Re-play of episode 2: The Courage To Be Courageous

Re-play of episode 2: The Courage To Be Courageous

I loved recording this this podcast installment with my incredible friend Jordana Levenick. Feeling so blessed to have such inspiring people in my life.

We grew up differently, we raise our kids differently, we practice our Judaism differently, but with a bit of curiosity we are able to learn from each other and have a beautiful friendship based on respect and love.

Together we dream of a world where we can get past barriers and bottle up this idea of practicing curiosity, becoming informed about others beliefs and truths, and not getting stuck in our misguided observations and misconceptions.

Episode 47: Death over chocolate: Normalizing hard conversations about life and death

About our guest:

https://www.intunehealthadvocates.com/

“What do you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” was one of the thought provoking questions that Gayle Byck posed on a zoom presentation to a group of strangers last week. And the answers came forth with vulnerability, honesty, and passion.

It’s always too early to talk about death until it’s too late and that’s why Gayle and her partner are helping people get comfortable thinking about their mortality and what makes life worth living. This is the conversation most people are NOT having. This is a gift you can give yourself and your loved ones so that when the time comes (and it comes for everyone) the process is done with a little more ease, understanding, meaning, and gratitude.

Episode 39: Bubby Guta's Testimony

Kristallnacht was observed this past Tuesday evening into Wednesday evening.

If there is one woman who has inspired and impacted my life so profoundly it would be my Bubby Guta. Bubby Guta was a Holocaust survivor that lived through the Warsaw ghetto uprising, 5 concentration camps, the death March, and lost her entire family. And yet, despite it all, she remarried, had a family, and raised her children with love, hope, faith and commitment. She was a true heroine. She was the greatest most Inspired Jewish Woman that I have ever known. Not a day goes by that I do not miss my Bubby Guta. There is no one in the world that could replace her on the other side of the telephone. She passed away just under two years ago, a month shy of her 99th birthday, but her story, her mark, her legacy, and her light has never been felt stronger in my life!  I continue to celebrate her life and her legacy and her story and spirit will forever live on!

Episode 35: Preparing for the climb

Adventure awaits! And for this mother-son duo there was no turning back. Although it scared Sandy, climbing mountains with her son was their greatest quality time together so she kept moving forward, one baby step at a time.

We all climb mountains in our lives. Sometimes they are physical mountains and sometimes they are spiritual or emotional ones. But whatever the mountain or the challenge is in front of you, you need to prepare for it, embrace it, and move past it so that you can get to the top of your summit, whatever that may be.

Timely parallels and lessons for the new year. May we all get to the top of the mountains in our lives and be able to pause and take a moment to look back and see just how far we have come.

Sandy Nemer currently lives in Atlanta, GA. She is a dyslexia reading teacher, and tutors from her home office. Her passions are teaching about the Holocaust, volunteering as a Mikvah attendant, and spending time with her children.

Join me in conversation with Martine Cohen, founder of No More Layers. Martine uses her intuitive gifts and life experiences coupled with her professional training in law, education and life coaching to help guide women in removing their ‘layers’ in strategic, insightful, and uniquely customized ways. The result: Living a life with No More Layers. She shows you how to truly thrive by removing emotional layers and mental obstacles, self-realization techniques, mapping out life paths and owning your destiny.

Martine says “We are each born with a unique purpose. Our job is to remember and re-discover the inner being that we are.”

After suffering a serious concussion that medical science could not heal she felt that she owed it to herself to try and bring about her own healing. She went inward and learned to sense her energy, and help her brain heal. This healing process was so successful and eye opening to her that it started her on the path of helping other women embark upon their own healing journeys. Now her mission is in helping others peel back the layers that are not serving them well and dismantling fears or limiting beliefs.

