A Few Thoughts on the Call to Ministry (Part 2)
Today Paul and I wrap up the rest of our conversation on the "call" to ministry (specifically pastoral ministry). Last time we left off talking about Spurgeon, and that is where we pick up this week.
This episode did end up being quite long, so we split it into two episodes, the first of which was published last week. Apologies for the split, but we hope this is a bit more manageable.

A Few Thoughts on the Call to Ministry (Part 1)
Today we have another guest! Paul Schmidt joins the podcast to chat about the call to ministry (pastoral ministry). This is by no means an exhaustive exploration of the topic, but, as the title suggests, a few thoughts.
This episode did end up being quite long, so we split it into two episodes, the second of which will be published next week. Apologies for the split, but we hope this is a bit more manageable.

(Not all that) Grand Finale
The end of season one is upon us! ...As it turns out the end actually came a couple weeks ago but because of busyness I haven't been able to edit and upload. Which Side of the Proverb are You On?
Turns out the lives of two laymen within the local church can get a little busy sometimes! This week, without much preparation, we are at least able to update you guys a bit about what's been going on in our lives and still share what we've been learning during the events. And we were able to read some things too, which is always nice.

Book Review - The Art of Neighboring (Part 1)
Today we start our book review of The Art of Neighboring (as you probably figured out by the title). Desiree has finished while I (Daniel) have not, so we'll be exploring what Desiree thought of the book. Also, we have a proper podcast setup finally! ...and don't worry, the rest of the usual segments are here as well. Enjoy!
P.S. I promise to figure out what writing tense is proper for these descriptions. Sorry for all of you grammar people who are driven crazy by these mixed tenses (I/we mixed with he/they).

Catechism Question 01
Today we begin the Catechism (and not just the introduction to the Catechism). Beginning with the doctrine of God, we ask first "Who is God?" and take a look at how Scripture addresses this question. This week we introduce you to our new material - a yet unreleased Catechism! After the Move
...And we're back! After a week off (sorry about that!) we are back behind the mic, but with no script because moving (specifically unpacking) has been quite a bit busier that we expected. This week's a bit of a grab bag (although we do have all four regular segments) as we bounce around talking about what has been going on in our lives and how we have been privileged to recognize God's blessing in our lives. Also, Daniel tries to provide food for thought but instead has his train of thought leave him behind.

We're Moving?
Today we talk about our move! And don't worry, we talk about how moving is something that local church members ought to think about in relation to one another rather than just boring you with details of our move. To wrap things up, Sophia wakes up early and starts crying. Enjoy!

Thinking about Marriage
Today we discussed some things that God used to shape our thinking about marriage. From situations with unbelievers to faithful members of our local church to, ultimately and finally, His Word, God used many situations and people to help us better understand His design for marriage. We also included a bit about what's new in our lives and what we have been (and will continue to be) reading.

Book Review - What is a Healthy Church
In today's episode I review a book (a very short book) called What is a Healthy Church by Mark Dever. Without completely explaining everything I seek to whet your appetite for reading this little book on what it looks like to have (and strive for) a healthy church. As usual, we discuss what we're doing at the beginning and what we're reading at the end.

Paul on the Lord's Supper (Part 2)
Desiree and Daniel finally get back to talking about the Lord's Supper! This time the text is 1 Corinthians 10 (especially verses 16 and 17) and the focus is on the relationship between the unity of the church and the church's participation in the Lord's Supper. As usual there is a bit of preliminary banter to start the episode (and explain why there was no episode last week) and at the end an update on what Daniel and Desiree are reading.

Thinking About Christmas
We welcome our first guests! In today's episode Daniel and Desiree interview Jason and Katie Stalcup, a couple from their local church, about how believers in Christ can and should think about and approach Christmas. They also chat about what they've been up to and what they have been reading.
(This audio has actually been replaced since the original upload. It is the same content, but without the unbearable echo that was present before. The episode was also re-uploaded in July 2022 because of the fixed audio quality. Please enjoy the audio in either episode, as they are the same now. And, to all of you who listened to this before it was fixed, my thanks for your dedication.)

Christmas Traditions
In the first of two Christmas episodes Desiree and Daniel share a bit about what Christmas was like for them growing up. Many people celebrate Christmas in very different manners, and some don't even celebrate at all. For Desiree and Daniel there were a couple things they enjoyed for various reasons with their families. Also, as usual, they start with "what's new" and finish with "what we're reading". Enjoy the episode, and don't forget to listen in next week to catch the first ever (and very special!) guest(s) on the show!

Paul on the Lord's Supper (Part 1)
The usual three segments: What We're Doing, What We're Learning, and What We're Reading. We did some fun stuff, we're learning from the mistakes the Corinthians made, and we're pushing on in the Chronicles of Narnia as well as some more (light) theological reading.
