40: In the Shadows of Doubt: Standing Strong Against Institutional Gaslighting
Prepare to be moved and motivated as we delve into a deeply personal and critical issue in this week's episode. We are two resilient gay mothers sharing our daunting experiences with gaslighting by the Ministry of Children and Families—a reality we've faced while advocating for the mental health support of our neurodivergent children.

This episode isn't just a narrative of struggle; it's a testament to the unshakeable strength required of two mothers who refuse to be silenced, invalidated or punished. 20 - Two Moms and a Beautiful Shit Show of Pride
Life can be A LOT, not just sometimes, but always. Our family brings a lot to the table, and I am sure that you can relate to one, if not several, of the platforms that we speak from.
On today's podcast, we take a moment to be super vulnerable and transparent about recent psychiatric events with our youngest child. We talk about raising neurodivergent children with invisible disabilities in the judgement of the public eye. We talk about how the reactions of onlookers could be the game-changers we need.
Here's a list of just a little of what makes our family pridefully ours:
- Two moms - our family lives within the spectrum of the LGBTQIA+ community
- Adoption - All three kids were adopted from the foster care system.
- Neurodiversity - Amongst all three kids, we work with ADHD, ODD, OCD, Tourettes, Attachment Disorder, Severe Anxiety, Cognitive Processing Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Fetal Alcohol Disorder, Trauma, and likely Intermittent Explosive Disorder. It's a lot.
- A blended family - Tamar has only joined our family in the last 11 months as a second mom to our three girls. Lenaya and the twins both come from different biological families.
- Indigenous Connections - All three girls are indigenous and collectively represent four different bands.
- Christian background - Faith is very important to us as we move through the world as gay moms.
This is just a little of what we navigate on a daily.
I hope you enjoy listening to us share our vulnerable and sometimes controversial truth on our podcast "Two Moms and a Beautiful Shit Show"

15 Clobber Passages and Lies, Lies, Lies!
For many LGBTQ+ individuals, religion and spirituality can be a source of comfort, community, and guidance. However, some religious traditions, including certain interpretations of Christianity, have historically condemned same-sex relationships and gender-nonconforming identities. This has led to the use of "clobber passages," or biblical verses that are often cited to condemn homosexuality and other non-normative expressions of sexuality and gender.
