Mark Kelly (along with input from Kathi Kelly and Stuart Allan) introduces Discipleship Triplets to Freedom Church with very practical ideas and ways that everyone can get involved. (Apologies for the sound quality, we had to use the sound from the camera rather than the sound desk for this one.)
In this message, Mark Kelly unfolds our overall vision statement: We are a church that welcomes the unchurched. A church that reveals and demonstrates the relentless love of God.
Mark Kelly brings a message very much directed at Freedom Church as he speaks about our future. He encourages us to think about our destiny and the legacy we are building. This is a significant season of change for us!

God’s peace can fill us and rule within us even when we are surrounded by death and evil. God’s presence and peace can pierce even dark and painful surroundings and circumstances, including any war or any emotional valley we find ourselves in.
What kind of 'garden' are we cultivating in our minds? Is it blooming and bearing fruit, or is it overcome with weeds and brambles? The mind is a battlefield for good and evil. If good is to win and God to have His way then our minds must be constantly transformed by His Word and the revelation of His Spirit (Romans 12:2)
We hope you are encouraged, inspired and challenged by our talks.
Check us out on social media (search Freedom Church Leeds). Visit our website: www.myfreedom.church for more info.
If we take the time to study His Word, to pray, to learn about who He is, and to worship Him, we would begin to experience His love and love Him in return. Let’s choose to “love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind. And let us love our neighbour as ourselves.”
When we’re talking discipleship of someone who follows Christ we’re talking about a potential lifelong commitment. When we come to faith in Christ and receive His salvation, it's the beginning. Receiving Christ may be a high point, but it really is just the start!
Ian Rossol brings us a word based around Psalm 18.
(The audio has an unwanted echo effect which lasts until about five minutes in. Apologies and please stick with it!)
In this first of three sermons examining prayer and the Psalms, Patricia Gray teaches us that through prayer we grow closer to God, hear His voice more clearly, and function better.
What is it that God has spoken to you about being or doing in this present season where you need to take a step out in faith and take the initiative so that you bring glory to God and make His name known?
As Christians, we should be highly committed to the growth and well-being of the people we are serving, people whom we call family. But we should most especially be committed to Jesus the Christ.
In the world of paid work, we can calculate the value of an employee by working out how much money they help the business generate. It sounds cold, but generally, that's the point of being in business - to make money. How do you place a figure on someone who serves for nothing? How are we able to perceive value in what we do for free?
The Church is made up of people we might not always get along with or even agree with - but that's something God can use. Despite our differences, the Holy Spirit unites us and works in our hearts and communities for our good and for His glory!
We should expect uncomfortableness because the crucifixion and what Jesus did on the cross is at the very centre of our faith. We should look to Jesus as an example of how to deny ourselves and take up our crosses, for it is in His work that we find true comfort.
Rather than attempting to find our dream church, we should embrace the uncomfortable and difficult parts of the Christian life – a life that by default means we are connected to people, and people can be awkward, and in some cases downright peculiar!
We warmly welcome home for a brief visit, Steve & Lynn Blackah who lead a church in Paris. In this message, Steve talks about faith healing and the activation of this gift.
Mark Kelly erects some figurative scaffolding to show how we as a church will build ourselves up in courage so we can step out bravely into all that God has got for us in 2018!
Then all at once, a vast number of glorious angels appeared, the very armies of heaven! And they all praised God, singing: “Glory to God in the highest realms of heaven! For there is peace and a good hope given to the sons of men.” (Luke 2:13-14)
Some of us are so familiar with the Christmas story that we can let the detail of it brush over us. But it is good, and important, for us to pause and to ponder in our hearts the reality and wonder of who God sent and why.
Mark Kelly brings us the final part of our teaching series - 'We Are The Church'. Every believer has been given a mission by God to advance his kingdom and get back his lost children. We will share the good news with others when we have a missional mindset, not a selfish one.
