Don’t Let The Weekend Be Your Weak-End

In this episode: We’re addressing the weekend struggle What’s often intended to be just one cheat day often spirals into a full on weekend. If you’re saying, ‘I had a good week last week’ I tracked, I stuck to my calories, but ruined it over the weekend, but it’s OK today is Monday, I can start over, and if you said that last Monday and the Monday before here’s my top tips on how you can be free from the diet starts Monday mindset!⠀ I asked the question “when it comes to weight loss what’s your biggest struggle” & the amount of “weekends” responses I got inspired me to write this post ⠀ 1️⃣ WHAT Are the ingrained habits that you do that you might not even be aware of. Not drinking enough water, catching up on sleep because you’re so exhausted! Or snacking so much that you don’t even realise you got through all that until the end of movie or your favourite TV show has finished? 2️⃣ WHERE Can you begin to take small actionable steps to tackle these habits. Maybe you can spend 1-2 hours on a Sunday batch cooking, lunches and dinner so your meals are ready for each day & add in some snacks too. Maybe you can plan a date night out, without feeling like you have to eat takeaway just because your husband brings it home, offer to have a date night at home & cook your favourite meal + save the money you maybe would’ve spent eating out 3️⃣ WHEN 📅 Put it in writing. Create an action plan for yourself. Set reminders and another few after that. Set so many reminders, use sticky notes that it will be HARD for you to not put these steps into place. Prepare your workout clothes the night before, if you struggle to make time for breakfast, prepare some overnight oats, then grab + go in the morning. When we put a plan in place and see it taking shape this excites us, encourages us, motivates us to keep going & put these changes into practice & repeat the process once you’ve addressed each habit I’d love to be able to say it’s easy but I’d be lying if I did. I'm doing everything right, but still not losing weight, what am I doing wrong?

"I'm doing everything right but still not losing weight; what am I doing wrong?" Ever made this same statement? I know I have, and recently, one of my clients said the same thing. When it comes to weight loss, we often expect it to be a linear process, but we soon discover that its anything but linear, especially if you're someone who has been dieting for several years, and no matter what you do, you can't seem to shift the extra weight. In today's episode, we talk about three things that might be As this is a generic episode, there is a possibility that these three things may not apply to you, and does that mean you're the problem? Not at all. It just means there isn't a one size fits all approach. That is fine; we want personalised results and a personalised plan that's specific to you, and for you, that takes everything about you into consideration fad diets don't consider that. If you struggle with cravings & can’t stop craving something sweet after dinner here’s what you can do instead...

Hey friends! Verona here, I wanted to quickly share some wisdom about sweet cravings

When PMS hits where all you want is your fave sweet treats, but feel like you can’t because you’re trying your best to lose weight...

No wonder the struggle is real because it takes an incredible amount of willpower to be able to resist sweets after a meal at night & even more so that time of the month

BUT that’s what every fad diet out there is telling us to do.

Then what happens is, most people think they only way to kick sweet cravings is to obliterate ALL sugars even the ones in their favourite fruits BUT..

In reality though, what actually happens is, when we tell ourselves we can’t have this we end up with insatiable cravings

Much like restriction... no matter how hard we try, we’ll eventually find ourselves craving it more & more until we give in

In this episode we talk cravings around that time of the month

To help combat cravings for sugar, instead of trying to restrict you from it completely, I take a different approach with my clients where the sweets they don’t want to give up are part of the plan.

As a result they have less “the struggle is real sugar cravings because they’re not telling themselves they’re “off limits”

In the second episode of the
The Diet Mentality Series,

I talk about this ever popular ways of eating, that both men and women are adopting in a way for them to lose weight, and to lose it quickly!

In this episode you will learn whether the 1200 calorie diet is suitable for every woman, and why this is the case for some women and not for others, and why 1200 calories is not a blanket rule to lose weight, yet so many have been led to believe that this is is for everyone.


Do you find yourself sharing that you don't fell as if you've lost that much weight, you're in a calorie deficit and you felt great as you've lost the weight, but now it's just stopped and you don't know why, or what to do, and you question, should you create less of a deficit, and look through your breakfast lunch and dinner and see where you can slash more calories to continue losing weight.


