The Cure for Dieting: All About Intuitive Eating With Stephanie Dodier

The Cure for Dieting: All About Intuitive Eating With Stephanie Dodier

Welcome to Episode 2 of Season 7 of The PCOS Revolution Podcast:<br />
The Cure for Dieting: All About Intuitive Eating With Stephanie Dodier<br />
<br />
What is your personal relationship with food? Is it positive? Is it negative? How might your personal relationship with food be impacting other areas of your life?<br />
This week on PCOS Revolution Podcast, I am having a conversation with Stephanie Dodier. Stephanie is a nutritionist, emotional eating expert, founder of the Beyond the Food Academy and host of Beyond the Food Show. She helps women stop overeating and emotional eating, find food freedom and end food obsession. Today we are discussing how you relate to food.Diets come and go and ultimately they are not successful. Stephanie had her first diet at 12. That mentality and cycle continued until she was 38. <br />
Part of the issue was because of the weight cycling, the yoyo dieting. When Stephanie started in the world of natural health, food was presented as the solution to everything. She struggled with binge eating and disordered eating, becoming totally obsessed with food. She started to explore a new facet of relationship with food. From there she discovered the world of intuitive eating. Since then, she has helped and continues to help people mend their relationship with food, eater better and feel better without dieting. During this episode, Stephanie will share various tips about how to improve your relationship with food. It all starts with shifting to internal cues and listening to what your body is trying to tell you. <br />
<br />
Weight is not a disease – it’s a symptom of something else going on in the body. Anytime there is restriction of food, that will be received by your brain as a threat to your survival. When we impose rules, our brain goes into defense mode.While dieting is common, weight cycling is linked to higher inflammation in the body and weight gain. Diets have a 95 percent failure rate. We aren’t born dieting, we are born an intuitive eater. At a certain place we were led to believe our body wasn’t ideal and were given the tool of dieting. This feeds the fundamental notion that you are broken. We start getting out of our body and start following external cues. Your capacity as an intuitive eater never goes away, you just have to learn how to access it. <br />
<br />
Many women don’t even know there is an option to not be on a diet. To be successful, it’s important to start disconnecting from diet environments. Social media can be harmful as well. You can get inundated with external cues of eating, making it difficult to reconnect. Intuitive eating is a journey that fosters the ability to be in your body. Stephanie incorporates mindfulness in her teachings to help bring oneself back into the body.<br />

Do you know what’s in the products you're using? Have you ever considered how many toxins linger in your everyday household items? Over 85,000 chemicals have been introduced into American commerce since World War II and less than one percent have been studied for safety. <br />
These products show up in our homes every day. <br />
During this episode we’ll be chatting about toxins and their impact, for everyone and specifically for those with PCOS. <br />
<br />
This week on PCOS Revolution Podcast, I am having a conversation with Sophia Ruan Gushee. Sophia is a sought-after expert for panels, podcasts, radio shows and other mediums. A Journey Back from Missing Periods & Hashimoto’s

A Journey Back from Missing Periods & Hashimoto’s

Welcome to Episode 1 of Season 6 of The PCOS Revolution Podcast:
A Journey Back from Missing Periods & Hashimoto's

Hello again and welcome back to our new season! I hope you've been enjoying some sunshine and are ready to kick off an amazing Season 6 with me.Ever felt unheard at the doctor’s office? You’re not alone.
Often times, doctors allot 10-15 minutes to diagnose each patient. And we all know that this is not sufficient. Which is why it's very important to learn how to navigate the conventional healthcare system to receive the care that you want and deserve.

This week on PCOS Revolution Podcast, I am joined by Adrienne Nolan-Smith, holistic health speaker and wellness expert. In her personal and professional experience, Adrienne has seen how integrative health and wellness are key to preventing and reversing disease. When she was 11, Adrienne was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Her conventional doctor prescribed antibiotics, but they didn’t work and her mother was then told there were no other options.
Two years and multiple integrative therapies later, Adrienne was Lyme-free. Over the years, other health issues came up and each time it became clear that conventional doctors had tools to treat her symptoms, but they never got to the root of the problems, nor did they really try to cure them.
About Our Guest: Adrienne received her BA from Johns Hopkins University, her MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University, and is a board-certified patient advocate (BCPA). She lives in New York City, where she was born and raised.
Adrienne gets WellBe with acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and eating (mostly!) clean, real food. This episode is all about Dr. Adrienne’s journey from illness to wellness.
She shares some powerful messages one of which is to keep trying, but don’t beat yourself up. Listen and get some insights as you take your journey to wellness.