Part #3 of our recent teaching series by Mark Kelly. This week, Mark challenged us with this statement: Our faith must be based on a personal relationship with Jesus, but we can’t do it alone; we must pursue genuine community with other believers. Rather than attending church on a come-and-go basis, we should strive to be connected to an authentic, Godly community.
In the 2nd part of our 'We Are The Church' series, Mark Kelly talks to us about his desire for the Church to view itself first and foremost as a family.
Mark Kelly kicks off our 4-week teaching series all about the Church. The Church, depending on your view, is a powerful force for good, relevant today as it ever has been or it's an outdated institution whose time is up!
The Bible is an amazing and inspired collection of books and letters given to us from God to help us live righteously and to equip us to help advance the Kingdom of God with a desire to bring Heaven to Earth.
Our fruitfulness in life flows directly from our encounter with God and our daily walk with Him, as we allow His presence to fill us, transform us and expand us.
"Do Not Judge Others." (The Bible Doesn't Say That!) - Actually, it does! However, in the Bible Jesus didn't just say, “Do not judge others" followed by a full stop or an exclamation point. He said, “Do not judge others,” followed by a clarification of what type of judgments to make, when to make them, and how to make them.
Dave Gann and the team from KPMC perform a sketch from their production, 'Heart Cry'. Dave then gives us a sermon which opens up their piece in more detail. (Please forgive the quality of the audio throughout the sketch.)
The pages of the Old Testament contain some of the most amazing stories you’ll ever read. Many of these stories revolve around a young shepherd boy who grew up to become King David.
David was the greatest king Israel would ever know, but he didn’t become great all on his own. He depended on God, but we're also told he relied on at least thirty special soldiers for much of his military might. And within that 30 were three men, the Bible tells us, that performed some awesome feats!
Kathi Kelly brings us a testimonial message of how God is good, and how faithful He is in the midst of struggle and seemingly dark places.
(We apologise for the poor quality audio.)
If we seek after the Kingdom of God - that is: His rule and reign - we will find direction for our lives, but we do this by humbly submitting to God's will and placing this first and before anything else.
You might be disappointed that you aren't doing now what you had imagined you would be doing when you were a child. Or you might be doing something even better! Either way, life has a funny way of working work, there are twists and turns that we could never predict. Kathi reminds us that the one thing we are definitely destined for - greatness!
From God's point of view, our purpose in life is very simple. Just like a grape vine, the main purpose of our lives is to produce fruit. What is even more important for us to understand is that the owner of the vineyard is in charge, in control, and focused on receiving as much fruit as possible from His vineyard.
Ian Rossol shares more on key verses in John 15, opening up the words 'abide' and 'compassion'. He also explains about the pickling of small cucumbers ... what's this got to do with the Holy Spirit?
"I am the operating system, you are the smartphone, he who installs Me means I am now part of all your online accounts and can develop many apps; apart from Me you are liable to crash."
These are loads of the things we can do to help us live fruitful lives and become amazing examples of Jesus followers. Mark Kelly begins our 2017 journey (with the first of many sermons) in which we will discover how we can make this year - a year of extreme fruitfulness!
Christians are called to be people who easily forgive - it's with an attitude of forgiveness, of both a willingness to give and to receive, we keep away from attitudes of judgment with condemnation.
Rather than shouting into the storm and not be heard, are we instead turning to the Prince of Peace and asking Him to remind us who we are and who His has made us to be?
They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. (Revelation 12:11)
If we recognise that Jesus is with us in the storm or ready to meet us in the storm ahead, we simply need to ask Him for guidance and help. It seems in the story of Peter walking on the water (Matthew 14:22-36) we see that Peter wanted more than anything to be close to Jesus. So he asked Jesus if he could walk on the water. He moved from being a passive observer of the supernatural, to being an active participant!
"Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from His heart.’" (When He said “living water,” He was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in Him. (John 7:38-39a)
God is always near; it's our awareness of Him that ebbs and flows. It's our choice whether we are present in His presence or not. If we choose to, we can be like a magnet for God's presence.
