIn Top Voice in 2018 as well as one of the platform’s top video creators.

In this episode we discuss the importance of building a community and how this is made possible through brand storytelling. Having amassed over 43,000 followers on LinkedIn we also discuss how the platform has propelled his career.

Increase Conversion Rates With Direct Mail - Kris Rudeegraap

Episode #038 – Sales outreach is evolving. I simple cold call and cold email doesn’t seem to cut it nowadays. Yes, they still work if your script is fantastic, but brands need to be creative to grab the potential customer’s attention.

This is where today’s guest Kris Rudeegraap steps in. A few years ago, Kris and his co-founder Braydan noticed a universal dilemma: Consumers and companies, alike, were drowning in digital noise.

Cold emails went unopened; emails unanswered; apps got deleted; ads were ignored.

Companies struggled with finding innovative ways to rise above the noise and build more meaningful relationships. So, they started sending direct mail and corporate gifts to get on people’s desks, not just their inboxes. And it worked..

But scaling this strategy would be nearly impossible—so they set out on a mission to build the world’s first Sending Platform: a comprehensive solution for sourcing, storing, shipping, and measuring ROI for anything a business ever needs to send. Their company Sendoso was born.

Kris and I discuss all things outreach. How brands and individuals can set themselves apart from their competition. We also delve into the details of fundraising, a topic yet to be explored on the podcast and we also talk about the processes behind scaling a team and operations to keep up with exponential growth of the company.

How To Work Less And Still Make More Money - James Schramko

How To Work Less And Still Make More Money - James Schramko

Episode #037 - With today’s hustle mentality, it’s not often you hear someone encouraging you to work less, or hear about someone who’s extremely successful only working a few hours a day.

We expect all Founders and CEOs to be working tirelessly. We imagine sleepless nights, 18-hour work days and high stress which yes, is the case for many, but not James Schramko who is today's guest.

James is the founder of SuperFastBusiness. A company James started after many years of experience to help the online business owner, get plenty more profit while working a lot less. To me that offer sounds like a no brainier.

Yes, James does now try to enjoy his life as much as he possibly can, but it took years of hard work to get to this point, so don’t be fooled.

It’s like the 80/20 principle. It’s a concept that two out of ten items, on any general to do list, will turn out to be worth more than the other eight items put together.

It’s these two that James focuses on, that’s allowed him to be able to build his life the exact way he wants it to be. With time freedom.

James and I discuss all this. We talk about his journey and how he managed to get to this point in which he's at today, we talk about his various streams of income, how it’s important to not become overwhelmed by the ‘hustle mentality’ and so, so much more.

Adapting To The Evolving Working Environment - Daniel Ramsey

Adapting To The Evolving Working Environment - Daniel Ramsey

Episode #036 – The conditions of the way in which we all work are shifting. It’s likely that if you’re a business owner or an employee that your workplace now allows employees to work from home or enjoy flexi-working hours.

Not only does it save money on office space, it allows employees to achieve a greater work life balance. Some of your employees may have families yet they commute 2 hours in and 2 hours home each day to get to the office, sacrificing time that could’ve been spent elsewhere.

Yet if they worked from home this could all be solved.

There’s no need to even come to the office in most cases. It’s simply been the norm for such a long time that any change doesn’t seem to make sense.

Remote working is a no brainer in my opinion.

This is what today’s guest on the podcast has come to speak about. Daniel Ramsey is the CEO and Co-Founder of MyOutDesk.com - a California based business process services company with delivery offices located in the United States and the Philippines.

By having MyOutDesk Inc. virtual assistants (VAs) work from their fully-equipped home offices in Southeast Asia Daniel and his team are able to offer significant cost savings to their clients compared to similar USA based service providers who may charge anywhere from $15 to $50 per hour. MyOutDesk Inc. is able to offer better service and results in a subscription model with substantial savings.

This was definitely an eye-opening conversation for me. Times are changing and companies need to adapt to these evolving working conditions.

The Art Of Running An Agency and Positioning Yourself As Market Leaders - Steve Gordon

The Art Of Running An Agency and Positioning Yourself As Market Leaders - Steve Gordon

Episode #035 – one of the biggest complaints of professionals is that the business is like a hamster wheel…and you’re the hamster!

You’re only making money when you’re working—prospecting, meeting with potential clients or delivering on your “work product.”

You are simultaneously the CEO, CFO, and factory line worker.

On today’s episode of the podcast I had the pleasure of speaking to Steve Gordon. In 1999, at the age of 28, Steve became the CEO of his first business. It was baptism by fire…

He knew nothing about marketing or selling services. The company got all of their business by word of mouth.

