Herman Mihalich - Dad's Hat

Laura Fields - Delaware Valley Fields Foundation
In the episode we sit down with Laura Fields of the Delaware Valley Fields Foundation.  Laura shares her passion for agriculture which began with her mother who founded Flint Hill Farm in Coopersburg, PA.  We delve into the important role that the Penn State Agricultural Extension plays in the development of Rosen Rye.  Laura talks about her mission with the Seed Spark campaign and how she is introducing all facets of agriculture and farming to the craft distilling industry.  Stoll and Wolf Distillery in Lititz, PA plays an important role in the reintroduction of Rosen Rye to the Spirit community.  We discuss the history of Prohibition and its impact on Pennsylvania distilleries like Michter's.  We review the American Whiskey Convention and look forward to the 5th Annual in 2020,  You can find them on Facebook @AmericanWhiskeyConvention.   If you're in New Hope, PA for the Halloween Season be sure to make Specters and Spirits an annual tradition.   Cheers!

American Whiskey Convention
This episode features highlights and observations from the American Whiskey Convention help in Philadelphia, PA at the Penn Museum of Archeology and Anthropology.  The evening was hosted by the Delaware Valley Fields Foundation.  Learn more about Seed Spark and the Rosen Rye Project. There was definitely something for everyone to sample and enjoy with more then 250 whiskeys and spirits from over 50 American Distilleries.  Fermented Adventure The Podcast made some new friends and got to see some old ones too.  A highlight was getting to spend time speaking with Greg Metze and Laura Fields.  It was an evening to remember and we are looking forward to next year.  Cheers.

Joan Verratti shares her passion  “dalle mie mani al tuo cuore,” which translates into English as, “from my hands to your heart.” at Pollyodd.  They are located at 1908 East Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148.  What started out as a hobby in her home kitchen in South Philadelphia has become an incredible labor of love and a tribute to her son.  Joan shares the humble beginnings of creating the original recipe for Cello, to the many water base and cream base flavors that come from her small batch distillery.  Joan Verratti holds the distinction of being the  first Non-PLCB retail Liquor store in the state to go along with her being the first female owned Distillery in the country.  Cheers!