Steve & Lynn Blackah, whom we sent out a number of years ago to minister a work in France, paid us a visit this weekend. Over the last year they have been students at the School of Supernatural Ministry (Bethel Church, Redding, CA). They tell a story of personal growth and amazing testimonies.
The grace of God is so empowering when we are able to grasp what it means for us, not only at the point of salvation but in our daily walking with God and doing His will.
Using the life of Caleb from the story in the Biblical book of Joshua, chapter 14, Stu Allan encourages us to claim the prophetic words spoken over us as a church.
(Please forgive the sound quality of this week's talk.)
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14:1 (NLT): "Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives - especially the ability to prophesy." The NIV translation puts it like this: "Eagerly desire the gifts of the Spirit, especially prophesy."
When God tells us to desire specific gifts, it's because He wants to give us them! Not because we've earned them or deserve them, but because He is our Good Father, who loves to give gifts to His children.
"I'm not prepared to settle for a positive reputation; I want to see our local community and our city changed with Good News of Jesus Christ. I want to see this in my lifetime; I want to leave a legacy that says I did all that I could with all that God gave me, that I was a good and faithful servant. Do you want this for yourself too?" - Mark Kelly
In May 2016 we celebrated 35 years of the church being birthed, 10 years since our senior leaders and elders, Mark & Kathi Kelly, became part of the leadership team, and 1 whole year since our church move to East End Park / Richmond Hill.
When we sign up for this thing called Christianity, it is not like joining the Boy Scouts, we become new creatures. And with that change there are some things that become available to us. We have more to offer than nice and encouraging words. We have a power that is available to those who are willing to search out the source.

In many of the Psalms it is repeatedly written: "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever." Kathi Kelly explores the goodness and faithfulness of God.
As disciples of Jesus, we are to carry on His mandate into all the earth - to reveal the Father to a world that is cursed with sonless-ness and daughterless-ness, fatherless-ness and motherless-ness. We must reveal the love of the Good Father, His goodness, His grace, His mercy, His power and authority and what is means to be a part of His family.
Joy has to find an expression. As Christians, it is either expressed to God in praise and worship of who He is, or expressed to others about how good God is, what He has done and His faithfulness.
Our senior leaders, Mark & Kathi Kelly, recently attended Bethel Church's Leadership Advance conference in Redding, California. They came back excited and eager to share what they experienced and learned!
This Halloween, don’t close your home, don’t ignore the knocks on the door. Get some sweets and welcome people with a big smile and bright eyes. Take the opportunity to be the light the darkness. Let your story shine. And most importantly... don't be scared of the dark!
"Freedom Church, it's time we started seeing some remarkable things, it's time to get excited about church, it's time to lift the roof off from our expectations and start to believe in ourselves and what we can achieve as a local church. It's time we started seeing ourselves as God sees us, a force for good and a church that will advance His Kingdom." - Mark Kelly
Stu Allan continues his exploration of what it really means for Freedom Church to be called 'Freedom Church'. He asks, in light of this, how do we see ourselves, the people in the local community, as well as the city of which we are a part?
When you desire something desperately, it consumes you. You can't think about anything else, everything you do is fuelled by the desire you have. You're always working towards that which you desire. So, shouldn't we by like this when it comes to seeing people birthed into the Kingdom of God?
Stu Allan affirms our change of name from City Church Leeds to Freedom Church and begins to open up our journey of working out what this means in both the spiritual and the natural.
God has given us our talents, gifts, abilities, knowledge, understanding and intellect. How are we working these things out with imagination and creativity?
Kathi Kelly shares what God has put on her heart which is a new name for our church - Freedom Church. This comes with a firm mandate from Luke 4:18-19 and shows us an exciting future into which we can walk together!
Mark Kelly shares on Pentecost Sunday the Good News of Jesus Christ and challenges us not be satisfied with living in a world that is upside down, inside out and all kind of crazy!

