My guest today is Sherrie Storor. Phoebe first met Sherrie when she was one of the biggest agents in Brisbane, but since then a lot has changed for Sherrie, and we talk a lot about that journey in this chat.
A few of the highlights include that in recent years Sherrie has changed focus, with her main business shifting from being a sales agent, to that of being a sales coach, specialising in real estate.
She’s also launched and runs a Women in Real Estate Breakfast series, which in 2019 had over 1200 agents attend events in four cities around the country.
She’s a speaker and has given keynotes at a number of high profile industry events.
She’s a BMW brand ambassador. And she’s just launched her Build Your Best Life coaching program, which I’ll let her tell you about.
There was one topic in particular that I thought was particularly interesting. And that is Sherrie’s concept of the Celebrity Agent, and how everyone (whether an agent or a stylist) should think about how to build a celebrity profile. I know some of you listening will hear that and think “that’s not for me, I don’t want to have my face all over social media”. But hear what Sherrie has to say first.

This week on the podcast Jake sat down with a Brisbane real estate agents, who owns and operates his own agency. His guest is Will Torres of Torres Property, based in Coorparoo, and one of Brisbane’s Top 5 Sales People of the Year. We’ve been working with Will at least two years, and we’ve seen him go from working for a big brand – Place Estate Agents, to going out on his own and growing his agency from scratch to a team of around 16 people in just 15 months.
So, we obviously covered the topic of working for someone else versus going out on your own as a business owner, which is something most of us can probably relate to.
We also spoke quite a bit about building a team of high performing, highly competitive people, but balancing that with the need to have everyone get along and work well together.
Maybe the biggest takeaway from this chat though, will come from the conversation we had about pricing, and in particular, dealing with requests and pressure to lower our prices. Which is something agents deal with just as much as we do as stagers.

It’s been a little while since my last podcast, but I’m back and I’ve got a special episode for you today, particularly for those looking to build a significant home staging business, and I’m talking a million dollar revenue business. Hey everyone, Cody here. I felt left out so decided to start my own segment within the Foxy Property Chat Podcast. Here it is. My role at Foxy is all about Marketing and Media so I thought I’d chat to others in the industry about how they are using Marketing to grow their business.
My first guest is a friend of mine - Phil Zabaks from Ray White Marsden. Phil and I use to play football together and I’ve seen his videos pop up on social media from time to time so I thought he’d be the perfect first guest.
I ask Phil how he got his start in Real Estate and what it takes to be a great Agent. We talk about his background a bit before discussing how he is using social media to sell properties. We also have a few fun games towards the end so ensure to stick around for that.

David’s is an interesting story, because the business actually started as a house painting service, and ended up as the first presale makeover service in Brisbane. They looked after the whole renovation stage (they held the building license) and styled the property for their clients.
A couple of years ago David and his business partner decided to part ways, and David continued Brisbane Makeover Co. as a Home Staging specific company, and focuses on high end, high price tag homes. We talked about how having a business partner helped scale BMC, but then how incredibly difficult it was to split the business up when the time came. And I asked David’s advice for thinking about taking on a business partner.
I also asked David the rapid fire questions, and actually gave an answer myself for what is a really weird thing that I love doing.

Tara started her business officially in 2016 and styles properties all over Sydney.
They talked about her journey to this point and what got her into the home staging industry. 'You get what you pay for'. Everyone's heard the saying before, and in varied situations - different industries, different products, different services. And in many cases - maybe in most cases - there's a very good argument to be made for why that's the case.
But the Home Staging industry in Brisbane? I hear it all the time from businesses attempting to justify their high prices, and it's simply not true...
