Freedom in Christ - Mississippi

In order to experience full freedom in Christ, we need to relate to others as God relates to us: forgiving and accepted. Recognizing what forgiveness is and what it is not is the first step to being able to relate well to those God has placed around us.

Our emotions are essentially a product of our thoughts. Measuring our emotions against the truth of the scriptures helps us to walk in the certainty of truth and not the fickleness of feelings.

The world we grew up in influenced us to look at life in a particular way and to see that way as “true”. However, if it doesn’t stack up with what God says is true, we need to reject it and bring our beliefs into line with what really is true.

It is simply a choice. You don’t feel your way into good behavior, You believe and behave and your feelings will follow. Faith is finding out what is already true (in God’s Word) and making the CHOICE to believe it; whether it feels true or not. TD looks at 2 Peter 1:3-5

The Gospel is not about become a better version of the old you. It is about recognizing that the old you died with Jesus. You grow, not by trying hard to become someone different. Growth occurs as you recognizing that you already became someone different the moment you received Christ!

In walking free in Christ, we need to learn how to relate well to others. Relating well begins by learning to assume responsibility for our own character and looking for ways to meet the needs of those around us.

We all have mental strongholds which are ways of thinking that do not line up with God’s truth. Our success in continuing to learn to walk in freedom and grow in maturity is dependent on our ability to recognize lies and renew our minds with God’s truth.