Ian Rossol preaches at our final week at Ashwood Centre in Headingley. He looks to the future of a church flowing into the streets, filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Barbara Macnish takes us on a whistle-stop Bible tour and through this brings out testimonies told, promises made and where God's presence is recognised.
Chip Kendal, singer and a creative director at Audacious Church in Manchester, encourages us to take a Stage-dive for God! Through this we learn to trust, take risks, and reach out ... as well as having lots of fun in the process.
Mark asks the question: What are some fundamental practices of our Christian faith?
(NOTE: The audio quality improves significantly after around 10mins.)
Kathi Kelly looks at what came next for the disciples after Jesus's resurrection and asks what does this mean for us? She partly answers this question by encouraging us to 'live sent' lives!

Peter Woodthorpe shares his heart by focusing on the charity KidzKlub, but by doing this he encourages us as a church family to continue to inspire mission and transform communities.
Mark Roques help us think of story-telling in a different way and explains how we might be able to share our story of faith in a way that isn't cheesy, but natural and easy.
God wants us to take the Good News to wherever in the world He has called us to be. The qustion is will we GO when He calls us to GO? We will STOP when He tells us? We will SHARE His love for us with everyone we meet?
Geoff Newton shares his personal testimony and in it reveals God's superabundant blessing.
(We apologise for the poor quality of the audio in this recording.)
Do you have a personal relationship with the Creator God, the Originator of spiritual life and light? If you do then that’s amazing. From this very moment why not make it a conviction that you will begin to be more open to others about Him. You don’t have to have everything sewn up for a relationship to begin - once you enter into this relationship Jesus will begin to transform you from the inside out.
(Note that the audio quality of this recording is poor. Please stick with it as the quality does improve slightly - or becomes easier on the ear! Technical bugs will be squashed for future talks!)
We can’t truly know God unless we allow ourselves to be transformed through the renewing of our minds. The goal of this renewing is to become Christ-like.
Mark Kelly reminds us of all that City Church Leeds were involved in over 2014 and encourages us to look forward with hope and positive expectation to 2015!
Jesus has said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die." It is in this statement that we reach to the very heart of the Christian message.
The story of a man born blind in John chapter nine, shows us a man receiving not only physical healing, but also an opening of his spiritual eyes to see the truth of salvation in Christ. A move away from law and religion and into the grace freely given.
Jesus' claim to be the 'bread of life' indicates the the kind of relationship God seeks to have with us in Christ is so close, so intimate, that it is like eating and drinking.
In today's talk Ben Cordy explores the feeding of the five thousand and when Jesus walk on water. Through these two miracles Ben reminds us that with Jesus there is more than enough, and we do not have to be afraid.
The miracle in today's talk is a reminder to us that no person or situation is too far gone that they are beyond His reach. And just because we’ve tried it before on our own, doesn’t mean we can’t do it when Christ is with us.
The signs we read about in the Gospel of John have a special significance in the wider Gospel narrative. They allow us to glimpse Jesus' glory and they point to the saving work of the incarnate Christ!
How does the relationship of the God-head (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) impact who we are as believers? John Casey ends our DNA series exploring Covenant and trying to give us an answer to this question.
[Please take time to watch the short video (attached to this audio) which John showed as a prelude to his talk.]
It is time for this part of Body of Christ to wake up from any kind of self-centred slumber and fully engage society again with the Gospel of the Kingdom.

We welcome guest speaker, Steve Blackah amongst us this week and he encourages us to see how valuable we are to God and how, in that, we will find our individual destinies.
Geoff Newton brings teaching on tithing and encourages us all to consider what the Bible has to say about money. He fleshes out Genesis 14:17-23 for our consideration by showing a connection of both tithing and the covenant meal.
Mark Kelly encourages us to make sure our foundations are being laid squarely and solidly upon Jesus Christ and His Word. Paying attention to detail and leaving no stone unturned in examining our lives to see if there is anything that’s not as it should be in accordance with God’s Word, so that we too can be like the wise man who built his house upon the Rock.
