Fierce and Ferocious

Reflecting on Sally Rooney's writing, and interviews with Zadie Smith, this episode is about our craft. How does writing about social dynamics change with social media? How can women push for a uniquely feminine voice? How do we strip back language to make our writing more humanistic, and less analytical? We can feel rage, shame, joy, happiness and pain through art. That's why the role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistable.

In our first episode we discuss women's safety at university, media conversations around violence against women and how sexism begins in the classroom. I reflect on messages I received from women on social media and how we can move forwards.

In this unfiltered, raw, passionate episode we talk about some topics which have been trending regarding male violence over women and abortion, the importance of differentiating between culture and religion, and my own journey with feminism. 

I definitely want to do more episodes deconstructing female sexuality in culture and religion so think of this episode as an introductory one and hopefully I'll go into greater detail in the future.

In our very first episode we will be discussing body image and eating disorders. First going a little into my journey, then the stereotypes of Black and Brown women with eating disorders in the media, and different representations of body dysmorphia. I finish with reciting one of my poems about recovery. I have attached some information and helpline links to the description if this is a triggering topic.
