New Testament Overview #BYOB
Today we take the whirlwind tour through the New Testament. After the announcements, Fr. Tony tells his favorite story in the bible, The Greatest Story Never Told.  Announcements: RRM Parish Meetings - Starting Monday, November 16 through Thursday, December 17, the Diocese of Lansing Realign Resources for Mission Committee will be touring the diocese for a series of local parish meetings in order to explain the rationale behind the process, the methodology of the process, the vision it has for the future of parish life in the diocese and, most importantly, to listen to parishioners as to what they think of the process and how it could, potentially, impact upon their parish positively or negatively. Note: Because of Covid, these are now entirely online. Each meeting will begin at 7pm and will run for a duration of 90 minutes. The meeting will consist of two elements: A presentation on behalf of the Realign Resource for Mission Committee combined with both verbal discussion and written feedback from parishioners on their hopes and fears for the process; what feel needs to be known about their parish; and any specific suggestions they may have for the future of their parish or the future of the diocese. They can also register their questions too. November 30th - RRM at St. Matthew December 2nd - RRM at St. John Vianney Young Adults, 18 & older, are invited to participate in a weekly Zoom call at 8pm on Advent Tuesdays 2020 Come explore through conversation and community what God’s word is saying to you.  NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Behind the Veil #2: Tour of Convent Life (Virtual) – Wonderful opportunity not only for women in discernment of religious life, but for youth groups, families, and others curious to learn about convent life and experience of various religious sisters living it.  Link MESSAGE FROM THE BISHOP:  "After consulting the Presbyteral Council and the Cabinet, I have decided to extend the dispensation from the Obligation of Sunday and Holy Day Mass until February 16th, the day before Ash Wednesday." However, the bishop strongly encourages those in good health to attend Sunday Mass. Each parish takes seriously COVID protocol, and so you should feel safe to return to Mass. The great news is that Churches have not been a spreader event.

Inspiration of Scripture #BYOB
Starting next month is the Bishops Year of the Bible (#BYOB), and so over the next few weeks we'll talk about Scripture to prepare us for the year. Bishop Boyea's Year of the Bible Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Why read the Holy Bible? Well, as that great figure of the Early Church, Saint Jerome, said: “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ”. Jesus Christ is our reason to read the Holy Bible. It is in the pages of Sacred Scripture that we encounter him; that we get to know him and he gets to know us; that we fall in love with him, and, thus, we discover our deepest peace, happiness and meaning. That’s why I invite you to join me in reading through the Holy Bible over the course of the next 12 months, starting this Advent. Together, it will be our Year of the Bible. Each day, I will text you a chapter of Sacred Scripture directly to your cellphone. We will then read it and meditate upon it. Over the weeks, I’ll also text you invitations to events; share video reflections with you; and let you know about other Year of the Bible updates. By the end of 12 months, we will have made our pilgrimage together. Do you want to sign up? Well, all you have to do is pick up your cellphone and text the letters BYOB – that stands for Bishop’s Year of the Bible – to 84576. Alternatively, if you would rather receive the daily scripture reading via e-mail, click here to sign up. I look forward to journeying with you as we encounter Christ through various books of the Bible over the next 12 months. Let us make this a deeply spiritual year for all of us. Thank you and God bless you. + Earl Boyea Bishop of Lansing
