Episode 22: Giving a voice to Suicide

Episode 22: Giving a voice to Suicide

This episode is devoted to September's National Suicide Prevention/Awareness Month. In this episode Courtnee will be having a raw and vulnerable conversation with her long time friend Raymeesha. Raymeesha is a military veteran, widow, wife, and mother of 6. This episode is personally to both of us in different ways but we are advocates in giving this topic a voice when so many want to silence the topic.

This episode will be a discussion about suicide and the aftermath of suicide. We understand that this is a sensitive subject and could potentially be emotionally triggering. This discussion is also an important topic that affects thousands of lives yearly in the United States and millions of lives globally.
In this episode, Courtnee talks to Raymeesha about the suicide of her late husband in 2013. She is honest and open about the events leading up to the loss of her husband and the emotional roller coaster their family experienced on that day and years following. Raymessha talks about the wide array of emotions she experienced over the last 9 years, how she and her family health with grief and the continued healing journey they walk daily.
Raymeesha shares why she has decided to share her families story with others and gives advice to anyone who will or has recently lost someone to suicide. Raymessha's story is her story, it's not not a guide for others, it's a story of grief and resilience that we hope others can find hope in.
Suicide is a topic that people are reluctant if not unwilling to talk about in our society. If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide or experiencing mental health related distress there is help available. Call or text 988 to be connected with a trained crisis counselor. 988 is confidential, free and available 24/7/365.

Episode 19: Surviving Sexual Assault with Special Guest Hali Picciano

Episode 19: Surviving Sexual Assault with Special Guest Hali Picciano

This episode is devoted the April's Sexual Assault Awareness Month where we will be talking with our special guest Hali Picciano. Hali is a retired Army Officer, advocate and survivor of sexual assault and domestic violence, a mom of two beautiful daughters and a great friend.

This episode will be a discussion about sexual assault and we understand this is a sensitive subject and could be emotionally triggering for some. We believe this is an important topic to discuss but we understand if you choose not listen further.

In this episode we will talk to Hali about her experiences both as a survivor and an advocate for sexual assault and how she uses her story to empower others to not feel alone. Hali shares her struggles with being a survivor, being a full-time Soldier and momma and how she keeps on surviving.

Hali explains why she chooses to share her story with others, how her experiences have changed her, the impact on all those connected to her and gives advice to anyone struggling with a past incident or current incident.

Hali's openness and vulnerability in sharing her story to help others is deeply moving.

The prevention and education of sexual assault is something all three of us are very much invested in and conversations like this bring awareness to a topic that needs to be talked about because if we can help one person, prevent one incident or give one person the courage to come forward we did our job.

If you or someone you know need assistance or someone to talk to the National Sexual Assault Hotline is 1-800-656-4673 or go to the www.rainn.org to chat with someone 24/7.

Episode 18: Self-discovery

Episode 18: Self-discovery

In this episode we are talking about self-discovery. We have previously shared a little about our journeys but we want to help you learn about your own self-discovery. Courtnee has created a self-discovery mentorship and FB group to help women on their self-discovery journey and shares these six questions for you to ask yourself to determine if you have lost yourself on your journey: 1) How do I currently feel about your life and what is it missing?
2) What are 2-3 negative emotions that I carry and need to let go of?
3) When I look in the mirror, what are 5 things I love about myself?
4) What do I love doing? (That doesn’t involve your partner or children)
5) How do I practice self-care?
6) What are my goals and what am I doing daily to work towards them? We are also looking to collaborate with similar podcasts or bring in guests to talk about life and business. If that’s you or you know someone reach out to us on FB or IG @fearlesslyinspiredsociety.

Episode 11: The Truth Behind the Stories We Share

Episode 11: The Truth Behind the Stories We Share

In this episode, we talk about our experiences/stories, how we remember them, and how we tell them to others.  Our memories of our experiences are often unreliable and can be easily influenced by others and by what's going on in our life at the time.  There are people who use their stories for a personal benefit and there are those that don't want to share their stories because they don't like the attention.  Whatever your story is, only you know the truth behind to your experiences. You determine how they are told and to whom. You can either unlock those real stories in order to inspire others or you can compartmentalize them and take them to the grave.

Episode 7: Bruised but not Broken

In this episode, we are going to share personal stories about situations in our personal lives that led us to understand that we were bruised but not broken.  There have been times in both of our lives where we have felt broken beyond repair. As we share our own experiences we hope that you too will realize that whether it is a relationship or an experience that makes you feel broken, remind yourself that you are only bruised.
