Accessing Authenticity and Wisdom in Life and Business Through Neurology with Kim Everitt - 041

Accessing Authenticity and Wisdom in Life and Business Through Neurology with Kim Everitt - 041

Kim is the founder and CEO of the NeuroCoach Institute, a leading coaching academy.  The Neurocoach Institute qualifies coaches and provides professional coaching services to businesses and individuals. She is a Teacher, NeuroCoach, Author, Facilitator, and Keynote speaker. Kim has extensive experience in the professional coaching industry and has qualified hundreds of coaches and worked with numerous large to entrepreneurial companies, with a focus on leaders and managers. She is also the author of various coaching manuals, methodologies as well as numerous published articles. Noteworthy questions: What is our brain made up of? What does it look like when all three brains are working optimally and communicating together effectively? What does it look like when burnout happens in each of our brain centers? Key takeaways 3 brains: head, heart, and gut. The head brain is cognitive perception and meaning, the heart brain is all about our emotions and how we relate to things, and finally, our gut brain's main function is about mobilization toward reward and away from fear and danger.  Our prefrontal cortex is designed to preserve energy. Foundational sequence: start with the heart, then the head, back to the heart, and then the gut and finally back to the heart. You are not going to trust something that you haven't spent time with (your different brain centers). We need to give each of our brains its own platform to do what it needs to do. Reframing Fears & Fixations For Freedom & Fulfillment with Yolandi Dercksen - 040

Reframing Fears & Fixations For Freedom & Fulfillment with Yolandi Dercksen - 040

Yolandi is the managing director for the NeuroCoach institute. Yolandi has extensive training, skills & development experience and is an accredited SETA & TETA assessor & moderator. She is also a qualified Occupationally Directed- Education, Training & Development Practitioner with a bunch of certifications and years of experience.

She also describes herself as a mother, a wife, an educator, a coach, a mentor, and loving it all. She truly believes in coaching as it is the process of assisting people to think about things differently. This is something very foundational to the mission of Exploring Possibility.

Noteworthy questions:
  • What do you mean by fears and fixations and how does that relate to fulfillment?
  • Why do some people pop quick fix pills instead of using the tools readily available from the body?
  • How do we distinguish between sympathetic and parasympathetic systems?

Key takeaways

  • With our inner world, we need to explore ways of how to get our inner world back.
  • Reframing is about looking at ourselves from the 3rd person and is a 3-step process: acknowledge, observe, and create a new story.
  • The moment we feel stuck, that is the moment that the sympathetic system goes into overdrive.
  • Balanced breathing: inhale for 6sec, hold for 6sec, exhale for 6sec. We’re balancing the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems.

Managing Identity For Optimal Performance And Using Failure To Fuel Growth with Harris Fanaroff - 032

Harris Fanaroff is a former Lehigh University baseball player who now helps businesses, leaders, and athletes have difficult conversations. Conversations which are necessary for growth and optimal performance.

As a leadership and business development coach, Harris has a gift for helping people uncover the deep issues that hold them back from excellence in business and in life.

Through his own journey we’re able to digest his decision making framework and see how he has had to make his way through seemingly tough decisions and moments within his sport career. He had to adapt his story to become who he is today and to share that in a way that helps others go forward.

Noteworthy questions:
  • What are the limitations and dangers of getting attached to an identity? (8:39)
  • How do we approach a flexible identity? (10:38)
  • What can we do to build our confidence to perform more optimally? (14:18)
  • How do we get into a flow state? (20:04)
  • How do you deal with failure? (24:59)

Key takeaways

  • Approach identity from a wider perspective and spread out what the ‘label’ or title means to you so that you can experience less of a drop during a transition period.
  • You need to be prepared enough to not think while performing.
  • When you can control and choose your self talk then you immediately take control of your performance.
  • Control controllables and let uncontrollables go. You get to decide how you react and show up with the provided data.
  • Nothing big has truly ever been accomplished without a huge failure next to it.

Elevate Your Mental Performance By Winning Your Mental Game with Sebastian Little - 026

Sebastian Little - NCAA Division I football player, leadership speaker, and mental performance coach. Having learned, implemented, studied, and taught mental performance strategies, Sebastian retains an authentic first-hand connection between theory and application.

