When I first started in business there was a philosophy that Good was Good Enough.   They really weren’t referring to doing crappy work or not providing good information but more so in terms of creating something good and then getting it out there.   Today, with so much access and so much information, I started to wonder, is Good really Good Enough anymore?

In a world where I am supposed to be going live on Facebook, creating a reel on Instagram and then doing a dance challenge on TikTok it gives me pause on whether or not we are really putting out things that are still ‘good’ and if we are, is it enough?  I think the older I get, the more I really strive to be Excellent vs. Good---just wanting to put my very best self out there in front of the world vs. simply a good version of myself that can be so quick to hammer out the next TikTok dance move.    Not excellent in the A+ kind of personality way, but sort of in the real Karen, A- kind of way. Not perfect, but striving for excellent..

Which is your favorite?

I like them all.

My friend Woody---met in a class—made $1m before he was 28 and spent it all.

As we get older—we worry about having enough money---if you are like me, you aren’t sure the SS or pension will be there for you when you are ready to retire.

I was 48 years old before I really understood how important it was to achieve financial freedom---mostly because its when we lost everything in the 2008 crash...

If you have sisters or ‘sister friends’ you know-- what a blessing they are in your lives.  My two sisters are my best friends.  I love them both so much and there isn’t anyone I would rather laugh, cry or solve the worlds problems with nearly every day.  We all three live in different states so we spend most of our time together on the phone or via text.   But, we are always connected and we can say anything to one another.

Women’s W.I.N. is part of the ‘sister network’ which means we are all here to help and support one another.  To be ourselves, open, honest and vulnerable.  But also strong, smart and maybe, a little sassy too.  We should be able to cut to the chase, say what we need to say and expect to receive support, feedback, and even, reinforcement.

Do you remember the Peter Lowe conferences?  He would have an assortment of great speakers giving keynote presentations, sales presentations and motivational presentations.   His headliner was almost always the amazing Zig Ziglar—famous for saying ‘You Can Have Everything in Life You Want if You Will Just Help Enough Other People Get What They Want.”

Time to Pull Up Those Big Girl Panties…AGAIN!!!X$%?@!!!  How many times will I need to do this???  As many as it takes said the grasshopper. 

You know how the saying goes’ ‘If I had a nickel for every time I had to pull up my big girl panties, I would be a millionaire!’  Well, it goes something like that!

Several years ago,--about 10 years ago- I had a  series of TIA’s.—Many people refer to them as small strokes.  I’ve talked about this before but what was interesting was that I lost vision in a portion of my eye during the actual episode of the strokes. It was as though ½ my eye was blacked out.  It was a very unusual experience.

Other times during these strokes, I had 5 of them over a period of a month, I had what was referred to ‘fish eye’ or ‘ripple vision.’  It’s like you are swimming and the vision you get underwater.

Then, last week, I was having trouble with a sinus infection and my eyes were swelling.  It looked like I lost the fight—lol---I had big bags under both eyes and it literally looked as though they were filled with water.    During that time, I started to get Ripple Vision again and of course, Pete and I were on high alert.   I haven’t had a stroke or a TIA, at least not to my knowledge in the past 10 years.  But all that time ago, the doctor told me I would have a 90% chance of having a massive stroke.  I decided to make up my own mind on that one but that is a podcast for another day.

The ripple vision gave me pause but it also made me think about the ripple effect of impact.  The contributions we make, as women, to other women or other girls.   When we make a difference to another woman, or another girl or the next generation, where does it go from there?  Do you have a story of impact?  Maybe an impact in your life or that of someone else?

One of the things I always think of it our pastor talking about being blessed when you receive but more blessed when you give.  It made such an impact on me that it became the foundation of W.I.N.---the Women’s Wealth and Impact Network.  It’s why we donate proceeds from every Masterclass to help empower and embolden women and girls across the globe.  Why we made you a part of all that donation.  It’s a ripple effect.  Without even realizing it, you are already a part of creating Impact.

1. When women come together….a palpable ripple effect occurs.  It’s powerful and you can’t ignore it.
2. Even by touching one life, you can begin the ripple effect without ever knowing its full impact
3. Mahatma Ghandi, Rosa Parks, Nelson Madela—they began the ripple effect with just one act, one word, one speech…what can you do to create a ripple effect?  What’s in your heart?

I know how to create wealth and it was part of what I wanted to show other women how to do.  It’s my ‘more blessed.’  And, I feel like it can create a ripple effect---like the old wella balsam shampoo commercials--- and I told two friends and they told two friends and so on and so one.    But if I can show you how to create more wealth, and it leads you to a better life, one without financial concerns and serves your purpose, aren’t you more inclined to ‘fly it forward’ to the next woman—the next girl—the next generation to help create an impact in their lives?  Then, what if they do the same…and so one.

