The Faithful Fan, Ep. 206: "Bucky Barnes and Exploring Worthiness"
Kindness is a gift🎁. Having the faith and backing of our friends is a gift. But the greatest gift of all is Jesus humbling himself to come live among us, withstand torture and death on a cross for US, and then be resurrected in all His glory. There is a distinct difference between being humble about these gifts, and feeling unworthy or worthless to receive them...Would you open yourself up to receive the gift of Christ? No one is too far gone🙏🏻 *Originally released on March 21, 2021 via Instagram*

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 205: "Grief, WandaVision, and 'Jesus wept'"
How beautiful is it to know that Jesus knows our grief and has compassion for us? That even in the midst of our darkest moments, the God who created the universe desires a personal relationship with us? And, how sweet is it to know that even superheroes, and Jesus, grieve? This devo is a little longer, but as we come into the year-anniversary of living with COVID and all that entails, we want to explore grief from the perspective of WandaVision and the Bible🙏🏼 *Originally released on March 7th, 2021 via Instagram*

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 311: "Re-introduction & reflections; Praises & prayer."
Welcome back to The Faithful Fan, our devotional series brought to you by me, Ashley Cox, through our business and ministry Fangirling Over Jesus. I promise I'm still working on a Part II to our episode 310, but in the meantime, God has been working in amazing ways over the past month or so, through the anniversary of my dad's passing away, to Galaxy Con Raleigh (where I got to hang out A LOT with Hector at Faith and Fandom), and to the 48 Hour Film Project! Some of you are newer to FOJ, so I thought I would take this time to reintroduce myself, and also share how I have seen God moving lately. Love you guys, and I hope this episode, while not our traditional devotional format, is encouraging to you! The Faithful Fan, Ep. 310: "Our Weakness is Our Strength: The Obi Wan Kenobi Season Finale, Pt. 1"
🌟“Your strength has returned, but the weakness still remains!”🌟 I get chills every time I watch the season finale for the Obi Wan series because of this quote and scene. There is so much behind it—so many memories, emotions, and you can see Hayden and Ewan playing that out sooooo well. I’ve been wanting to do a devo on this episode for SO LONG! And now Part I is finally here🙌🏻🎉 • Referenced verses: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Deuteronomy 31:6 Isaiah 40:31 Psalm 121

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 309: "'Kenoses', the Obi-Wan Kenobi & Moses Mash-Up!
🌟 “Let the past die.” “You’re the only one we trust.” “Please, old friend. One last fight.”🌟  Do you believe God can use you, mistakes, strengths, weaknesses, failures, and all? Do you forgive yourself through the blame and shame you’ve heaped onto yourself? Do you believe God knows you enough to stay with you? Do you trust that God's grace can be sufficient? These last few episodes of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” have inspired me to dive back into the story of the burning bush and Moses, and how God called him into a great mission to lead his people out of Egypt, and the reluctancy Moses showed in that situation. I think Kenobi hesitates in a similar fashion when Bail Organa comes to him to help in the search for Leia. What would you do—step out in faith, or cling to a shadow of who you could be in God?🙏🏼

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 308: "In darkness and defeat, hope survives." - Ashley guest speaks at UNCOMMON about grief
My good friend Christopher Williams invited me to come speak to his community group Uncommon last week, and the theme I felt like God was leading me into was discussing grief. How we go through it, how I personally went through it over this past year with the death of my dad, and where Jesus is in our grief as well as how He grieves with us. I hope this longer devotional/sermon conversation can be encouraging to you!

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 307: “Yoda to Kanan: ‘I am here because you are here.’ Happy Easter!”
“Know I am here because you are here.” I love this quote from Yoda to Kanan Jarrus in episode 110 of #StarWarsRebels because it’s something I feel like I could hear Jesus saying to us. And the beautiful thing is, Jesus DID come here, to Earth, because we were here and we needed rescuing. He endured the most horrible torture and death so that we could have freedom—what greater love is there? Praise God that He meets us where we are. We probably won’t stay there, as God continues to work in us. 😉 But we can rest in knowing we are part of His kingdom! • • • • #starwars #starwarsfan #kananjarrus #kananjarrusedit #yoda #yodaedit #starwarsedit #eastersunday #easter2022 #resurrectionsunday #churchonline #thefaithfulfan #dailydevotional #gospel #JesusisKing #Jesusisrisen #Godisgood #faithful #christian #Believer #geekgirl #nerdalert #nerdchapel #faithandfandom #holyweek

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 207: "Holy Thursday and Natasha Romanoff's Sacrifice"
It’s Holy Thursday! As we go through Holy Week, listen in to how Natasha’s sacrifice in Endgame points us to the EVEN GREATER sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Her death helped bring back millions from the blip, but Jesus’ death AND resurrection saved us all from eternal death and separation from God, if only we would believe in Him and repent. Jesus humbled himself to come down and live as a human among us, to get right to the moment of his sacrifice: His death and resurrection to save us. While not Jesus, Natasha Romanoff also worked for years to get right to the moment where the Avengers might succeed in defeating Thanos once and for all.