He frequently works with individual athletes, teams, and schools to drive results at all levels of the organization.

His mission: To build a world where leaders, teams, and organizations show up and perform at their best every single day.

Noteworthy questions:
  • What is the mental game? (10:10)
  • How important is it to work on the mental game? (11:47)
  • What are the actual rewards for high performance? (21:07)
  • How can we improve our mental capacity? (29:11)
Key takeaways
  • Through pain comes a lot of resilience.
  • Most of our mental game is structured around routine.

He teaches how to apply a working knowledge of influence and persuasion to real-life practical situations, to be able to lead, sell, negotiate, market and inspire on a new level.

Your Mindset Underpins Your Business And Your Mental Health with Tristan Wright - 013

Tristan defines himself as a business sherpa and he is based in Melbourne with a background in leadership coaching and applied business. Unlike many coaches and consultants, however, Tristan has actually built a business – from an ad-hoc startup in his 3 square-meter kitchen to a 7-figure operation with staff and suppliers around the globe.

In doing so, He’s acquired first-hand experience in everything related to business. He has survived the personal aspects of entrepreneurship as well. He’s let the allure of success (and fear of failure) consume every waking minute, and learned the hard lessons seldom taught by anyone.

Noteworthy questions:
  • How did you get awareness of and eliminate your mental health issues? (10:52)
  • What is the shiny object syndrome and how do we escape it? (19:40)
  • How do we find clarity? (20:27)

  • How do we deal with not having energy or enough time for our business / life? (27:32)
  • What is one habit people benefit from to improve their business and life drastically? (34:29)

  • It’s part of life to feel pain. It also shows that we are human.
  • The number one step in business coaching is mindset coaching, it underpins everything else.
  • Start with the end in mind when you are thinking of goals and your vision.

Bridget is the founder of shift 1 degree which helps people grow their business. She hosts workshops and coaching for professionals or businesses looking to reach their goals. In 2012, Jack started a coaching school in Australia called the Australian Institute of coaching and sold it in 2015. It’s still remains one of the most successful life coaching schools in Australia.

His journey started with a Tony Robbins event so have a listen through to listen to his exciting story, background and insights!

You Are Always Greater Than What You Think with Warren Munitz - 005

You Are Always Greater Than What You Think with Warren Munitz - 005

Sometimes we are not sure how to navigate ourselves in life and then the simple answer to the confusion is to ask for help. In this episode I spoke to Warren Munitz, Executive Coach, Integration Therapist, Master NLP Coach & Trainer, Hypnotherapist & Founder of Integrative Coaching.

Warren has been in the field of personal development and self-mastery for over 20 years.  In this time, he studied many different forms of meditation, yoga, philosophy, empowerment, psychotherapies and esoteric paths.

Some questions I asked:

  • Typical week for personal development & executive coaches? (3:32)
  • Why did you become a coach? (5:14)
  • Do we go at life together or go alone? (9:30)
  • Do we need goals? (13:50)
  • Why do lose motivation or encouragement towards goal achievement? (24:49)
  • Do beliefs control our life?  (38:33)
  • Do we have infinite potential? (53:21)

Key takeaways:

  • You can only reach as high as the team you have around you.
  • The journey is not one or the other approach. It’s an integrative approach.
  • Wisdom is the ability to hold two opposing perspectives at the same time and not judging either
  • Be consistent when you want to create and achieve goals
  • In the process of innovation you need to delay premature closure. The longer you delay closure, the more innovation you can get.
  • You need to tear down the beliefs that have been shielding ultimate reality from you.

The Secret To Happiness Has To Do With The War On Comfort Zones with Martelize Brink - 004

The Secret To Happiness Has To Do With The War On Comfort Zones with Martelize Brink - 004

Martelize woke up one morning with pain in her legs. Doctors suspected a virus, infection or inflammation in her spinal cord and this left her paralyzed. This all happened by the age of 14. Martelize has been in a wheelchair for over 20 years due to this illness she experienced as a teen. Through her seemingly discomforting situation, she felt complete freedom and joy and chose to look at life through the lens of optimism. In 2012 she started the Pink Penguin project in support of charities that challenge her outside of her comfort zone. Via this channel she’s undertaken a number of extreme adventures including kayaking to Robben Island and visiting the forests of Rwanda to see gorillas, all without the use of her legs and that is what inspires me.

