Faith of Our Farmers

This week we talk with Don Lamb, farmer and follower of Christ. Don gives some background about his farm and the ministry AgriStewerts. We also talk about the Prayer Gathering at the National Farm Machinery Show Louisville KY February 18th.

This week Chris brings us another lesion from the Farming Gods Way Study manual.

This week farmer author Chuck Carr shares his story.  After a barn fire, the loss of his young wife and a major farm accident, Chuck shares how his faith got him through those times and still does today.

This week we visit with Aubrey Lettinga VanLaan. She is a fourth generation dairy farmer from Wayland ,MI. Her and her family run Walnutdale Family Farms. Aubrey shares of some of life's struggles being a dairy farmer and how her faith keeps her grounded. 

The bible teaches us to live out our faith each day. Some days that is easier then others. And sometimes God opens doors for us and we never see them. This week Cliff Carter shares how we can minister to others while never leaving the farm. And how God has used him to minister to others through the Make A Wish program. And lastly how God has used people the Make A Wish program to minister to Cliff. Enjoy this weeks podcast, its special.

 Dr. Wes Jamison is an associate professor of communication at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he teaches public relations, persuasion, political communication, and communication theory. Prior to moving to Florida, Wes served for over a decade as professor of political and social science at universities in the U.S. and Europe, where he taught agriculture politics, agricultural history, and American national government.   With a Ph.D. from Oregon State University studying interest group activism, and post-doctoral research at the University of Florida researching theories of public relations as they relate to activist communications and urban-rural conflict, Dr. Jamison's expertise combines public relations, political science, and political communication. 

Wes is currently nearing completion of a second Ph.D. in public relations from the University of Florida. Before coming to PBA, Wes most recently taught graduate classes in public relations at the University of Florida. His research expertise involves political communication and public relations as it relates to food, agriculture, and science politics, as well as corporate communications. Regarding service, he has also served as a board member of the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, and as director of the Agricultural Stewardship Center. 

 Dr. Jamison is president of Cornerstone Public Relations L.L.C., and as part of his consulting business he currently conducts research in the U.S. and Europe on public relations, political communication (especially related to agricultural politics), as well as urban-rural issues. He also consults with companies in Europe, India and the U.S. on communications issues, and has also published extensively on agricultural politics. He is a native Floridian, has 4 children, and enjoys sailing and all outdoor activities.

This week we talk to Dennis Schlagel, Executive Director of the Fellowship of Christian Farmers. We learn about how the ministry got started. How the walking stick ministry came about. And how you can get involved in both sharing the gospel at farm events and volunteering for relief work.

This week we visit with Karen Jorden. Karen is a dairy farmer. A Veterinarian and serves on many committees in the dairy industry. She shares how her faith gets her through each busy day.

This week we talk with Elaine Froese. Elaine is a farm family coach. And she offers farm families straight talk and courageous conversations on the issues that seem impossible to solve.

This weak we introduce Dr. Val Farmer. Dr. Farmer has spent his life's career working with the Ag community as a consular. This we we get to hear his testimony and then begin to touch on how the church can play a role in helping with mental health within the Ag community.

This week we talk to Brian Smith of Agri-Stewards. And he tells us about the Farming Gods Way ministry.