The relationship that Jesus had with the Holy Spirit becomes the template for every other son of God, since the sons of God are identified as those who are led by the Spirit.
Throughout the Gospels we Jesus transforming lives, restoring health, vitality, life, social acceptance. He is the same today. No problem is too great or intractable for Him. He invites us to bring ourselves and our friends for His healing touch. Whatever the outcome we know that Jesus's response is always compassionate and tender. He feels our pain - we are not alone.
Peter Topliss furthers our exploration of the Gospel of Mark and answers the question of 'Who Is Jesus?' this week with 'Effective Trainer'. Peter opens up to us the idea of being a disciple and what this actually means in the everyday of our lives.
We often hear the phrase we have 'victory in Jesus!', but what exactly does it mean? And how does it apply to us?
To help answer these questions Mark Kelly to pulls out of the Gospel of Mark three ways in which Jesus overcame something and was therefore victorious over it.
The Adel Life Group kick off our new series journeying through the Gospel of Mark - To teach others spiritual truth is a high and holy privilege and not one to be undertaken lightly. The teacher should ook to his or her own life and always maintain a close communication with the greatest Teacher of all time - Jesus Christ.
Geoff Newton describes with passion and clarity what it means to lay hold of The Kingdom - it means living a life in fulness and acknowledgment of the grace of Jesus Christ.
Ian Rossol opens up, in-part, some of the questions we have about End Time theology. Using primarily the Gospel of Matthew he skillfully unwraps a few verses through which Christians in the modern age have possibly imposed more onto Scripture than is what is actually said. (The book mentioned at the end of this talk is: Win the World or Escape the Earth by Ian Rossol and Tony Wastall.)
There's something exciting about sharing a secret. And in today's society you may find most people know Jesus as a swear word rather than a Saviour and haven't a clue about His Kingdom. What an amazing secret to share! Can you get excited about this secret of the King and His 'Kingdom of the heavens' on Earth? Who can you share this excitement with? What 'seeds' has God given you and where does He want you to sow them? Mike Rimmer helps answer some of these questions in our latest Matthew series installment.
The Kingdom of God is Good News! In part 3 of our series based around the Gospel of Matthew, Sarah Ayers encourages us to play our part in spreading the Good News.
The Kingdom of Heaven has come near - and it's the grace of God that leads to repentance. Repentance means turning around and living under the rule of a new King! When we repent and receive this new rulership we are challenged to live in a Godly way and oppose evil. But how exactly do you do that, how do you oppose evil in a Godly way? What can you learn from the way God acts when kingdoms are in contention?

When it comes to debating with people about creation, realise that it’s the devil we need to overcome, not scientific theories. Know your stuff and be able to give answers, for sure. But it’s the Gospel that is the power for salvation, and intelligent design or whatever arguments for God’s creative work you share - they are only useful if they point to Jesus, glorify the Father who sent him and challenge people to put their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ.
We all set priorities and this is where each one of us is challenged the most. If our priorities are not in order, then our lives will not be in order. If our priorities are not right, we won't be right. We don't have to pray about what our number one priority in life ought to be. We shouldn't really have to think about it. We don't have to discuss it. We don't have to do some soul searching for it. We don't have to go on a pilgrimage to find it. We just have to do it, because Jesus has already told us what our first priority ought to be, "Seek the Kingdom of God above ALL else."
In this final week a combined message from Mark & Kathi open up aspects of the final chapter of James, focusing in on the 'stressors' of trial and adversity and that to 'bust' these we must be patient, persevere and pray!
The Horsforth Life Group continued our exploration of James (this week chapter 4) through this short talk which was followed by discussion and feedback.
How easy it is to insensitively offend others with our words. This raises two issues: How can we best avoid using destructive words, and if we fail, how can we handle the hurt we have caused?
We all need to take steps to demonstrate our faith. The wonderful news of the Gospel is that faith does work. How? By demonstrating that faith in acts of kindness and goodness - acts of love - helping others in practical and tangible ways.
