Leadership Blind Spots - Women
How might there be a potential blind spot in our churches of ministry by and to women? In Galatians 2:11-21, Paul records how he had to confront Peter and Barnabas for not acting in line with the gospel in the way they were behaving towards Gentile believers. Paul calls it an 'hypocrisy' (2:13) which has led others astray. It was a blind spot that needed to be exposed.  God forbid we should do likewise. We used this talk to introduce a potential blind spot with help from Rachel Sloan, our part-time Women's Ministry Coordinator, and also a part-time staff member at Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh. She helped us think about ministry by and to women. You can watch this video, along with questions to discuss with your church leadership team, on the FIEC website.

From a Discipline to a Delight
Listen as Linda Allcock encourages all to go deeper in our search for treasure in God’s word. Linda uses Proverbs 2:1-6 to show us four important steps to consider as we read God’s word or seek to hear him speak as we engage with good Bible teaching: Lord, look, turn, and learn. Linda spoke online to 85 ministry wives from across Wales, Scotland, and England. They spent time in small groups discussing what they had heard, sharing their response as well as praying for the situations they are in. Linda’s illustrations were memorable, and she shared warmly her own experience of growth in biblical meditation. God graciously and willingly, by his Holy Spirit, reveals himself and his treasure to us in his word as we discipline ourselves in our walk with him. Please listen, reflect, and pray in response. You will benefit as church leaders or church members. The delight in growing in love for our Saviour will refresh your soul. Banning 'Conversion Therapy' (Webinar)
How should we respond to the Government's proposals to ban 'conversion therapy' in order to lead our churches, defend our freedoms and protect people? One of the challenges churches will be facing when coming out of lockdown is the issue of 'conversion therapy' and the proposals of the Government to ban it, which has the danger of criminalising ordinary gospel ministry in our churches. In God's providence, this webinar has come at a time when the issue has come to the fore with the resignation of Jayne Ozanne and others from the Government LGBTQ advisory group and the Prime Minister's desire to advance a ban on conversion therapy. FIEC National Director John Stevens is joined by Sharon James and Simon Clavert from The Christian Institute to address this challenge and think about how church leaders should respond. Affirming Women in Ministry
Complementarianism is under attack both theologically and culturally. In some circles it is even spoken of as being abusive. As a Fellowship, FIEC is complementarian, meaning that the office of pastor or elder in an FIEC church is only open to suitably qualified men. But how is that compatible with a contemporary culture that sees women flourish in all areas of society? In this podcast, National Director John Stevens attempts to tackle these issues and gives a comprehensive biblical overview with applications and implications for the work and ministry of FIEC churches. He encourages church leaders not to hold gifted women back by preventing them from serving in ministry roles that the Bible does not prohibit. Focusing on what women can do in church ministry also helps us to interpret the passages that have sometimes caused controversy in 1 Corinthians 14 and 1 Timothy 2. Originally recorded for Beeston Free Church in Nottingham, this is a must-listen for church leadership teams and anyone with questions about the role of women in church.
