Opi & the Bear

We wanted to put something out so everyone knew who we picked for the NFL draft contest! You beat our combined picks, you win 25 bucks fresh out of Bear's pocket! This starts out pretty quiet as it's Bear and Opi just chatting and then AJ comes in straight from the links to join in about 1/3rd of the way through. We have some fun trying to figure out who the heck a couple of AJs picks were, because he didn't know either!

It's been a bit, so we spent time just shooting the shit and having fun with it. Ryan has a quick announcement about his future with the podcast and then we jump into a fun FBFL night that included Bear drinking with an 80 year old woman named Connie, that he kept calling Deb. We then move to chat about all things sports and towards the end, the boys got giggly as the 10mg gummy started hitting Bear HARD.

It's the offseason…what do YOU WANT FROM US?!?! Yeah, we could only do so much but we always have some lively fun talks. This week, during Ryan's Love section, we get into who is going to be making the playoffs in the hockey and basketball league and how a couple people can weasel their way in. During the Love section, Bear tells you what NFL players NOT to draft in 2024!! You've been warned! We talk MLB, NFL, and then finish with some games. We get a little goofy later in it, but it was all in terrible taste like always.

We spend a lot of this trying to play a little catch up from the lost weeks of technical issues, but we also finalize a lot of things like some of the money winners from leagues other than the FBFL, the predictions, and the end of an era where Grimbo rides off into the night on his White Shetland Pony. You can tell these guys haven't gotten together in a while as the giggling was all over the place. If nothing else, go to the end and listen to the sad song Bear put together for Grim's send off. We extend this a little longer by talking about the Kelce bump and the fact that Grim doesn't like drunk people…OK, it wasn't quite that way, but we have a lively discussion about the celebration!

We got no produca, so we got no love this week as Bear really just didn't want to look anything up, so we go straight into some baseball free agents and have fun with that. We do, however, get a surprise guest with the founder of Grinder, Marcus Laethum coming on site to hang with us. We do have a weird transition early on due to some speak that shall not be played on the air, listen for that as it ended up being a funny transition. We do our Stupid Bowl stuff and then really start losing control at the end.

Holy CRAP do the boys have some energy this week. Grim & Bear yell at each other. Ryan & AJ can't shut the F up, Opi shows his frustration, it's like the old days of podcasting again and is fun to listen to! Ryan's Love section gets incredibly weird a couple times as we go off into some really disturbing tangents. At the end, the guys really have a lot of fun breaking down the upcoming games and, though most don't care about our picks, the discussions are a good time and fun to listen to, and go off the rails a couple times yet again.

We start out with the normal intro and then get into some family chat about how Grandpa Behrens is doing, and then we intro a new Opi & the Bear member Lauren Melissa Behrens who was born just before the New Year. We spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out players who can replace those sitting in week 18 and moves the playoff teams can make. If you like Grimbo, you'll love this one because he has an echo, or as the pro's call it, he has a little reverb. This makes him tough to understand most the time but he always sounds like he has a dick in the mouth anyway, so you may not notice. We go VERY deep into the playoff matchups and give our thoughts on possible changes teams can make to solidify their team for the week. Bear has a database that has 30 years of stats in it and loves to bust it out to give some history on the two teams also and that's fun to listen to. It's a little lengthy so if you want to skip the Dave Behrens part…well…go to hell, but it's from the 2 minute mark to about the 16:50 mark.

For those in the new Rotisserie, not chicken, football league, Bear does a Fantrax 101 class to help you guys understand how to use the software to your advantage. Then we have a spirited discussion surprising things about the first week of the season. Followed up by grades and finally the normal fun predictions that we fail at every week. The post draft blues was the theme for Bear, but the rest of the guys were having fun brow beating him for his poor draft. But, we beat up a few teams in this one and give a lot of props. Grimbo joins us again and we're having a heck of a fun time with him joining us this whole time. We also drop in our week 1 predictions to get you all prepared for your fantasy week!

Worked fine a week ago, now it's nothing but echo and it's becoming FRUSTRATING! Plus, this one stopped recording about half way through it……so we finish without the real talent, Ryan and AJ. Grimbo came back to help us out for this whole thing though making it worthwhile to listen to. We talk a little baseball, but spend most of our time looking at the Bud protection. We draft an ESPN team with Grimbo's assistance. Oh, and AJ is a real crabby asshole in this one because he lost in golf to Bear.

