The FWAM staff will be joined by members of the Second Rainbow Coalition and Civil Rights Attorney Kama Patel to have a roundtable discussion on police brutality, organizing around this issue (and others)

We will be answering questions from the comments, discussing our own organizing, things we’ve learned, how communities are impacted by police brutality, and of course, how the police represent a system of repression and brute force by the ruling class.

In place of this week's Current Events Stream, we sat down with a couple of Comrades and had a deeper dive into Police Brutality as a whole, how we should be responding to recent killings, organizing, historical perspective on the "policing" system, etc. 

There's a lot to this, so we'll be doing this again in early February, as a bigger roundtable with more guests, amplifying voices directly affected by police killings.. Keep up-to-date on our Facebook and website for exact updates!

The FWAM staff is doing a deep dive into Police Brutality in 2022-2023. We're inviting on some guests and really tackling what has been a hard-to-swallow kick for the start of the year.

We'll be discussing the Stop Cop City protests (RIP Comrade Tortuguita), Tyre Nichols, and a whole bunch more!

In our first FWAM Current Events show of 2023, we're talking about housing in Missouri, New England, and as a broad issue. 

We're talking about 2022's RECORD HIGH police funding, and the connection that has with police killings also being at a record-high level. 

We talk about 2022 being the most union-active year in decades, and some things that need to happen to continue that trend. 

We can't miss the House Speakership showdown, and how if "the Squad" were actually allies, they could've won some concessions as well....but they didn't want to. 

And, of course, we wrap things up discussing Climate Change, and the atmospheric river over California, and severe winds and thunderstorms in the southeast.