Some questions I asked:

  • How can we get beyond our life restrictions? (10:36)
  • What does it mean to have war on comfort zones? (18:36)
  • Why do people think and behave the way they do? (24:38)
  • What are your fears? (28:38)
  • Has restrictions on your life helped you and is it helpful? (31:35)
  • How do you deal with indecisiveness? (35:15)
  • Actionable advice to change our perspective on life? (43:09)

Key takeaways:

  • Go through troublesome times one step at a time
  • Use stubbornness to your advantage and move forward in life
  • Say yes to opportunities without knowing how you will get it done
  • The secret to happiness has to do with the war on comfort zones
  • You absolutely need to challenge yourself outside of your comfort zone to grow
  • Take the necessary steps, although they might be scary, or be unhappy for the rest of your life
  • STRUGGLE is one of the best character builders in the world

  • What fears do you have? (18:44)
  • Who inspires you? (20:25)
  • How can running make you a better person? (23:24)

  • Trail running requires an exceptional amount of mental toughness to endure such long distances especially at a fast pace
  • It’s a blessing when you are disadvantaged or come from a struggling background as it forces you to dream big!

The Key To Life Is Living Your Highest Values And Understanding How They Work with Nershen Pillay - 002

The Key To Life Is Living Your Highest Values And Understanding How They Work with Nershen Pillay - 002

Nershen Pillay is a Demartini Method Facilitator for Dr. John Demartini and a human behavior specialist who researches quantum physics, cell biology, neurology, brain chemistry and more, all in the pursuit of understanding which laws govern us. In this episode we discuss how and why we should live a life according to our highest values.

Some questions I asked:

  • How to empower someone who is stuck in 9-5? (14:36)
  • How are we causing our suffering through positivity? (26:53)
  • Do we need to view both the positive and the negative side of things? (33:57)
  • How do we stay in balance? (39:02)
  • How can we break a habit? (42:43)

Key takeaways:

  • Cells are more responsive to energy and our thinking than to the actual material in the body. With medicine, only 10% of the receptors on your cells respond to chemicals.
  • Your genetics get triggered by an outside influence, it’s called epigenetics. It is far more influential than your genes than your physiology than your actual genes.
  • The key to inspiration at work: look at the job traits or tasks that you physically do and link them to what’s most important to you in your life, your priorities or values.
  • There lies massive power in gratitude
  • You get what you are, not what you want. If you are lacking, you get more lack.
  • The quality of life is based on the quality of questions you ask yourself

Do The Things That Set Your Soul On Fire with Andrew Patterson - 001

Do The Things That Set Your Soul On Fire with Andrew Patterson - 001

Andrew Patterson dedicated himself to a larger cause after being retrenched from his seemingly specialized job. He climbed Table mountain every day for an entire year and donated all the money raised to charity. We discuss why he did it, what we can learn from it and how people can commit themselves to something bigger to achieve better results.

Some questions I asked:

  • Do people need to experience pain before changing their lives? (26:05)
  • What does the word Ubuntu mean? (30:00)
  • Advice for people to listen to their inner voice? (34:03)
  • How to stay consistent and persist with your endeavors? (40:05)
  • What can people do to broaden their perspectives? (59:46)

Key takeaways:

  • People procrastinate because they lack clarity on what they want to do or if they do know what to do then they procrastinate because they don’t know how to get there
  • If you do not have a purpose then it’s easy to hit the snooze button in the morning when you actually need to get up early
  • The pain in which you are living now needs to be greater than the pain of trying to get to where you want to go in order to make a big change in your life
  • Just because you are not responsible for someone else’s suffering does not mean you can’t be part of the solution
  • Do the things that put your soul on fire!
  • Ideas come from within. Ideas come to you with a specific purpose and you should act on them. All you need to know is that you have all the resources within you to ACT on the idea.
  • It’s not that we don’t listen to our inner voice but rather that we get caught up in other people’s opinions. People don’t see the full puzzle, they only see a piece of the puzzle.