You can see now, why Ripple vision isn’t so bad when you start to all the layers.

In life it seems like we have been conditioned early on to get approval from someone regarding everything we do. The problem is, once we become a woman, then we still think we need approval. Don’t you think you are enough of a grown up now, to grant self-approval? Trust me, you will deal be dealing with a much more agreeable ‘Board of Directors’ if you are the CEO of your life! 

Why do we seek others approvals? 

1) It’s what we are taught as children--- and then rewarded for our success. Speaking. Walking. Leaning. Achieving.

 2) As Adults, it’s how we move forward in Society---recognition in school, you move to the next grade. Approval at Work, you get a promotion. 

3) Appoint yourself CEO of your Life and take action. You will be the only one that needs to approve action which will shock you at your success, (failure that leads to success) and your shortened timeline! Today, we are going to talk about Whose approval we are waiting for now. The other day I had written a sales letter that needed to go to our project manager for a Masterclass we are creating for all of you that comes out in January. I sent it to my husband because I always value his opinion and then waited to get it back with any notes before we added it to the file for our Project Manager. I waited and waited. The problem was, I needed to be able to create other pieces based upon this sales letter. I still had a video to do, an outline, a Landing Page and so on but it all hinged on this Sales letter, which by the way, I was really proud of as it said exactly what I wanted it to say. I felt as though it really conveyed my true intention and spoke to my audience. Still waiting… Finally, I realized that while I valued Pete’s opinion, I didn’t need his approval. It was a lightbulb moment for me. Go back to being a kid---what happens when we do something expected of us?  Then talk about work history  Come to today—who do we seek approval from and why? Do we need it? What is the difference between an opinion and seeking approval? Turns out Pete really liked the Sales Letter too and he did offer me some feedback which I was able to incorporate. But it was ME that was looking for approval---HE wasn’t looking at it like that at all and HE WAS BUSY. Appoint yourself CEO of your own life, choices, decisions and actions today. Renew your contract every year and what the heck, give yourself a raise. I know I am in it to WIN it…what about you?

As Women in our 40’s, 50’s 60’s and 70’s we have grown accustomed to doing everything for everyone else and then possibly, if we can still keep our eyes open late at night, squeezing in something for ourselves.  But the Universe is shifting and it’s OUR TURN.   The threat of Legal Action made me reevaluate what I wanted to do and it made me change everything for the better. In that moment, I knew it was MY TURN…and I was going to take it!   How about you?

I had waited years to do what I wanted to do.  Years doing things I didn’t want to do. Years with a dream in my heart that pounded to get out, but silenced, year after year.  With each decade—30, then, 40 and now, into my 50’s I would think ‘Okay, I can’t get any older before I do this.’  And, yet, year after year, I let it pass, putting everyone and everything first.  I think it’s part of being a woman.  Have you ever felt the same?   But the other thing about being a woman now, in my 50’s—and maybe you are at that point as well, in your 40’s 50’s, 60’s, 70’s—doesn’t matter what age—what matters is you still have something in your heart that you KNOW you MUST do and now, Its OUR TURN.   It can be something you’ve thought about for 24 years---like me---or it can be something more recent, maybe born from experience or life.   Either way, it’s OUR TURN.

When I was 23-24 years old, I went to a home show at a convention center in St. Louis, with my mom and my 2 sisters.  I wanted to be an actor but was raised with the idea that it wouldn’t happen so I should have a back up plan.  I’m not saying a back up plan is a bad idea but I think that kids should be allowed to pursue a dream.  That’s a whole other story and podcast….might just be a few podcasts after a few glasses of wine!  But while we were there, a local newscaster was the ‘celebrity’ at the event.

My mom kept saying it would be a good ‘back up plan’ for me to be a newscaster even though I had zero interest in doing so but I went and talked to her anyway.   You can tell she didn’t make any type of impact on me as I don’t even remember her name, the station or anything else except…when I asked her about becoming a newscaster, telling her I have thought about doing something like that, she asked me my age.   When she found out I was in my early 20’s she told me ‘You are too old to get started in this business.’   I was stunned but my story, for the next 25 years was that I was too old.   It took me nearly 25 years before I realized I am the only person that can tell myself whether or not I am too old for something I want to do.  And, I will never allow anyone to hold me back ever again because of my age.  And, while my priorities have changed because I no longer want to jump on a trampoline or try to look like I am 30, those are my choices, at my age.   And today, I think, shame on anyone who tells us otherwise.  No one has the right to rob us of building great wealth and creating an incredible impact in this world and, its OUR TURN!   Are you with me?