This week we bring in podcast buddy Grimbo to run down a few dates coming up including the various different drafts we are partaking in, and a couple golf outings. After that we do have to discuss the glaring opposites that is south side and north side baseball. Then, we get into what we're all waiting for! PREDICTIONS! We predict who the keepers for 2023 are in the Miller league, for non-FBFLers, we spend a lot of time talking player value and what round a player should go. Then we do a few NFL predictions and call it a night! This one was very lively and a lot of fun!

It's fixed!! Well, mostly. The boys move the show to Bear's house with the better internet and the sound is fixed. Until about 10 minutes in and Mediacom just goes out for no reason! They just can't win!! LOL!! We kept recording during that time and Bear kept some of those in because some of the shit they talked was funny. That being said, they get it back online and get good production value this time around. They talk quite a bit about the MLB, a little about some up and coming fantasy football items, and they finish off with some FBFL news. We're getting close to everyone's favorite season!!

We spend all night watching and talking about the MLB Home Run Derby, which was a lot of fun again this year. We did have quite a bit of technical difficulty thanks to T-Mobile's new wireless service at the Produca's house. We do have some weird noise in the background that sounds like someone is playing the tambourine, we apologize for that, changes are underway to fix that. It takes about 15 minutes before we get a little more excitement on this one so bear with us for a short while.

This one is short! Mainly because we are missing our main mouth! If you're looking for a mostly Opi-less podcast…this one is for you! If Opi is your guy, you may want to pass on this one! Our talent was in Mexico trying to retrieve his wife or something and calls in late into the podcast. On top of that, the boys really mess around with Opi as he's trying to get into the meeting, which was a blast for us. In the meantime, the guys just babble incessantly about anything that comes to their heads. We do chat a little about the NBA and NHL championships and also talk about the Cubs vs Cardinals London series, but mostly, we just chatter and it was fun!

We spend quite a bit of time watching, listening to, and criticizing AJ eating his wings and fries lunch while we also chat about Liam Hendricks comeback from cancer. Then we chat a little NBA and a little NHL. Then we fire up some strong decisioning on who should sell and who should buy in the MLB. Then we finish with a quick-fire on what 2024 NFL free agent will have the strongest fantasy impact in 2023.

Offseason screw around time! We just chatter and chatter. The boys talk about the NBA & NHL playoffs, the NFL draft and then Bear rounds it out with just some random questions. The guys come up with a fabulous new invention and we're calling it "The TitBit", use your imagination if you want or listen for the explanation of that one. The ending gets pretty giggly with the questions, hope everyone enjoys!

We had a LOT of fun with this one. We brought in Rob Barber and Greg the great Ventris and just sat around the table talking smack about the draft as it happened. AJ spent a lot of time just muttering odd sentences while the Produca gave a good review of many of the draftee's wardrobes. We talk about how Kiper gets paid BANK and got 1 pick right! If you want to play the drinking game of "Drink when Rob talks about how hot a woman is" OR you can play do a shot when AJ says "Will Levis is going here", this is the one for you! 

The Produca gets another new "Show Me Some Love Song", this one made the boys laugh out loud! We give a quick rundown of Bears first Championship since 1998. Opi & Bear then get into a heated discussion about the O'Neal Cruz slide, it was like listening to 2 old guys yelling "get off my lawn" at each other. As we do the MLB predictions it becomes very apparent that the Produca hammered a whole KickServe drink!  

The Produca gets a new "Show Me Some Love Song", to Opi's dismay! Ryan goes in depth about our playoffs for the FBBL and Owen's Hockey League. Then we move into baseball and chat about the opening day and the thriller that was the WBC. We finish baseball up talking both fantasy baseball and Rotisserie. Then the boys talk NCAA and become coaches of the final 4 teams. Each guy picked a team and are going to tell you how they would coach the game to try to get the win.

Let's try this again. The first time we put this out there, we had some serious sound issues but Bear went to work and fixed that stuff up! This is titled after an odd statement made during the podcast, that's how silly this one got at times. Our Assistant to the Produca couldn't keep his bowels from releasing a nauseous gas that attempted to destroy everyone. We also did talk about where free agent RBs will go, Jalen Carter, baseball's pitch clock and the shift.