But they never knew where the next client was coming from, or when he (or she) would arrive.

Steve spent far too many nights, staring at the ceiling at 2:00 am, worried that the next client might not come when we needed it. So, he started studying sales and marketing.

And he and his team grew that firm into a multi-7-figure professional practice.

Now Steve has invested nearly two decades, studying, implementing, testing, and proving the strategies that work to sell professional services.

Since 2010, he’s been sharing what he’s learned with growth-minded professionals who are tired of trying this and trying that, and finally, want some clarity and just want to have a clear plan of action to get clients, that works.

Understanding Leadership & Tips For Becoming A Better Leader - Drew Dudley

Understanding Leadership & Tips For Becoming A Better Leader - Drew Dudley

Episode #034 - On today’s episode of the podcast I had the pleasure of speaking to Drew Dudley. Drew is an internationally acclaimed leadership speaker, Wall Street Journal bestselling author and the creator of the renowned TED talk “Everyday Leadership”.

Drew’s clients have included some of the world’s most well know organisations, including McDonald’s, Proctor & Gamble, JP Morgan Chase, so he definitely walks the walk.

Somewhere around the middle of his undergraduate education, Drew realised engaging with the world was a lot more fun than writing papers about it.

As he moved into his career, he took on the challenge of creating and building the Leadership Development Program at the University of Toronto, which became the largest and most dynamic in the country.

It was those leadership students who changed the course of Drew’s professional life: they secretly organised a campaign to put him onstage at TEDxToronto 2010, where he delivered a talk that would go on to generate more than 5 million views around the internet.

A high-achieving lifestyle took its toll however: undiagnosed bipolar disorder set the foundation for binge eating and drinking, and Drew grew to over 300 pounds while struggling with the emotional challenges of a career that kept him on the road 250 days a year.

Recognising how many people were struggling silently with similar battles, Drew began infusing these experiences into his keynotes, hoping to remind people that their scars in no way stand in the way of their leadership.

I can’t wait for you all to hear what Drew has to say so without any further ado, lets dive straight into the episode, enjoy.

Dale is the Founder of The Sales Rebellion who exist to change the game in, so he quotes ‘the ever so boring sales Bullpen’. He teaches you to cause undeniable curiosity, wander your territory, breathe life into your pipeline, and take your prospects on an adventure.

Dale is an exemplary model of what it means to Be Yourself. He embodies practicing what you preach and isn’t afraid to own his mistakes. For him, The Sales Rebellion is the fruition of a decade of waking up every morning determined to know true success.

Dale’s mission is to give other sales professionals confidence to lead the charge for change in their respective industries. Just as he exists to change the game and rebel against the status quo of the sales world.

Dale and I discuss some interesting client outreach tactics, opposed to your traditional, sometimes extremely painful cold call. It’s important to take your prospects and pipeline on a journey, more of which you will learn throughout the episode.

He is also a very familiar with LinkedIn, amassing over 22,000 followers who are all extremely engaged with his content. So, we discuss some key tactics on how to grow a close-knit community who value and engage with your content on the platform.

I learned a lot from Dale throughout our conversation, so I urge you all to take note of what he has to say.

Why You Need To Start a Podcast In 2020

Why You Need To Start a Podcast In 2020

Episode #026 - Today’s episode of the podcast is going to be a little different. It’s just me, no guest, just me myself and I talking into the microphone. This is episode 26 of the podcast and I’m yet to do a solo episode. It’s something I’ve been holding off doing for a while and I have no real excuse as to why. I’ve loved having the guest format so far. It’s been an incredible way of networking with some inspiring people and getting my podcast off the ground, but I feel now is the time to incorporate some solo episodes as a way of building more of a brand around myself rather than just the guy that asks questions. I want to also use it as a way as becoming more comfortable talking over an extended period of time as I’d love to start guesting on other people’s podcasts but I don’t want to hop on a call with another great podcast host who’s taking time out of their day to let me guest on their show and then have nothing to say. I want the episode to be the best it can be and to do so I’m going to have to become better at talking about myself and what I do.

So now diving into what todays episode is actually going to be about. Podcasting is something that I’ve always been incredibly interested in. I’ve been actively listening to podcasts for a while now, in particular business podcasts and it just sparked an idea. Why on earth am I consuming this content where somebody is interviewing this incredibly successful business owner when I can also be a producer of this content?! If I start my own podcast not only will I gain the same knowledge that I’d be learning by listening to somebody else’s show, I’m going to be getting my own name out there, being the person speaking 1 to 1 with this successful individual and building a brand around my name?! It was a no brainer in my eyes.

