I had to learn it was okay to be hungry. I had to learn it was okay to be full. I had to learn it was okay to be every space in between. Throughout my years of dieting and disordered eating I feared being hungry. It was instilled in me I had to eat certain foods and certain times, no matter what. I had no trust in my body. No faith in the ability to listen to what my body needed. Ramsey is a woman who has never publicly told her story but is slowly taking action to empower others through sharing some of her life hurdles. Her message is simple, trauma victims live amongst us. We live very normal looking lives. We all either are or know someone, or many, unknowingly know someone who is dealing with hurt and trauma. The term is general as there are so many forms and all to common a symptom of human kind. So we all suffer alone in silence because it’s taboo in American society to talk about it. Or it was until recently. We can’t address what we don’t talk about. Ramsey wants to talk about how trauma has no conditions. It happens to anyone, at anytime and can leave life long internal conflict and scars that will always resurface when left unacknowledged and unworked through. The beauty of her message is that she shares the bitter truth of what she had to acknowledge in order to shed layers of hurt and pain in order to blossom with abundance, self worth and passion. She is not a public speaker on self help or influencer of guidance . She is just a normal woman, who lives a very normal looking life dealing with the struggles surviving trauma. 123 - Kinsey Olson: Living In Sync With Your Body: Hormones, Gut Health, & Infertility.
More about Kinsey: I am a registered nurse, women’s health, hormone and fertility coach, birth and postpartum doula, wife, girl who goes crazy for matcha, chicken mom, cat mom, goat mom, pig mom and dog mom. I wear a lot of hats! My husband and I are midwest homesteaders based in Springfield, MO and thrive in natural holistic living. I haven’t always been all those things, though. The one thing I have always been is wildly passionate about women and helping them as they walk that journey in whatever capacity fits them best. I AM ALL ABOUT G I R L P O W E R. So I guess it was fitting I ended up here. I remember stepping onto my postpartum floor as a new graduate nurse knowing I had made an amazing decision for my future. Little did I know, I would fall in love with hormones, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Even more so, I was unaware of how many women wanted and deserved more from their birth and postpartum experience. They desired freedom, knowledge, support, love, a helping hand, a confident “you can do this.” and to know they had C H O I C E S. From years of experience as a nurse working in postpartum, OB-GYN, holistic health, pediatrics, neonatal ICU, I dug deeper into that knowledge. When we journeyed through our own personal experiences starting a family and I was in the shoes of a patient, I wrote a list of all the things I wish I had asked, things I did not even know to ask, sincere words I wish had been said to me, along with support and resources that would have been helpful to have had. Those experiences shaped me into an empathetic listener, compassionate supporter and firm believer in making decisions that are best for your wants, needs and family without fear or judgement. While I LOVE being a nurse, I started to crave deeper relationships with my patients and their families. I wanted to play a different role in their unique journeys, I wanted to walk with them for more than a twelve hour shift. Most of all, I want to remind mamas how important they are.
