Check out this episode as Lisa shares with us her journey as a teen mother and how God revealed that his promises apply to her. Her Life was changed as she stood on God's promises and stopped listening to what others had to say.
During this episode we had the opportunity to interview 90 year old Faith Mama, Leatrice Brown. Grandma Lee (as she told us to call her) shared with us her testimony of losing her child due to domestic violence and then becoming the caregiver of her granddaughter. Grandma Lee gives a lot of strategies and encouragement for sticking close to God during difficult situations.
If you are experiencing domestic abuse here are some resources for you. Remember you are not alone:
During this episode, Faith Mamas Dominique, Jernise, and Ryann talk about the faith walk and having a faith perspective. They also let everyone in on the upcoming Faith Mamas radio network and encouragement app.
During this episode Jernise shares a time in her life when all seemed hopeless. She and her husband were going through a separation. She had a child that she began to take care of primarily alone and she was wondering how she got her. Jernise tells the story about how God got restored her hope after it seemed impossible.
Hope through Love
This week Dominique, Jernise, and Ryann continue the discussion of hope. This week we are talking about hope through the lens of love and how does a breach in your love bucket impact your love. This week our activity has three parts:
1. Speak and write the hope vision God is giving you.
2. Ask yourself why is it difficult for me to accept this hope.
3. Get a prayer partner and ask God to heal that area of your life and find a scripture to stand on.
Hey Faith Mamas!
We are so excited that you are listening to this episode. During this episode Dominique, Jernise, and Ryann dig in to the topic of hope and uncover that hope is an active expectation. Often times our active expectation is rooted in pain and fear. Together we dive into how to take our expectations away from fear and root them in God’s word so that it is God’s promises that begin to manifest in our life.
Our challenge this week is to plug into the Faith Mamas Facebook group and begin reading through the book of Genesis together so that we can learn MORE about God and He can give us a hope along the way. In order to plug into the Faith Mamas Facebook Group you can go onto the Facebook Page at Faith Mama Mondays and find the group/ community on the page. If you would like to participate in the reading but you do not have Facebook, please email us at email@example.com.

Scriptures: Philippians 4:6-7 & Matthew 6
Challenge Activity: Create a prayer box
Today we will be talking about peace and motherhood. What does the scriptures say about our peace? Is peace achievable in motherhood? Together, Dominique, Jernise, and Ryann will dig in to this topic.
Our focus scripture today will be coming from Philippians 4:6-7
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Our challenge homework- Uncover some of the things that are stealing your peace and dig deeper by asking why to find the root
He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,
– 2 Timothy 1:9
I must be honest, I have spent most of my life looking for my calling, my purpose, my destiny here on this earth. I have wondered and wandered trying to figure out who I was and why I was. And when I became a mom I think I became even more lost. It was like, not only did I not know why I was here, but now I am in the position of motherhood where I felt I did not have the time or space to figure anything else out. I mean in the midst of dirty diapers, spit up, and the never ending pile of laundry WHEN would I have the time to figure out who I was?! Have you ever felt this way?
On this weeks podcast Jernise, Ryann, and I (Dominique) got the opportunity to dig into the scripture above and we stumbled onto a truth that we didn’t expect. Often times when we think of what we are called to do we are thinking about a position. Like, am I called to be a doctor? Am I called to be a lawyer? and I called to be a mother? We so often times tie positions to our identity which is why when we are asked “Who are you?” we tend to run off a list of positions. But, on this weeks podcast we came face to face with the truth. Our call is not what position we fill, our call is to respond godly no matter what position we are in.
Sure, maybe we do not have our dream job yet, but that does not mean that we are not walking out our call. Every time we respond to a tough situation with love… We are walking out our call. Every time the storm feels like it is raging all around but we remain in peace… We are walking out our call. Every time we feel panicked and a sense of urgency well up inside, but we choose to walk in patience… We are walking out our call.
We have made the concept of being called so complicated when it is really so simple.
Check out the podcast this week as we talk about:
What does it mean to be called?
How can we accept and walk in this calling?
…And of course it wouldn’t be a Faith Mamas podcast without those #Momlife moments
Mama, we pray that this podcast blesses you. We would love to hear from you. What do you believe it means to be called? What were some of your take aways from today’s podcast?
There are times when the question "what am I called to do?" Could be anxiety provoking . As a mom often. Times we look at all the things we have to do and then wondering if it's even possible to do anything more? Is it even possible to walk out a calling in the midst of motherhood?
Podcast show host Dominique Young, Jernise Lee, & Ryann N. Gaines truly stumble on a gem in God's word today... The truth is our calling is not designed for us to carry alone. Join us today as we talk about the communal nature of being called.
We'd love to hear your thoughts after today's podcast! How is your calling communal? Why is important to look at our individual calling from a communal lens?