So, for anyone listening who is on the fence about starting a podcast, this episode is going to be about why you need to start now. Or for those of you that haven’t previously thought about it or wanted to, it may also change your perception.

The Go-Giver Philosophy: The More You Give, The More You Have - Bob Burg

Episode #024 - On today’s episode of the Podcast I had the pleasure of speaking to Bob Burg.

It is generally agreed upon that entrepreneurship is the engine that drives an economy upwards and is primarily responsible for its growth.

Entrepreneurs create jobs, bring better and more affordable products and services to the marketplace, resulting in greater societal health, overall wealth and a vastly improved standard of living. And, while we treasure the entrepreneur, one needs not start their own business in order to be one. One can be entrepreneurial within a company setting and can lead from anywhere they happen to be positioned.

Bob is the co-author of the international bestseller, The Go-Giver and a much sought-after speaker at sales and leadership conferences sharing the platform with everyone from today’s business leaders and broadcast personalities to even a former U.S. President. He shows that companies both large and small that conduct their businesses “The Go-Giver Way” are not only of much greater value to their customers; they are also significantly more functional, and profitable, as well.

The Go-Giver has sold over 925,000 copies and it has been translated into 28 languages but through all of his books Bob has sold well over 1 million copies in total.

Bob is an advocate, supporter and defender of the Free Enterprise system, believing that the amount of money one makes is directly proportional to how many people they serve. This conversation is full of value so, without any further ado, lets dive straight into today’s episode.  Enjoy

Becoming Comfortable Sharing Your Failures - Leonard Kim

Becoming Comfortable Sharing Your Failures - Leonard Kim

Episode #023 – On today’s episode of the podcast I had the pleasure of speaking to Leonard Kim. He’s an award-winning marketer, speaker and the author of Ditch the Act with McGraw-Hill Business. Leonard specifically specialises in Executive/Personal Branding, Employee Engagement Workshops and Healthcare.

As I mention time and time again, I use this podcast as a platform to share the failures and lessons learned from some of the top entrepreneurs as these are things we don’t normally get to hear about. Leonard has definitely had his fair share of failures. From losing jobs, to having to move back in with his grandparents, to being overworked and underpaid. He was literally worked to the point he almost gave up on everything. But in 2013 his life took a turn for the best and he never looked back. He discovered his passion for writing and by the end of 2014 his publications had over 10 million reads in total. An incredible achievement for such a short period of time. By the end of 2015, Leonard started working in academic medicine and launched an executive branding agency called InfluenceTree on the side. Both things excelled, heavily. The rest is history.

In this episode I delve into Leonard’s struggles and discuss the mental health issues he experienced. We discuss how he was then able to turn this all around and was then able to achieve everything he has done to date. It’s on hell of a story.

This is an incredibly interesting journey and I urge you all to listen closely. It may even provoke thoughts with regards to your perception towards mental health. And at the end of the day, if I’m able to assist even 1 person in opening up about any issues they may currently be having and help set them on the path to recovery, I will be forever fulfilled. So, without any further ado, lets dive straight into today’s episode. Enjoy.

How Having Mentors Like Jim Rohn & Zig Ziglar Can Impact You - Chris Widener

Episode #022 - On today’s episode I had the pleasure of speaking to Chris Widener who’s an incredible author and motivational speaker. I’m going to start by listing this man’s accolades because they’re definitely something to boast about: He’s a member of the motivational speakers hall of fame, he’s one of Inc magazines top 100 leadership speakers and was named one of the top 50 speakers in the world. Having completed over 2500 speaking gigs I think it’s safe to say Chris is worthy of those titles.

This is episode 22 of CEO Journals and I’m yet to delve into mentorship and I don’t know how. However, I’m glad I’ve left this until now as there is no better person on this topic than Chris. He was mentored by the 2 speaking legends Zig Ziglar and Jim Rohn. If you don’t know who either of these men are, simply google motivational business quotes and all you’ll see are quotes from these two legends. Chris actually had the please in co-authoring the 2005 book Twelve Pillars with Jim Rohn himself.

Chris and I actually discuss the importance of mentorship and how he’s found his own mentors and become the mentor to many others over his career. And we also delve deep into authenticity and integrity and we find that in this industry these two things you definitely have to be wary of.

I can assure you Chris is one of the most experienced and motivational people I’ve spoken to on the show so far, so I urge you to listen to everything this man has to say.

What It Takes To Become The CEO - Rocky Romanella

Episode #018 - On today’s episode I had the pleasure of speaking to Rocky Romanella. The Art of Inspiration is all about chasing your dreams. Rocky’s career journey, which is over 40 years, is one of those. Although no one has the only and exact answer, Rocky has stories and experiences that may help to find the recipe for success.

