Film Lovers Podcast

Join the Film Lovers as they jump into a portal and travel back in time to 2001 in order to watch and discuss Richard Kelly's accidental masterpiece "Donnie Darko." This episode draws out deep feelings as the lovers explore both fear and love (the deepest of human emotions). This second volume of the "Film Lovers Flashback" is so intense, some moms of the PTA may just want to have it banned from school.

The Film Lovers are back this week, and they're reflecting on the year thus far and ranking their top five movies of 2018 (20:55). Before that they discuss Pixar's Incredibles II (10:55); and finish off the episode sharing some love and emotion with one another about film (1:08:30).

[This Episode Contains Spoilers] Once again, Casey is gone, so David and Russ decide to embrace their duality and discuss two movies at once – A24's "Hereditary" and Blumhouse Production's "Upgrade" (19:45). Before that they throw both studios into the cage for an exciting DiscussBattle™ and see which company is doing better (4:45); and, as always, they share some things they love, both of which are NOT movies (1:03:33).

This week the Film Lovers launch a brand new segment, “Film Lovers Flashback.” In this recurring podcast motif the Lovers will look back at classic movies from Hollywood’s past and discuss them with the same passion as they would a new release. For the debut episode they get things “rolling” with “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (17:10); before that they try to objectively discuss who the greatest American director is (7:55); and they close the show spreading mostly love about some recent movies (1:01:17).

[This Episode Contains Spoilers] This week the Film Lovers devote their entire episode to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and race against the clock to review "Avengers: Infinity War" (14:45). Before that they discuss the sad situation at DC Films (3:30); and wrap things up by sharing which MCU movie they love the most (52:15). They also manage to have a fierce debate over the merits of a certain glove's backstory. It's an argument that would make Dr. Strange, Tony Stark, and Star Lord proud!

This week the Film Lovers log in to the Oasis and mine through the pop culture mash-up that is "Ready Player One" (14:33). Before that, they manage to discuss the merits of both Tom Cruise and Jeff Goldblum (6:00); and, as always, they end the show by sharing their love for something cinematic (1:09:10). This episode is the perfect escape from reality!

This week, the Film Lovers return from their unintentional hiatus, and they're full of energy! So much so that they accidentally review "A Wrinkle in Time" for 15 minutes (6:51); they discuss the merits of and the methodology for using Metacritic (20:25); and then they invest a bulk of the episode sharing their Top Three Movie Moments (feat. Honorable Mentions) (26:32). As always they wrap things up by gushing about something they love (1:18:30). It's their tenth (and best) episode, and they promise to never wait this long between episodes.

This week the Film Lovers reflect on 2017, and share their lists for the Top Ten Movies of 2017 (19:10). They feel pride, shame, inadequacy, self-doubt, and above all things, love. Before all that, they "discuss" a very esoteric comparison of two decades (4:20), they pick their front runners for the Oscar for Best Picture (15:10), and end the show sharing something they love (1:13:35).

This week the Film Lovers venture off to a galaxy far far away to discuss their love (and some of their hate) for the latest installment of the Star Wars franchise, "The Last Jedi." It's back-to-back Star Wars for the entire episode, so set your blasters to stun and get ready for a debate that would put the Galactic Senate to shame.
