BOTLD - Andrew Auwerda and Drew Perry

BOTLD - Andrew Auwerda and Drew Perry

This episode features Andrew Auwerda and Drew Perry of BOTLD.

The idea for BOTLD came during covid. Andrew was running Philadelphia Distilling. The PLCB was closed for 12 weeks during the lockdown. That was their number one purchaser of Bluecoat American Dry Gin. They quickly pivoted to direct to consumer sales. This practice became a huge success. Today BOTLD's mission is to bring a more adventurous, wider, deeper selection of spirits to consumers, as well as, bars and restaurants. They curate brands and spirits that can't get into the PLCB. BOTLD partners with those brands and brings them to the shelves in Pennsylvania. Distinction... Discovery... Delivery

Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery - Christian Ryan

Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery - Christian Ryan

This episode feature Christian Ryan of Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery.

This ten year journey began as a hobby for the founders of Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery. They are lovers of bourbon and whiskey. The idea of opening a winery didn't appeal to them as much as starting a distillery. The timing fell in line with New York's changing its farm distillery laws. Christian came on board three years ago as the head distiller. He has had his hand in brewing since 2007, so the transition to distilling was a comfortable move. They have recently expanded and moved into a new space to give their guests an even more fabulous experience. The added room provided for much needed production and barrel storage area. Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery offers consumers a chance to experience the flavor and character of the Adirondacks.

Sono 1420 America's Maritime Distillery - Ted Dumbauld

This episode features Ted Dumbauld of Sono 1420 America's Maritime Distillery.

Ted's path to distilling originated from the cannabis industry. He had the idea to build a brand at the intersection of cannabis and alcohol. The innovation that he's brought to the spirits world is a hemp based product. Ted took hemp seed and added it to the mash bill. Sono 1420 was born in 2020. Their location on the Long Island Sound affords them access to the terroir and maritime environment. Their "Threesome" ready to mix cocktail is another amazing creation that sets this craft distillery apart. What is coming out of Norwalk, Conn is so unique and different. We anticipate more wonderful expressions from this young and bold distillery.

Chris began tending bar in 2003. At the time he was going to school for molecular biology. This education has transferred into his love oft cocktails. Once behind the bar everything clicked for him. In those early years he got deep into mixology. His knowledge began to grow exponentially regarding cocktail design. The next 15 years were consumed running bar programs in California. In 2013 the idea of providing access to mixology and cocktail information was conceved. This led to a YouTube Channel and a Facebook Group. The next endeavor was to create and produce high end barware. Casa W Distillery - Wally Caraballo

This episode feature Wally Caraballo of Casa W Distillery.

Wally's entrepreneurial roots go back to his father's bar in Puerto Rico where he was making and selling his own sangria. Upon arriving to the United States he set his sights on creating and sharing the traditional Pitorro that he grew up on back home. He began the journey as a moonshiner of sorts. He crafted and perfected the Puerto Rican rum in his basement. His family and friends clamored for this wonderful elixir. Now he's changing the game with his own expression of what he believes Pitorro should be. To date they have been open for seven months and have become a fixture and destination in the community. Some of their releases sell out so fast and they are working hard to keep up with demand. As Wally says, "Pitorro chose him".

We are so grateful that it did.

Owning and running restaurants and kiosks on the beaches of Puerto Rico is in the blood of Yesenia and Armando. Coming to the United States they wanted to create the same family concept that they knew back home. They began to weigh the pros and cons of a brick and mortar building and a mobile business. They never imagined that one day that would own and operate a food truck. Or, more accurately a food trailer. The recipes are a combination of old family dishes and the focus of putting their own spin on the dietary desires of their customers. It's authentic Puerto Rican cuisine with their own flavors and interpretations.

Keeper's Heart Whiskey - Pip Hanson

Keeper's Heart Whiskey - Pip Hanson

This episode features Pip Hanson of Keeper's Heart Whiskey.