It doesn't matter whether people are rich or poor, famous or unknown, all need to know and experience the saving grace of Jesus. Be sure of this: there is no discrimination or favouritism at the foot of the cross!
Trials and adversity are the challenges that life throws as us. In difficult times, our attitude and response make all the difference. Our natural reaction can be to grumble, complain and resent them. However as believers we must remember that we have a divine resource to draw on to sustain us through them.
Ian Rossol continues his theme from his last visit which was based around the idea of changing culture. He expands on it by suggesting we primarily change our culture though love. (Ian's also promoted his excellent book which is available here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Win-World-Escape-Earth-Controversy/dp/1908393149)
Starting with Matthew 12:34 Geoff takes us on a journey helping us understand that as we reach out to unbelievers we must first make sure we are speaking out of a heart that is both positive and encouraging.
John Casey encourages us to give to the upcoming outreach programmes - re:fresh and Alpha - as well as exhorting us to enjoy life knowing that our reward is an intimate relationship with our Father.
Using Matthew 28:16-20 and Luke 19:10 Mark encourages us to place Jesus' command as number one priority in our lives and to do all we can 'to seek and save that which is lost'.
It is good to be different, and God designed it to be this way. If we think of God as our source of light we express that light as a spectrum of different colours.
John and Mark open up the plans for membership and how we hope to help bring people into fellowship with us as a local church and how we help them stay connected.
Patricia Gray concludes the series based on our acronym and encourages us to 'go out into all the world' and be a 'sent' people, even if that means you stay exactly where you are!
We continue our series through our LEEDS acronym as we explore what it means to be equipped. Mark Kelly takes us through a detailed look at the Ephesians 4 ministries.
Ian shares with us what it is like to live within a Heavenly culture rather than an earthly one. A culture of grace and love, not of rules and doctrine.
John Casey shares what it means to belong to a family and to God's church. Specifically he sets the scene for us to begin to discover what the advantages would be to recongising that we are part of a church family and being able to know who else is in this family with us. John discusses City Church Leeds and membership.
John opens up Genesis 11:27 though to the start of Genesis 12 and relates the journey that Abram (Abraham) took to our present journey as City Church Leeds.
When we read about the armour of God in Ephesians 6 we should absolutely be reminded that what we're talking about here aren't just some nice ways to talk about truth and righteousnesses and prayer, but Paul is saying look at what you now have access to because of the covenant relationship we can have with Father-God. Because this is His armour we now have the very tools and skills of God Himself! Everything He has is now at our disposal.
Mark Kelly challenges us in this latest talk on Ephesians (chapter 5) to take responsibility for our lives in the Chronos (a period, duration) so that God is able to bring us Kairos (immediate, special and specific) opportunities that we are not too busy or stressed to seize.
Mark Kelly shares openingly and transparantly of the issues that both himself and the congregation face as we enter 'the next phase' in the life of City Church Leeds. However in all the issues that we may face we realise that we have an amazing God who is for us and not against us! Mark also shares passionately the desire for us all to experience the manifest present of God.
In times of transition things are always at their weakest and most vulnerable. John Casey lays some Biblical foundations to help the City Church Leeds family through the next phase of change.
As we ‘put off’ old thought patterns and discard them, the Holy Spirit rebuilds our thoughts around Christ and His precepts - His commandments and directives.
Has God dropped something into your heart that is yet to come into being? Ephesians 3 talks about the available resources in God to make things happen, that God’s ability to abundantly supply immeasurably more than we can imagine, far exceeds our capacity to receive it.
We were once dead but have now been made alive with Christ, saved by grace, but more than that, we have not only been pulled out of the pit, but been given a position and access in the heavenly realms alongside Christ who is seated at the right hand of the Father.
(In this talk we use a video that can be purchased from 'The Skit Guys' http://skitguys.com/videos/item/gods-chisel)

We begin our series on the letter to the Ephesians with a hope to underline the message that we have an inheritance 'in Christ'. Often however we’re not accessing and utilising this inheritance because we don't feel worthy or accepted. Listen to this talk and believe that you ARE accepted in the Beloved!

