Filipino Bratwurst

This last episode encapsulates our whole podcast: totally no distractions, the best audio quality, in-sync opinions and cold hard facts. In other words, none of that is true, and we just let loose and talked about our fave books, movies, and music. We also look back and get really cheesy with takeaways and time capsules. We'll miss recording these episodes so much!

Happy Pride! I'm baaack in Germany so we recorded together in the same place *for the first time this season*. We caught up a bit and talked about gender reveal parties, gender roles, the difference between gender and sex, and Leo comes up with examples of gay-washing and bad storytelling lol. Although I'll never tell Leo, it was actually fun to talk in person instead of online and I got so hyped.

Mabuhay & Hallo once again. We recorded this second part of our return (aaaye) in February just before Valentine's Day. Now we're long distance - Leo's in Germany and I'm in the Philippines! Leo just woke up, please tell him to get his shit together. :P

This was definitely the episode I was most excited about! I got veeeeery passionate so I ended up talking like crazy and quoting an old film that debunks the theory that fashion has no substance. Leo gives some straight boy examples of how he implemented his fashion skills during his teeny days and I share some tips on how to be stylish on a budget.

In this episode, Leo steps up his preparation game and came up with the idea of talking about public holidays. We go through the cute list of occasions celebrated in Germany, the Philippines, and America & we find out the many cultural differences in how we celebrate global holidays such as Christmas and New Year's. There are obvious differences such as Christmas being in the middle of two separate seasons (lol), but we also learn about traditions that our countries follow that are quite unique (to say the least).

Finally, this boi actually came to the episode with ideas, yaaaaay!

We all know someone with an innate ability to light up a room with their presence. They just have that extra pep in their step that makes the world wonder in awe. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little. But for real, confidence is something Leo and I both think is an essential part of life. We are both usually confident but there are also times when we falter. 

In this episode, we talk about how we define confidence, what makes us feel confident, people we consider as the definition of the word and Leo even shares a little life hack he's been implementing to feel a little exta confident.

Overall this was one of my favourite episodes to record so far because my co-host came in extra jolly and we actually stayed on topic lol.

You know those moments when you visit a new place and try to navigate your way through it? Were there things that made you go WTF and say “damn bish why y’all do that?”

In this episode, Leo and I talk about all the culture shocks we’ve experienced visiting/living in countries foreign to us. We look at Vietnam, Australia, Germany, the Philippines, Japan, the US and a few more. All the crazy traditions, behaviours, habits and silly little nuances that made us think twice about how they came up with dat sheeee. It gets pretty nasty at some points, just saying. But you’re gonna have to listen to really find out.

Jhan came up to me and said he wanted to do an episode on our strengths and weaknesses, assessed by ourselves. He then went on, clarifying that we won't talk about how strong I am physically, but rather about character traits. Ooooh, this episode got me going! I've been a social media hoe for most of my life so I could finally share all my innermost thoughts about this modern (addictive) phenomenon. 

In this episode, we look back at our earliest memories of social media, we decipher our reasons for posting (Leo's reasons are interesting, I'll just say that lol), and I share how I started with creating content, all the extraness and drama that come with it and why I decided to deactivate my Instagram for two years.

In this episode, we talk about what self-care means to us individually. We get into the nitty-gritty of skincare, getting dressed, and our morning routines. 

There was a time that Leo and I went out partying for Halloween and this boy came from basketball practice, said "okay, I need five minutes" and within four and a half he was ready to go. My vain self was astounded, impressed, and confused. He walks us through what happens in those four and half minutes and trust me, it gets juicy. Well, as juicy as four and half minutes can get...

We also touch on the emotional and mental side of self-care because, in times like these, it's of utmost importance (for me, at least). l finally learn the straight, white boy version of self-care and it's kind of funny how different it is from my own.

In this episode, I share my coming out story while Leo tries not to get cancelled. It was kind of nerve-wracking revisiting these emotional moments so I'm glad Leo was sensitive enough to hold back his dad jokes in between. Nevertheless, it was reassuring to look back at how far I've come after being scared for so long. Little me would be proud *wipes tear*.

We also talk about Leo's first time being exposed to gay people, the difficulties that come with being queer, and the double standards surrounding certain members of the LGBT community. With our (very first) special guest, Clint, we explore the differences between the LGBT culture in the western world and the Philippines. We realize that this topic can be very sensitive so we attempt to keep the conversation light-hearted and insert our mindless banter to cheer up the situation as much as possible.