FBFL is done so what is next, a little game called the Super Bowl. We talk a little about that and have fun with the discussion. We actually talk a little NBA and the craze that was the trade deadline. Bear defines what a buyout is and why it happens. We go around the horn and discuss what each member would do as the Bears GM with that first pick. Bear has a new game for the guys as we decide where some of the free agents are going to go. And lastly, we go over how the full season of predictions went. Also, forgive the Produca, he gets a little punch drunk at the end for some reason.

A favorite time of the year for the guys! Making predictions about YOUR teams! We spend time in all your heads, hope it didn't hurt too much! We have a very deep discussion on who we think each team in the Miller League will protect. For the non-FBFLers, we spend a lot of time talking what round we think certain players are worth in the draft. We also talk Super Bowl predictions along with some possible parlay's, if you're into that sort of thing.

A favorite time of the year for the guys! Making predictions about YOUR teams! We spend time in all your heads, hope it didn't hurt too much! We have a very deep discussion on who we think each team in the Bud League will protect. For the non-FBFLers, we do talk about players for next year including possible changes at QB that can affect the player so lots of good football talk! All wrong, but a lot of fun! We then finish up with predicting the next round of the NFL playoffs and who is going to the Super Bowl. We also start our every other week podcasting now so don't get too upset when you don't hear from us next week.

It's year-end wrap up time so it's a little long. We interview with the 2022-2023 FBFL Champion, the Munster McGibblets, who also happens to be our Produca. We go over all the other FBFL and public betting pools for 2022 and we bring in a couple guests just for the NFL playoff picks. We also reveal the money makers from the 2022 Opi NCAA Bowl Game 43 Games and BCS Championship Giveaway for the Cure for Rabies. Bear created some soundbites for We cover a LOT of ground this week as we end your FBFL season.

It's a long one but that's because we spend the first 45 minutes or so talking about Damar Hamlin and have some great stories and thoughts as to the NFL, Skip Bayless, Dan Orlovsky and other items about the on-field near tragedy that happened. After that we pound on the FBFL championship between the Produca and podcast buddy Joker! The boys analyze, tinker, argue, discuss, and come to only one conclusion!! One of those teams will be a champion after the 3:30 games end!

That's right, AJ can't take the heat and got out of the kitchen after his playoff loss this week. The guys make sure he is aware of his mistake if he listens to this one. The other guys tear apart the playoff games coming up as the FBFL is in the semi-finals for the season. That’s right, we go 18 weeks in this league! We also have a brief conversation on soccer star "Hulk" and try to figure out if we should criticize him or envy him. Plus, as always, we update you on the Opi Contest. Finally, Bear pulls out the old FBFL database and has some fantastic final 4 stats

Shockingly…Bear is ill, so he's on but not in-house and due to his coughing, Opi and the gang do most of the talking so this one is probably much more enjoyable for everyone! We brief on the current MLB spending but save the good talk for after the NFL season. Talk about last week's first round playoff action in the FBFL and then get into our predictions and discuss what to do with the Jalen Hurts situation. Most of all, Merry Christmas to both of our listeners!! Y'all are Ho Ho Ho's!

Playoffs?!?! You want to talk about Playoffs?!?! Playoffs?!?! Yes...yes we do and we go in DEEP. Lots of good discussion on who has the upper hand and best matchups. Couple questions and thoughts come up as to what teams can or even should do to their lineups. Bear pounds out some interesting stats on each game and the boys have a good time talking football playoffs.

Boys supply a fun week 13 recap including our lead in to the holiday season with some good old fashioned Christmas joy. The Produca and his assistant have an interesting dick conversation. Bear gives Opi a tall standing soap box on the Deion Sanders speech to go with NIL and the free agent list they are calling a transfer portal. Getting a little better with the new software we're able to avoid a lot of talk over and fade outs that occurred from the old software. That's the good news, the bad news, it takes a lot longer to edit because of how it rolls out but the sound quality should be worth it. We have an in-house guest again and have a lot of fun there along with learning the definitions of cooter and cootie. Also noticed the new app did some cutting out on Bear's Blonder of Wonder so you guys will enjoy the shortened version a lot more I'm assuming! Bear tells a fun story about our buddy Rob of the Vegas Zombies trying to defy the laws of physics.