Episode Spotlights:
Meet Adrienne Nolan-Smith as a lyme disease and amenorrhea patient (2:04)
Back then, nobody really advised that it wasn't okay to take antibiotics all the time (9:53)
Adrienne's Journey to Healing: Chinese Herbs, Supplements, Food Restrictions and More! (12:28)
Beating Chronic Lyme Disease (17:58)
Women with PCOS are prone to autoimmune diseases. Every woman with PCOS should have a thyroid, a full thyroid panel. (21:41)
The Thyroid Gland, Naturopathic vs. Conventional Treatment (23:48)
Theory on the Connection of Placenta and Autoimmune Diseases (26:33)
If something is not working, keep going and find the solution somewhere. Don’t give up. (31:56)
Every single organ in your body hears what you're saying to yourself in your head. (34:30)

8 Simple Ways to Conquer Your Cravings

8 Simple Ways to Conquer Your Cravings

Welcome to Episode 8 of Season 5 of The PCOS Revolution Podcast: 8 Simple Ways to Conquer Your Cravings

Hello and welcome back…I hope you’re having a fabulous start to your summer and wanted to let you know that we have reached the final episode of season 5!
I’ll be taking a little break for some summertime R&R with my kids and hubby but I didn’t want to leave you hanging without talking about one of my biggest issues when it comes to PCOS...cravings!

This week, I will be sharing some insights and strategies that I think you are going to find very helpful. The better we understand our cravings, the more equipped we are to deal with them without feeling guilty or deprived.

You’ll discover why cravings aren’t really your fault, and what may be causing them.
Do you ever notice how some foods make you crave more food? This is how processed food is designed – to keep us wanting more. This ties into the topic of portion control too – processed food can be addicting.
Foods that are addictive can cause us to crave them. Think about when you’re stressed – what do you crave? Do you crave the same thing when you’re bored or hungry? Think about the different cravings you may have and how you can add in healthier options.
Sometimes it’s a matter of not skipping meals, which makes it difficult to make healthy food choices.

As part of this episode, I share my 8 favorite ideas for conquering cravings.
So join me today as we discuss the 8 simple ways that I use to deal with those nasty cravings and don’t worry…I’ll be back to kick off an amazing season 6 in mid-August with some very special guests that I think you’re really going to love.

Ok so let’s jump in…
What have you noticed that triggers cravings for you? What do you usually crave the most in those instances?
Let us know on Instagram and have a fantastic summer!

Beyond Birth Control: Emilee’s Story

Beyond Birth Control: Emilee’s Story

Welcome to Episode 5 of Season 5 of the The PCOS Revolution Podcast: Beyond Birth Control: Emilee's Story<br />
<br />
When Emilee was a teenager, she was given one option to treat her severely irregular cycles: birth control pills. <br />
Even though her mother and sister both were diagnosed with PCOS, she found it extremely hard to get clear answers on other options that could naturally support her PCOS symptoms. <br />
In this episode, Emilee shares how she went from having only 2 periods each year to having a 35-day cycle and ultimately achieving pregnancy naturally (after experiencing a pregnancy loss with fertility medications) using the strategies taught in The PCOS Revolution 90-Day Reset.<br />
<br />
"About a year ago I remember being so lost on my PCOS journey. I wanted so badly to find a way to conceive naturally, it’s always been a huge goal of mine. But without a regular cycle (period maybe twice a year) it seemed so far out of reach. Last summer I stumbled upon the PCOS Revolution podcast and immediately knew I needed to reach out to Dr. Duro for help. For years I had been trying to Google all of my answers and I was getting all sorts of suggestions. It felt so good to finally have someone “sit down” with me and go over my Dutch test and really see what was going on. But even after all of that I really couldn’t wrap my head around the idea that I could ever actually become pregnant. I had tried Clomid before, worked with fertility clinics all over the place, could this really work for me?I still cannot believe it.. here we are, 6 months into Blossoms, my vitamins and change in diet and we are 7 weeks pregnant."<br />
<br />
Today you'll learn:<br />
-Which herbs, supplements and testing were crucial in helping with finally syncing Emilee's cycle<br />
-How to distinguish a long cycle vs pregnancy according to BBT charting<br />
-The power of support to overcome the challenges of PCOS<br />

Easing Stress & Anxiety With Mindfulness

Easing Stress & Anxiety With Mindfulness

Welcome to Episode 1 of Season 5 of the The PCOS Revolution podcast:

Easing Stress & Anxiety With Mindfulness

Hi everyone and welcome back to the first episode of Season 5 today! I’ve invited two very special guests on our show today to speak about how you can take control of your stress using a few simple techniques.

