In this episode, Ned and Em review West Side Story (2021), a musical remake directed by Steven Spielberg! Ned fondly remembers the original film adaption, even claiming to be a gang member himself (he is not), and Em has no recollection. Oh, how the tables have turned.

Listen as they discuss why long movies like this need intermissions, some of Ned's favorite songs, and how they think this will perform at the Oscars. P.S. We recorded this episode before the Oscars, so we were wrong!

This week, Ned and Em review KIMI (2022). Headphone listeners...beware. This movie review is all over the place when it comes to audio levels because these usually composed co-hosts are not so civil this time. And whenever Ned gets passionate about a topic, he claps to make his point. (Note from Em: Editing this podcast recording of my father is my Joker origin story.) Who knew a movie about a home assistant device would cause so much fighting?!

This week, Ned and Em take a trip to 1925 Montana (or New Zealand) to review the oscar-nominated film The Power of the Dog.

We has a lot of fun trying to dissect this movie and we argued what exactly the name means. But it references the bible, which we know nothing about, so we are probably wrong! If you know what the name actually means, send us a message on Twitter or an email, please!

Who doesn't love con artists in a 1940s carnival? What about a stacked cast of Bradley Cooper, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Cate Blanchett, and more? And even better, all of this is in a movie directed by the great Guillermo del Toro! I think Ned and Em are about to join another fan club...

The day has finally come! This week, Ned and Em review the latest James Bond film, No Time To Die (2021). Ned is a huge fan of James Bond and Em...well...Ned has been asking to watch this since it premiered. Actually, we have been talking about this movie since 2019, but here we are now, six delays in the movie release later. 

Ned gives his thoughts on Daniel Craig as James Bond, compared to previous actors in the same role, and we start thinking about what's next for this iconic character. But don't worry, you don't have to watch every James Bond movie to watch this one. If you know how guns work, you should be good!

This week, Ned and Em review The Last Duel (2021) directed by Ridley Scott. This movie performed poorly at the box office and I'm guessing the pandemic had something to do with it, but Mr. Scott blames kids being on their dang phones. But did the film impress us, the most notable movie review podcast? 

We share some laughs in this episode, despite this being a very dark movie about fighting to the death about assault allegations in the middle ages. And you can hear a special guest, Diane, in the background at times to chime in! Thanks for listening!

In this episode, Ned and Em take on a heavier movie... We watched the 2020 Acadamy Award-Winning film, Promising Young Woman. Warning to the audience, this movie covers some hard topics such as sexual assault and suicide, so keep this in mind before you listen. 

Also, I did edit about 10 whole minutes out in the middle because we were just fighting instead of actually doing this podcast. So if you sense tension and frustration, that's probably it! For our 18th episode, Em and Ned "watched" the latest horror blockbuster, Malignant (2021). And I put watched in quotations because...well listen to find out why.

This week, Em and Ned discuss the Acadamy Award-nominated film News of the World (2020), starring everyone's favorite man in Hollywood, Tom Hanks! Not only does this movie, which takes place post-civil war, make a strategic connection to the current political landscape, but I think it makes a pretty strong argument for replacing all news anchors with Tom Hanks. 

Since this is a pretty acclaimed film, we talk about the good performances, the yee-haw soundtrack, and our thoughts on Westerns as a genre. (The genre should include the 2003 movie Holes and Em must make the argument why every time "western" is mentioned. Sorry not sorry.)

This week, Ned and Em review Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)! Ned chose to watch this movie because it features two of his favorite people; Ryan Reynold and Selma Hayek. 

It was not until after renting it that Em realized this was a sequel and never watched the first one...and this is not the first time that happened either. There are a lot of sequels nowadays, it's hard to keep up! Ned is chaotic and doesn't think you need to watch an original before the sequel. Whose side are you on?

We are coming back from a week off to give you a very exciting episode. Ned has been waiting a long time to see this one....it's A Quiet Place Part II (2020)! We watched the first Quiet Place together and are very glad we started this podcast just in time to review this one. (Also, important to note, Cillian Murphy is not actually our cousin, we just think it's funny to say that we are related to everyone with the last name Murphy. Please humor us.) 

This episode actually contains some very thoughtful commentary about this movie franchise and sequels as a whole. But no matter our rating, this movie will go down in cinematic history as a pandemic film since it premiered in March 2020 but we are only seeing it now.

In this episode we talk about our love for movie dogs (this film features an Australian Kelpie we absolutely adore) and we learn a very valuable podcast lesson.
