E23~Positive Harmony

With spring, we have new beginnings and a new series of this podcast Be to Blossom. In this episode of Positive Harmony, I interview Stefan Ball, the Director of the Bach Centre who has written many books on the Bach Flower Remedies.  This was recorded awhile ago, yet the wisdom shared is evergreen.

I start by talking about the state of being and how it activates our soothing emotional regulation system which is vital to blossom. In the interview with Stefan, we speak about his books, metamood, different remedies, hornbeam for the monday morning feeling, impatiens for patient, beech for intolerance, chestnut bud for learning from mistakes, we discuss various different metaphors, how the Bach Flower system is simple but it is humans that are complicated and we end with Stefan sharing three tips on how the remedies empower us to cultivate positive harmony in our lives. To find out more the Bach Flower Remedies and Stefan’s book tune into the Bach Centre Website - www.bachcentre.com.

E11 – Courage to face one’s shadow side

E11 – Courage to face one’s shadow side

This episode titled “Courage to face one’s shadow side” is an interview with Lesley Cooke, Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner and Author of two books. This is a lively, interactive and compassionate discussion on how to muster bravery.

We spoke about how painful and difficult it can be to address our shadow side and face our reality. It is easier to blame others rather than shed some light on our own weaknesses and take responsibility to change. However sometimes the only way we can turn to the light is validate what we are feeling and our thoughts to liberate oneself.

Being present is one of the antidotes of anxiety and we discussed the quote by journalist Fi Glover. “It’s that art of living in the moment – a state of mind I find almost impossible to achieve. I’ve never been able to forget the past and not worry about the future. Part of parenting involves trying to predict what comes next and part of being over 50 is having a considerable amount of stuff in the bank of life to look back on, both good and bad. But here, today right now? Well that always seems like the woobly wooden bridge across the canyon – the thing you race over, not allowing your weight to jeopardise your safe passage. “

We finished off speaking about how each of us individually birth ourselves brave. Lesley as well as an author is a poet and has been writing a variety of poems. She shared with us a unifying poem. “Bravery is not the overcoming of fear but the manifestation of love. What is love but understanding? What is understanding but a foundation stone for the world. As building and foundation are one, we are one with the world. One whole. Expressing love through bravery is a way of upholding the universe. Lesley Cooke has written two books ‘Space to Think’ and ‘Turning to the light’ which can be bought directly from Lesley by emailing her on lac.ttc@gmail.com or through the Bach Centre on the link here . With wonderful technology you can also buy her eBook on the link here.

E9 – Infertility, Courage and Resilience

E9 – Infertility, Courage and Resilience

This episode titled “Infertility, Courage, and Resilience “is an interview with Sophie-Jane Hardy, Communication Consultant for Creative and Change Makers. We talk about how one stays courageous during a fertility journey, the Fertile Body Method, and how to manage your career whilst planning for a child, pregnancy and motherhood. This is timely released before Fertility Week from 2nd to 5th November 2020.

We spoke about silent transformation that occurs reading the book by Sharon Blackie, “Woman Rose Rooted – Sharon Blackie which is a guide book for our times, for women who are living a calling and wanting to step into leadership. The other areas, we covered were how infertility is a grieving journey, a sliding journey, it is a world of paradox. Cycle awareness and strong boundaries are key. The words ‘just relax’ is not what one wants to hear rather it is empathy one requires to navigate through empathy.

The Fertile Body Method was pivotal in Sophie’s conscious conception. Specifically, solution-focused questioning, surrounding yourself with positivity in the face of challenge and 7-11 breathing to calm and soothe the nervous system and the visualisation/ reframing during the IVF process to imagine the injections are liquid sunshine to fertilise these budding seeds. To find out more about the Fertile Body Method Therapists and visualisation you can visit www.fertilebodymethod.com

Resilience is a muscle and one needs to keep it active. Sophie is inspired by Christine Shuler Deshryver the director of City of Joy (https://cityofjoycongo.org) which is also available as a series to watch on Netflix. Another source of inspiration was the book ‘Lean In Women, Work, and the Will to Lead’ written by Sheryl Sandberg. A fertile journey makes you indomitable where you surrender into breaking and radiance.