Mindfulness and hypnosis have been successfully used to help reduce anxiety when faced with infertility, PCOS and endometriosis. I wanted to give you a few tips since this is something we ask our patients at Florida Complete Wellness to try both during their acupuncture treatments and at home when preparing for an upcoming medicated cycle or just trying to get their stress levels under control.

Some of you might know Sara Clark who’s a guest we’ve had on my podcast twice already and along with hosting her own podcast Get Pregnant Naturally, She is the author of Fabulously Fertile – Supercharge your Fertility Naturally, The Fabulously Fertile Cookbook and Fertility Preparation Program. She is also the founder of her Signature Fertility Coaching Program, which includes functional lab testing and supports couples to make diet and lifestyle changes that dramatically improve the chances of a healthy pregnancy and baby!

Amira Posner is a Professional Therapist who developed and now facilitates the Mind-Body Fertility Group and Fab Fertile Mindfulness Fertility Series.
Now just a warning if you’re listening to this podcast in your car: Amira walks us through a special guided hypnosis session which you don’t want to do while driving or operating heavy machinery!
I would suggest placing the podcast on hold towards the end and pressing play when you’re in a quiet spot you can really sink into for the next few minutes.

So I really hope this episode leaves you more centered and grounded and if you’d like to explore Sarah and Amira’s Mindfulness Fertility Series, I would encourage you to connect with them in the links I’ve provided above.

Today’s episode comes straight out of my new PCOS Revolution 90-day Reset program, and I thought I’d give you a glimpse into one of my favorite lessons that we discuss in Week 6 of the program.<br />
Now I have to take a moment to brag a little about my new students and how proud I am of all of their progress and enthusiasm so far! <br />
<br />
I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to be able to work with women with PCOS from all over the world and also be able to see some of you in our office at Florida Complete Wellness in Fort Lauderdale, FL and within the new 90-Day Reset that are listening to this podcast each and every week!<br />
<br />
So I hope you find a little more clarity in taking charge of your PCOS symptoms by addressing one of the most important and difficult aspects of it…your glucose and insulin imbalances.<br />
We're going to talk about my favorite top 5 methods of balancing your blood sugar and insulin naturally and hopefully deepen your understanding of why 50% of women diagnosed with PCOS will also become diabetic by age 40 if our blood sugar is not addressed. <br />
<br />
This episode is so very important so make sure you take some time to jot down some notes to gain insight into the steps you can take today to started.<br />

Behind the Scenes of Our Top 3 Episodes of 2018

Behind the Scenes of Our Top 3 Episodes of 2018

Hello and welcome back to season 4 episode 2 of the PCOS Revolution podcast!

I’m so glad to get back to our weekly schedule now that the holiday madness has calmed down a bit so if you’re subscribed to our podcast you’ll see a new episode now every Tuesday morning in your podcast feed.

As get into January, I thought it might be time for some reflection on some our past episodes. Now if you haven’t had a chance to listen to them yet, not to worry…today I’ve put together a special list after polling our team for their most favorite episodes and I’ve included them here in our show notes for you to listen to at your convenience...so today’s episode is short and sweet.

But before we begin I just want to let you in on something that I’ve been secretly working on for several years now and it’s finally time to let you know.

It’s probably no surprise to you treating PCOS at the root takes time and effort. Even when working with our acupuncture patients one-on-one, there just isn’t enough time to really sit down every week and make sure we’re on the right track with diet, supplements, herbs and self care, not mention discussing all that’s involved with hormone testing and BBT or temperature charting. Now I’ve been searching for a way to fill in this gap and help as many women with PCOS as I can, so I developed The PCOS Revolution Academy which is a 100% completely online program that goes deeper into PCOS than any program I’ve seen.

I want to invite you to become a founding member at www.thepcosrevolution.com where I will be holding your hand every step of the way, month after month helping you get your PCOS symptoms under control once and for all.

Each month we’re going to cover different topics through our live Q& A sessions inside of our private community to discuss issues like:

-Improving your fertility and regulating your cycle naturally using the powerful combination of the right supplements and time-tested Chinese herbal medicine strategies along with specific acupressure points

-The perfect strategies for getting rid of fatigue and upping your libido along with learning precisely the right amount of portions and how to eliminate cravings at their source

-Getting your exercise and meal planning  in place so that you could incorporate it easily into your daily routine?

And most importantly feeling confident that for the rest of your life (even during pregnancy and beyond), you had a plan that you could rely on!

I’m so looking forward to getting to know you and I want to make it easy for you to join so here is a special savings for you as one of my listeners…just use the code PODCAST to receive 20% off your first month! Once again, go to www.thepcosrevolution.com and sign up now today to get the special founding member rate as a listener of my podcast. I can’t wait to get started with you!

Ok so let’s get back to the show!
