During the blackout dates employees cannot take those days as the companies need all employees working during this time. Jenna and Natasha cover the Employment Law from Texas made significant changes effective September 2021 around sexual harassment. Under the new law, the statute of limitations for filing a charge of sexual harassment is increased from 180 days to 300 days from the date of alleged harassment. The expanded limitations period only applies to sexual harassment claims based on conduct that takes place after September 1, 2021. Under the new Section 21.141 of the Texas Labor Code, the sexual harassment protections apply to employers that have one or more employees. With the expanded definition of “employer,” virtually all Texas workplaces are covered by the sexual harassment laws. Employers can no longer disqualify job applicants with criminal records without first considering their qualifications. Colorado also signed into law"Gender Identity Expression Anti-Discrimination Act." The Act updates Colorado’s nondiscrimination provisions applicable to individuals seeking protection on the basis of “sexual orientation,” including by adding the terms “gender expression” and “gender identity” to 48 areas of state law (e.g., employment, housing, public accommodation) that prohibit discrimination against members of a protected class.