All of us will have to overcome obstacles and transform our lives. His career has been no different and now after a wonderful career he enjoys the opportunity to inspire people to go after their dreams no matter where they are in their life.

Rocky realises this is not a political view point but a social one, where he likes to talk about how hard work and enthusiasm are still critical components of success whether in a big company or as an entrepreneur or in life in general. There is no substitute for hard work.

Rocky is a witty, Blue-Collar Guy who rose through the ranks at UPS. He then became a CEO and Board member of a small telecom company. And today, a small business owner.

He believes that we all have a responsibility to leave things a little better than we found it. This is LEGACY.

He has even recently published a book that I think will relate to you all. Tighten the Lug Nuts: The Principles of Balanced Leadership, uses his over forty years of experience in supply chain, logistics and transportation, retail, sales and operational management at UPS, and his CEO and Director roles at a company he worked at after his UPS days. It is all about how we make choices and how those choices determine the kind of leader we can be. By following the steps that are laid out, you can truly learn the importance of Balanced Leadership.

The Art Of Making Things Happen - Steve Sims

Episode #017 - On today’s show I had the pleasure of speaking to Steve Sims.

When it comes to getting things done, Founder and CEO of theBLUEFISH.com – Steve Sims is your man. He runs a luxury concierge company and if you take a quick look at the things he has arranged for his clients, you’ll understand why his company is in such high demand. Steve is also the author of BLUEFISHING – The art of making things happen – He talks success, relationships and making the impossible, possible.

Forbes magazine called Steve “The modern-day Wizard of Oz” but, talking to him you wouldn’t think that. Steve grew up a bricklayer from London and despite his success, is still very much rooted to the ground. Steve believes that relationships are everything and he’s always looking for the win/win.

From Harvard to the Pentagon Steve has graced some of the most iconic stages in and outside of America on topics like:

  • The ROI on relationships
  • How to create an experience rather than a sale
  • Create a win win in every communication
  • And getting to talk to anyone and he means anyone

Freelancing Is The Future - Marlon Litz-Rosenzweig

Episode #014 – Marlon Litz-Rosenzweig - Back in 2012, Marlon founded MyLittleJob. the idea to connect European students to companies because he and his co-founder Daniel Barke, both realised that it was a struggle to secure a summer job while they were working at school. The jobs they could find didn’t really match what they were looking to do, but they soon noticed that it wasn’t any easier for companies to justify investing in recruitment or training for these shorter stints. This is where the bright idea of freelancing came to fruition. Five years later, MyLittleJob expanded into the U.S. and rebranded as WorkGenius once the company grew their vetted talent base with professional freelancers.

WorkGenius is a freelance workforce solution that simplifies hiring and managing freelancers with the use of Artificial Intelligence. The unemployment rate is at a record low and the lack of available talent has made it increasingly difficult to hire successfully. Almost 4 in every 10 working Americans is freelancing today and 91% of companies are struggling to find the specialised talent that they need. WorkGenius bridges together Client, Project, and Freelancer needs.

Marlon and I discuss a range of topics in today’s episode, but the main topics are the true story behind Marlon starting his company, the power of freelancing and we even touch on the struggles of scaling and building a team. There is so much value packed into this episode.

The Non-Traditional Approach To PR - Dmitry Dravilev and Corey McAveeney

Episode #013 - Dmitry Dragilev is the founder of JustReachOut.io - a DIY PR software platform which to date has helped over 5000 businesses and brands get featured in the press all on their own. Dmitry has spent over a decade in the world of marketing and was previously a software engineer. He has published over 1,500 articles and he writes for Forbes, Entrepreneur, TheNextWeb, ReadWrite, Business Insider, Wired and many others. Dmitry loves working with customers looking to independently control their SEO, content marketing, and PR - all with a focus on relationship building.

His wife, Corey McAveeney is the Head of Growth at JustReachOut where she specialises in content, community, and of course outreach. She spends a third of her day connecting with customers and making sure they're getting featured in the press, another third examining trending news headlines and dreaming up wild content ideas for customers, and another third so she says, snacking. Previously, Corey was an early employee at Culture Amp where she held roles in marketing, then sales, and then customer service. Corey left Culture Amp in 2018 when she decided to make her late night kitchen table strategy sessions with her husband official by joining JustReachOut full time.

In this episode we discuss:

  • The importance of a non-tradition approach to PR
  • Building a business as a married couple
  • Time management techniques
  • SEO Tactics
  • And so, so much more