John Casey wraps up our series by helping us understand what true friendship really means. And he does this with the help of our friends that make up City Church Leeds!
Kidz Klub Leeds hopes to make the difference for a generation of kids across Leeds. We offer the kids a positive alternative in a secure and safe environment. We work to meet the kids where they are at, seeking to support them, and provide the best in all that we do. (www.kidzklubleeds.org.uk)
How does leading a covenantal life impact our relationship to the culture we find ourselves in? What things are acceptable and what things go against the covenant living grain?
This episode in the series brings us back to the simplicty of Covenant, yet reminds us of its importance.
(The video that Ben showed - Back to the Start - is also available to view through this channel.)
What does Christmas mean to most people and what difference does it make to our lives? Mark Kelly talks about the difference between Christmas the holiday and ritual, and Christmas with the reason for the season, Jesus the Messiah!
'Hesed' is not only the instigator of Covenant, but Covenant is the conveyor of His 'Hesed' - His love. God show us His deep love for us through His Covenant with us.
Often times we want to turn away from discussions around blood in connection with Covenant. In this talk John expertly, practically and powerfully shows how we can connect the dots of Biblical history and show just how important this subject is!
God’s own nature is Covenant. The Godhead (Trinity) is the theology and the pattern for Covenant. By His divine power we have been included in the union of the Godhead.
This talk is all about the tithe, but rather than examining whether the tithe is still relevant or required - this talk reflects on how the tithe relates to our holistic relationship with God.
Sacrifice and offering are in his eternal nature. This sacrificial offering of himself had been in prospect since before the foundation of the world. His blood is described as the blood of the eternal covenant. Giving is a function of who he is – an eternal giver.
Too often Christians compartmentalise their lives into the sacred and the secular. Work often falls into the latter. Vocation is often disconnected from kingdom activity. At the best, it provides the financial necessary to support the church. At worst, it is a necessary evil that keeps people away from doing “real” ministry. But God’s radical call is not to retreat from culture, but to be present in every channel of culture (education, government, media, arts and entertainment, business, social sector).
The church has struggled at times to understand how it is called to relate to culture. Some Christian groups have withdrawn from culture. Others have blended so seamlessly into culture that nothing distinguished them from the rest of the world. The Bible calls those who follow Jesus to engage the culture.
Christians are often viewed as people who are easily offended. They are offended by the language people use, their lifestyles choices, and the values they proclaim. In response, those who do not follow Jesus have often defined themselves by what they are not offended by. The result is a world divided into the offended and the not offended. But the gospel is not about being offended.
The work of restoration is not individualistic in nature. From the very beginning God said, “It is not good for man to be alone.” The Garden experience was one of authentic community. The promise of the gospel is that one day this community will be restored.
The restoration that God wants to do in the world begins with the restoration he wants to do in the lives of those who follow him. Too often the “world changing” work of God becomes so outward focused that people lose their sense of spiritual grounding and become spiritually distracted.
The gospel begins not with the Fall, but with the beauty of the Garden. Life as God created it to be. Life before the destructiveness and self-centredness of sin entered into the world. God is on mission to restore humanity and all creation to what was intended to be.

Christ has called all true believers to be His Church and He has promised to be always in the midst even of two or three who gather together in His name. Therefore where God is, there is His temple.
The biblical account of Jesus' death on the cross, or crucifixion, his burial and his resurrection, or raising from the dead, can be found in the following passages of Scripture: Matthew 27:27-28:8; Mark 15:16-16:19; Luke 23:26-24:35; and John 19:16-20:30.
Continuing our '7 Principles' series. The source of all honor is God on the basis of His position as sovereign Creator and of His character as a loving Father.
Taking Bread & Wine, The Lord’s Supper, Communion or Eucharist. This thing that we do when we eat the bread and drink the wine is called by many names, but they all refer to a time where we join together as a group of believers to remember what Christ has done for us.
