Back to the Great White North for this one folks. This week we bring Lisa on the show to chat artistic blacksmithing. Lisa has been at this game for a good amount of time now. Not only has she gained skills and tools for amazing art, her reputation in the community is that of an amazing artist. I have personally had a chance to see her art in person and was nothing short of amazed. Even my daughter thought very highly of it.
We dive into what got her started and where it started. We then trail off into how she runs business and of course we get a breakdown of her tools. Mathieu Laroque aka laroquez joins this show as co-host while Nick takes a bit of a break. This was his first cohosting gig so give the guy some slack. Episode 121 with Shane Kribernegg of Friday Forge in Twin Lakes, BC, Canada

Welcome back to the Great White North ladies and gents. This week I (Lando) sat down with Shane to hear about how his journey into blacksmithing began at a very early age, but it took some push to get him interested in what his dad had already been doing for years. Shane's father comes from a life of farrier work and at one point in life Shane finally faced the hard truth that the passion for metal work ran in his blood too.

This episode was originally recorded over a month ago. Technical issues caused a large portion of the files to be lost and thus we had to sit down again which was just a couple weeks ago now. In this episode you will hear about Shane's big new purchase for his big new shop! There were some difficulties in getting the new shop going but it's up now and looking mint.

Shane is no stranger to blacksmithing outside of farrier work as well. You will hear about how he has spent some time learning from some really great smiths such as Shawn Cunningham and Jeri Sparshu as well as John Williams!

Episode 118 David Walker of Fire Iron Forge in Rathdrum, Idaho.

Another great episode with a very solid gent. David is on the Abana board and this has a ton of insight as to how Abana works. We get into what is going to be happening at the 50th anniversary coming up this June. David is one of the people responsible for organizing the team forging event which lines up well for David as he has been working hard at developing an educational shop. Amongst himself and some other local Smith's there is some amazing opportunities for people wanting to learn blacksmithing. We all saw a influx in blacksmithing with forged in fire, but as David tells us, you soon find out that making knives has much more than just forging. As he has progressed in his skills with blacksmithing he has also been teaching these skills with a surmounted level of success.
It's exciting to hear a success story in the works like David's and we are Forge Side Chat all look forward to seeing where this goes for him.

Marcus and I have been buddies on the socials for a few years and one thing really sticks out about this guy. His work lies in the occult world! Its got a dark and sinister look yet whimsicle and daring to the beholder.

This ladie pushes blacksmithing inna direction like no one else. I personally put her work next to the likes of someone like Peter Braspenix. Ellen has brought metal art into the fashion world in a most amazing way. Her run way projects are absolutely mind blowing. Again I would compare her work to the greatness of Cirque Du Soleil. While not nearly the grandiose of the Cirque, she definitely brings an essence of that style of entertainment to the table. Combine her amazing talent with metal art, fashion runways and preforming artists and you get yourself something unlike anything else in this world.
This one was a solo hosting job. Hope you all can handle it. I personally like it best when there is one of the Nicks bouncing around with me. Much love and respect for taking part in the show people. Its really amazing to hear how many people have enjoyed the show. Thank you all very much!!

Yeah, ok, so we did it again. Actually, another solo host episode as I head south of the 59 and touched based with a knifemaker in Florida. Rowdy had actually reached out to me in interest of being on the cast. After a quick conversation, it became very clear how dedicated he is to this craft. The man has a ton of love for knifemaking and has dove beyond head first into it all. From tooling to education, he has really tried to develop his game. The man has a super awesome group of guys he has been able to tap into, which has really helped things take off eh. But, all of this comes from a very tragic incident that Rowdy faced not long ago. Thats right! Alex Norton back on with the boys at Forge Side Chat. This time Lando and Welschy sit down to discuss blacksmith life with Alex. Many of you may remember Alex from the very beginning of Forge Side Chat. Before it was an actual podcast! Yep! We have over 30 recordings we did prior to releasing episode 1 of the podcast. Jen has recently been making a name for herself with metal sculpture. She has won 1st place in the Artistic and Design category of Metal Supermarkets ‘Metal My Way’ Contest.
Awarded 2nd place in Fusion Arts International Art Competition ‘5th Women Artists Art Exhibition’ and has also graced the front page of FFJournal magazine!
Jen works out of the shop she built on her property along with help from the family. She is a hunter and you can definitely see her love for wildlife come to play in her art pieces. Jen is also working on a super modest tool list. You might be surprised to hear what little she uses to accomplish so much!