FOJ Special Announcement!! Happy #TanoTuesday! (March 22, 2022)
Happy #TanoTuesday! We have a super exciting announcement for you guys, so please listen to this video🧡💙🤍! More information/answers to questions are below in the caption, but this is some thing we are thrilled to partner with you on and it’s something that we believe God is leading us into. We have the amazing opportunity to impact a child’s life, and I pray that you would consider partnering with us!🙏🏻😃 1. Why Compassion Int’l? They take a long-term approach to child development by investing in and for the life of each child, for physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs and education. 2. What do they do? They provide holistic child development. When we commit to a child, CI provides life-changing opportunities such as: - an opportunity to attend or stay in school - medical care, which often saves lives - nourishing food - mentoring and a safe environment through a local evangelical church - and most important, opportunities to hear the gospel. 3. Why is the goal at least 20 patrons on Patreon? The monthly amount needed to support a child is $38. If we have at least 20 patrons (even if they are all at the "Mando & Grogu" tier), that will cover the $38/month. 4. How can I partner with FOJ to support a child? You can go to the Linktree in our bio, or go to https://www.patreon.com/fangirlingoverjesus to sign up! 5. Where can I learn more about Compassion International? Go to @compassion or https://www.compassion.com/ **This post and partnership is in no way sponsored by Star Wars, Her Universe or Ashley Eckstein, or Compassion International. But it is something that FOJ has carefully considered and would love to invite you, the FOJ family, into with us!

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 204: "Arwen's faith does not wax and wane"
Episode 204 — Arwen Evenstar✨ “The light of the Evenstar does not wax and wane. It is mine to give to whom I will, like my heart." Arwen is such a beautiful, steadfast, and faithful character in #LOTR. Her strength, grace, and love endures and lights a way for Aragorn and others in the Fellowship throughout the films. I love her character because her endurance and faithfulness remind me that Christ’s love for us also endures, even through the terrible suffering of death on a cross...check out more of the Christ-connection in our newest devo!

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 203: "Trilogies upon trilogies in LOTR and Ecclesiastes"
Trilogies upon Trilogies! Season 2 Episode...wait for it...3!!🙌🏻😂 Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Han Solo, Luke, and Leia. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And so many more! We’ve seen the “trope of 3” used many times in storytelling, film TV, and even in our faith, but that’s because it really does hold up in so many scenarios. Let’s take a quick 30,000 ft. view at the role of trilogies and threesomes in #TheLordoftheRings and the book of Ecclesiastes🙏🏻

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 306: "What the heck does the Kenobi trailer have to do w/ Easter?"
“Between darkness and defeat, hope survives.” We know that in the midst of death, illness, war, and terrible circumstances, that hope can still abound. We know this because we know that Jesus is our savior: that He died and ROSE again. Even in the midst of what seems like defeat to us, God can use these circumstances for His good purposes. Praise the Lord!

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 301: "Captain America & the price of freedom"
Welcome to Season 3! We know Captain America has always been willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the cause he believes is right. Well, the price of OUR freedom was Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. And He willingly paid it, because He so loved/loves us. It was worth it to Him. How incredible is it that the greatest story of sacrifice was the one made by our God? There is nothing that we can do to save ourselves...no amount of good deeds or keeping the old law of Moses will work. So as you remember July 4th and the freedom we have here in America, I’d encourage you to also remember the ultimate freedom we have in and because of Christ. ❤️ Love you guys; enjoy your 4th!

🎶What is  love? Baby don’t hurt me!🎶 (Got that in your head now, right?) Let’s talk Loki, Doctor Who, 1 Corinthians, and LOOOOOVE! Love is a foundational part of the gospel, and there are so many ways it comes up in Jesus’ story for us. Jesus showed us the way to love others around us...do you see that in your own life?

Welcome back to #TheFaithfulFan 🙌🏻 It’s taken time and a step back for my own mental health, but I always wanted to come back and continue with season 3 of our under-10 minute devo series. After watching #LordoftheRings again yesterday with my roommate, I just knew I had to do another mini devo about Sam! Hope you enjoy🙏🏻

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 304: "When Hawkeye, and Jesus, step into our mess"
Hawkeye has been one of my favorite Avengers because of his loyal friendship to Natasha. And I love that we begin to see some of that care and loyalty in the @hawkeyeofficial series between him and Kate Bishop too! Here’s a glimpse into one of my favorite moments of the season finale, and why it’s such a powerful reminder to me of who Jesus is and what He did for us🙏🏼

The Faithful Fan, Ep. 305: "What do Star Trek, Avengers, and Jesus have in common?"
Our love, and our lives, are exceptionally short, except when lengthened eternally and strengthened supernaturally by Jesus, by His death, and by His resurrection. The fact is that we didn’t even know that we needed saving. But God knew. And God was willing to sacrifice because of his love for us in Jesus. So what does this have to do with Star Trek and the Avengers? Take a listen to find out 😉
