Episode #175: Alice Vaughn - Creator of Offensive Crayons, Co-Host of Two Girls, One Mic: The Porncast
Who's our guest? Alice Vaughn co-host of the comedy podcast Two Girls One Mic: The Porncast and the (in)famous creator of Offensive Crayons. On Two Girls, One Mic, which started in August 2018, Vaughn along with her co-host Yvette d'Entremont, share their mutual love of passing judgment on the many plot lines of hardcore porn, are bring the funny back to comedy as they help destroy society’s perception – and prejudices – about adult films in a playful way. With Offensive Crayons, Vaughn created an adults-only box of crayons for the wildly artistic with a healthy sense of humor – with names like Boner Bill Blue, Miscarriage Maroon, and Privilege (White), the inappropriately-named crayons have been banned from Amazon for “insulting children and Caucasians”. Why should you care? Fresh is the Word is fully behind sex work as work, and it should be treated as a real job and career without legislators targeting sex workers with laws that will create unnecessary obstacles for them, and also removing the negative stigmas associated to anything in the sex industry. Two Girls One Mic: The Porncast is an extremely funny podcast where Alice Vaughn and Yvette d'Entremont, who do not work in the porn industry at all themselves, interview actual people from porn where they do uncover societal obstacles that people in the industry have to go through. Much of the legislation (like FOSTA/SESTA) that is targeting the sex industry also affects the LGBTQ+ communities and other marginalized groups. While on Two Girls One Mic, you'll find them jovially reviewing porn flicks and exposing the obvious plot holes (and other holes) with a vast amount of dick and pussy jokes. What did we talk about? During our conversation, Alice Vaughn talked about how Two Girls One Mic: The Porncast got started and its growth, her background, the creation of Offensive Crayons and the backlash from Amazon, the progress the porn industry has made and how its innovations have helped other industries, fighting legislation targeted at the porn industry and how it affects other groups, and she even gave some recommendations for a few porn flicks that are entertaining to watch!
