In this Episode I am going to share with you the cycle of yo-yo dieting and the secret to breaking the cycle. What happens with the elusive cycle of the yo-yo diet? The cycle goes like this.... Person doesn't like the way they look or feel and focus to lose weight. They might want to look good for an event, so they have an end in mind. What happens with the yo-yo diet is that when they succeed at their goal, they often slide back into old ways. Causing weight gain again. The simple part of it is that is...as humans we are motivated by pain or pleasure. Pain tends to be the trigger for getting things into motion, because we tend to move farther away from pain. With yo-yo diets the pain is not feeling good, or liking the way the look (most common). That is painful! It will get you going. So their strategy is "pain will get me motivated to lose weight". If pain is the motivator  for making healthy changes... the habitual pattern will tend to revert to gaining weight and feeling awful to trigger any action.