Episode 24: My ORTHODOX Life - Standing Up Against Misrepresentation

Episode 24: My ORTHODOX Life - Standing Up Against Misrepresentation

When Alexandra Fleksher heard about her former high school teacher’s transformation from high school Judaic studies teacher to modeling executive Ms. Julia Haart, she was curious about the turn of events in her former teacher’s life. But when she saw that Ms. Haart produced and starred in a Netflix reality TV show titled “My Unorthodox Life,” Alexandra was deeply concerned about the ramifications her story and messaging would have on the global Orthodox community. As she learned more about the show and the pernicious stereotypes it peddled about Orthodox women being a monolithic group of uneducated, oppressed baby-making machines, and her portrayal of Orthodox society as a lifestyle stuck in the 1800s, Alexandra decided it was time to stand up and defend the truths of Orthodox Judaism and the truths of Orthodox women everywhere.

Alexandra created a social media campaign with the hashtags #myorthodoxlife and #thisisorthodox to give Orthodox women the space to not only tell their stories, but to stand up for misrepresentation. She wanted to showcase proud religious women who lead satisfying, healthy and fulfilling Orthodox lives and to give followers insight into actual people who are Orthodox, their personalities, their backgrounds, their beliefs, and their accomplishments. She had no idea it would blow up overnight, or that it would serve as a source of strength and inspiration for so many Orthodox men and women.

Thousands of women took to Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and even LinkedIn to share their stories, outraged and the claims made against them as Torah-observant women in the Netflix series. They recognized that the show wasn’t about one person’s story, which many felt misrepresented both the Monsey community and less-sheltered religious lifestyle that Julia in fact led. Instead, “My Unorthodox Life” was a smear campaign spouting tropes and dangerous stereotypes, and there was an army of religious women waiting who wouldn’t stand for it.

Alexandra Fleksher is an educator, speaker, op-ed columnist for Mishpacha Magazine, and co-host of the Normal Frum Women podcast.  She holds a M.S. in Jewish Education from the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and a B.A. in English/Communications from Stern College for Women. As a member of the OU Speakers Bureau, Alex had spoken for synagogues and schools around the country. She lives in Cleveland with her husband and five children.

Episode 23: Empowered To Heal

As a Holistic Practitioner, she uses nutrigenomics, microbiome research, cellular nutrition, and intelligent testing to help guide healing protocols.  Her job is to help you "figure it out", stop the spiral and reverse the process back to healing. How to stop guessing and look at the inside function of our bodies as the road map to healing.

Episode 21: The Gift Of Tears

Episode 21: The Gift Of Tears

We recently experienced the nine days of mourning, which culminated with Tisha B’av. My Rabbi Rav Yitzchak Berkowitz once taught me that you gain a certain closeness through mourning. This period of emotional toil and yearning for closeness and stronger connection with our creator gives us the energy to go into a good and productive time ahead (please G-d!) with Elul and the high holidays around the corner.

Join me in conversation with my dear friend Elissa Felder who talks about the gift of tears. We learn from Elissa’s shinning example how she is able to sit with her pain and therefore make space for others to sit with theirs. She has searched and found meaning for herself within her own grief and through this, she has found ways to help others. Such a gift. May all our collective tears of pain be turned into tears of joy and May we see better times ahead for all.

Episode 19: Intuitive Energy Healing

Episode 19: Intuitive Energy Healing

You are a divine soul having a human experience.

Imagine your potential.

The physical world can be a hard place to live, and at the same time, our souls transcend time, space and body.

It seems complex to find your purpose and integrate the two until you meet a healer like Jodi. Jodi looks at your life as an open book, able to read chapters starting before you were even born. These chapters, written as previous lives, give her insight into your soul, your body, your emotional triggers, trauma, and healing work the person in front of her needs to do in their lifetime.

Jodi Basch is originally from New York, has a masters in museum education, and worked as an educator for over twenty years. A move to Colorado 12 years ago provided a space for Jodi to discover and validate her gifts as a healer, empath, and intuitive. Jodi sees beyond the physical body into the essence of a person’s soul. She helps move blocked energy in the body that manifests as illness, she sees past life stories and current life patterns, and reveals ancestral and karmic lessons of why you are here. With just a picture or a name, Jodi can speak to people (even children) on a soul level, in order to help parents understand their children, spouses, and even themselves. Jodi uses these gifts to help thousands of people across the world, creating shifts in consciousness and understanding through a simple phone call. Jodi now lives in Florida with her family.  www.jodisenergy.com