Keeper's Heart was created at an O'Shaughnessy, Irish American family reunion in Minneapolis five years ago. The O'Shaughnessy's came to America during the potato famine. The reunion brought the family together to reminisce and converse over whiskey. The idea to start a distillery sprang to life. This family endeavor would pay homage to the ideals and traditions of their immigrant roots. Today a 30,000 square foot distillery, restaurant and bar has come to fruition. Brian Nation was brought onboard to be the head distiller and blender. Steps were taken to source the finest whisky from their favorite distilleries in Ireland and the United States. The plan is to continue to source their flagships and today they are laying down their own juice which is distilled in copper pot stills. Look for those iterations to please consumers in about two years. Pip is responsible for the bar, cocktail program and training. What you'll find when you visit are three different bars and full kitchen for your enjoyment of this incredible whiskey brand.

Spearhead Whisky - Calum Leslie

This episode features Calum Leslie of Spearhead Whisky.

Spearhead Whisky is a 100% single grain malted barley which is distilled in a coffey style still. Finished in ex-bourbon barrels and then the liquid spends time in infrared toasted virgin American oak barrels. This creates a spirit that is sweet, light and super approachable for a Scotch whisky. Calum came to Loch Lomond distillery in 2019 as head of innovation. His desire was to introduce new consumers in the brand. This whisky is definitely spearheading a movement. They are doing things differently. Creating new fans one at a time. Pick up your own bottle or order it at the bar. Either neat or as a cocktail. Matt Pietrek - The Rum and Cocktail Wonk

This episode features Matt Pietrek The Cocktail Wonk.

It all started about 15 years ago with the love of tiki cocktails. The more that Matt learned the more excited he got. He took his writing experience and turned it into the Cocktail Wonk Blog. For Matt it's the flavor, the run and the exotic fruits that make the tiki cocktails appealing to him. Beach Bum Berry's, Sippin' Safari Book helped all of this to click into place for him. This episode highlights history, rum, tiki and an overall passion for being a Wonk.

Liberty Pole Spirits Grand Opening

Liberty Pole Spirits Grand Opening

This special episode features Jim, Ellen, Rob and Kevin Hough of Liberty Pole Spirits.

On July 15th Liberty Pole Spirits entered a new chapter in the history of their whiskey distillery. Friends, family and new fans joined the celebration and filled their new campus to capacity. It was an amazing experience to be part of the festivities and tour this state of the art distillery. The crowned jewel is the largest rickhouse in all of Pennsylvania. This expansive structure provides so much room now to fill and age barrels.

The tasting room and bottle shop are full of history which is befitting to the distilled spirits that are being produced. It's a comfortable space to sit, relax, sip and enjoy the sights, sounds and the conversations all around. The cocktails are amazing. A perfect balanced and well rounded compliment to the base whiskey being used. We got see the production space from the seating area overlooking the distillery itself.

Episode 31 featured Jim and there you can learn about the history and the humble beginnings of Liberty Pole. This episode provides a glimpse into the excitement of opening day, the experiences leading up to it and some never told stories about the beginning of the distillery.

This is certainly a destination that must be on your bucket list.

Barrow's Intense Ginger - Josh Morton

Barrow's Intense Ginger - Josh Morton

This episode features Josh Morton of Barrow's Intense Ginger.

Josh started making the ginger liqueur in his kitchen for his friends ten years before it became a product that he sold. As he calls it, "A Happy Accident". His inspiration was lemon cello that he enjoyed during his visit to Italy. Josh was disappointed by what he drank when he returned to the United States. A chef friend gave him some tips and tricks on how to make the lemon cello the correct way. With each experimental batch he refined the recipe. Once ginger was added it became clear that he was on to something special. Each time he made it he added more ginger and less lemon. What exists today is a delicious liqueur that is versatile and simply amazing. Don't take our word for it... pick up a bottle today and experience Barrow's Intense Ginger Liqueur for yourself.