Do you find yourself in a one way monologue with yourself saying " the book said, to lose weight I need to be a in a deficit and the diet plan will help me do that, so I can't understand what's going wrong, is it me.

You weigh yourself every,single,day and the scales have changed and say that you've put on 5lbs overnight and you instantly want to throw away the scales at this point, the words in your head are now racing, you're like I don;t get it, I'm doing loads of things I haven't cheated once, why have I put the weight back on?

We go over and over these questions in our minds and friends its Exhausting, your friends family's and partners begin to share concern because they notice that you've become a little obsessed with counting calories, or exercise and they don't know what to say or how to support you.

Why am I not losing weight?

One of THE MOST frequent questions I answer is this one, maybe you've even asked this same question yourself at one time or another. . Picture this, you're working out every day, in a calorie deficit, you haven't ‘cheated’, but you can't understand why you're not losing weight and you question yourself by asking, "what am I doing wrong?" Firstly, it's not your fault, and this is something that I teach both in my group coaching and 1:1 coaching in more depth working on and through the things that cause you to doubt your efforts and also working through the self sabotage mindsets, however, when it comes to calories though, this is where it gets a bit tricky. ‘Calories in’ are fairly simple in itself, and needs no introduction, it’s when it comes to calories OUT is where its multilayered and can often times be a bit more complicated than its often portrayed to be, which is why you ask "what am I doing wrong"  Now in this episode we go deep into some of the reasons why your weight loss has appear to come to a stand still, and what you can do to shift things into gear and get things moving. Are you killing it in the gym or at home your nutrition is ok, but... The scales aren’t shifting, it’s been 4 weeks of this You’re feeling super proud of yourself & so you should, you’ve taken those fears and CRUSHED them So you up the anti & go harder than you’ve ever done... But what makes it worse is: ✅ You’re super exhausted ✅ Stress is through the roof ✅ Excruciating pain in your ankles ✅ inflammation ✅ 😴 is a distant memory ✅ You take a painkiller & keep moving ✅ Work is crazy BUSY ✅ You don’t eat your first meal until 2pm ✅ Juggling Mum life, school, home, is taking its toll but you gotta keep going who else is hold to do it? One HONEST question to ask yourself is, is this taking you closer to or away from your goals? If the answer comes back as it’s taking you nowhere, then CHNAGE it Yup. You have the power to make the change. If you want to SEE change. BE the change YOU want to see Your body is TELLING you that it NEEDS rest. TAKE. A. BREAK from ❌ Worrying you’ll lose your progress ❌ Worrying that if you eat MORE especially if you’re not getting enough nutrients, because you think you’re going to gain it all back. There are ways you can eat more. Am I selfish for wanting me time?

When it comes to taking care of ourselves, we often get put to the back burner and we either go in to full on supermum mode, or we get so stuck into to helping others, that we neglect ourselves, and have regular hair bun days, because, it's just easier and way more comfortable to move around in right?  I've been there, but, when it comes to our nutrition how many of us just grab whatever we can, or eat the children's food they didn't finish, or think, I'll eat when the kids have gone to bed, but end up grazing and mindlessly snacking throughout the day, that when it comes to dinner time, we don't really know what we've eaten.  The truth is though, taking care of yourself and having in regular times for yourself where you either spend time with yourself, or finding time for exercise, Pilates or some yoga is not selfish, but sadly, there are many who have this negative thinking that stops you from doing the things that you want to do. You often think that just because they're Athlete's they don't suffer the same issues as you do, but that's not the case, when it comes to an Eating Disorder or how food is viewed, it's no respecter of persons, age, or profession, and can affect anybody In this episode we discuss how this Ex-Athlete face her own pressures to conform to a perceived image in order to be deemed 'good enough' for her chosen sport, and the pressure to continue to main their her certain body weight and shape.  Despite the number of nutritionists, counsellors and meal plans there was still something that needed to change and Emily of girls gone healthy shares how she turned some of her challenges that she faced into a Podcast to help and educate young girls who may also be struggling with the same issues she did as an athlete.  Emily shares her candid truth and also shares her passion about helping others, and this episode marks the 3rd of a 4 part series on The Diet Mentality Series.
