Ep. 15: A Requiem For The Dark Man

Ep. 15: A Requiem For The Dark Man

In this episode, Paige B. and the crew pay their respects to prolific lyricist DMX, who has joined the ancestors at the age of 50. We talk about his remarkable life and career and the powerful impact he has had on the culture. Also, we also send our love and prayers to former Bad Boy artist Black Rob and discuss whether or not a union among artists can be feasible, although we agree that it is ABSOLUTELY necessary.

PLUS: We get the tea on Usher making it rain with his version of Monopoly money. Nick Cannon is expecting his 5th and 6th children (by his third baby mama): Is he really turning into Future with a turban? Also, we discuss having celebrities making the leap into politics, cultural appropriation, discrimination within different races, and MORE!

Ep. 14: Strictly For The Grown Folks

Ep. 14: Strictly For The Grown Folks

This week, the gang kicks off the episode with some well wishes for rapper DMX's recovery and a brief convo about his impact on Hip Hop. We also talk about the Verzuz battle between music icons Earth, Wind & Fire and The Isley Brothers: The wardrobe, the music, the epicness of it all. There is also a conversation about the Isleys' controversial decision to include their R. Kelly-penned hits in the battle, and we ask: is it REALLY possible to cancel R. Kelly completely?!

ALSO: An angry Burger King customer thinks she could "have it her way" with a gun. Paul Pierce gets the boot from ESPN after his after-hour antics hit the net. Boosie Badazz gets banned from Instagram (again) and begs Black creators to make a platform for him to display his ratchet content with no restrictions. We discuss why rappers are expected to be role models, whether they like it or not. And finally, Saweetie & Quavo's elevator tussle prompts an honest conversation about Domestic Violence in relationships.

Ep. 13: Get Thee Behind Me, Montero

Ep. 13: Get Thee Behind Me, Montero

Back like we never left!

After a two-week hiatus (which was two weeks longer than D-Zel hoped for, apparently), the crew is back for more foolishness. They talk about the rollout of Lil Nas X's controversial new song/video, "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)." Also, the Derrick Jaxn cheating scandal, Sharon Osborne is "encourage to resign" from "The Talk" after showing her racism, and what's next for VERZUZ! And much more!

Also, we learn that D-Zel really hates being wrong and not having the last word. And apparently, he has child-bearing hips....but that's neither here nor there.

Ep. 12: The Royal Flush

Ep. 12: The Royal Flush

In this episode, Paige B., Raka, and D-Zel talk about the shocking details of Oprah's interview with Prince Harry & Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex. We talk about the shocking details that led them to get the hell out of "Da' Palace" and what we hope for them in the future. Let's say we're shocked....but not THAT shocked.

We also talk about a Baltimore student who finds out that he has to repeat ALL FOUR YEARS of high school, despite the fact that the school kept promoting him anyway and he's in the TOP percentile of the class. Trust....EVERYBODY failed him. The mama, the teachers, the principal, the janitor....EVERYBODY!

Also, "Cancel Culture" wants all the smoke with Looney Tunes. With the release of "Space Jam: A New Legacy" right around the corner, find out why a NY Times opinion writer is attacking Pepe Le Pew and Speedy Gonzales. And Burger King's tone-deaf comment on International Women's Day is raising quite a few eyebrows. And much, much more!

Ep. 11: You're On That Dope, Ain't Ya?

Ep. 11: You're On That Dope, Ain't Ya?

This week, the gang's all here to talk about some hot topics. We talk about Tiger Woods' very serious car crash, Trump's tax returns finally getting released, and recap D'Angelo's EPIC solo VERZUZ concert (and who he was originally schedule to battle). Plus, we discuss the pros and cons of a Michigan bill proposal to allow bars to stay open until 4am to combat financial loss caused by the pandemic. The conversation then moves to the upcoming reboots to be featured on the Paramount+ app. (Side Note: Why do all these streaming services have to have a + in the title? Hmm...) FInally, we talk about Stevie Wonder getting the hell out of the U.S. and heading to the Motherland for good. And, of course, we talk about other stuff in between.

Also, we have determined that one of us may or may not need therapy...or rehab...or both.

Just....just listen, yall.

Ep. 10: Now With Extra Sriracha!

Ep. 10: Now With Extra Sriracha!

This week, we're joined by comedian and podcast host Kyndra Crump (IG: @idolizedynasty) for a funny, spicy conversation on hot topics. We discuss the end of Kim K. and Kanye's marriage, Bobby Shmurda's release from prison, scammers continuing to scam, and more. Honestly, this conversation has gone so many ways, and it is simply just hard to describe. We'll say it's part sex education, part therapy session, and all comedic calamity. Just listen and enjoy!

Ep. 9: God Forgives...Black Twitter Doesn't

Ep. 9: God Forgives...Black Twitter Doesn't

Today, the crew (minus Suzy) chime in on everything we've missed these past couple of weeks. The boys talk Super Bowl and whether or not Tom Brady's days of dominance are numbered. Plus, Justin Timberlake finally apologizes to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson for his past f*ckboy tendencies...but is it too little, too late?

Also, we weigh in on who should be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year, picking our top 5 nominees (and wonder why they're not in already). And of course, we talk about the Gorilla Glue fiasco and why people are mimicking this. This may be reason #1 as to why clout is a hell of a drug...or maybe there are really people who make super dumb decisions. You be the judge.

Ep. 8: So We're Gangbanging At The Max Now?!

Ep. 8: So We're Gangbanging At The Max Now?!

In today's episode, we talk about what we've learned from the Wendy Williams biopic & documentary on Lifetime, and apparently, we learned A LOT. Plus, the disturbing accusations against T.I. & Tiny Harris and the horrific domestic violence case with former Seattle Seahawks OT Chad Wheeler being accused of nearly killing his girlfriend.

We also talk about the "Jeanskirt Twitter" folk (shoutout to whoever made this phrase) having a fit over the viral silhouette challenge and Chloe Bailey (of Chloe & Halle) embracing her femininity on IG. Basically, they are pressed, have been pressed, and will forever be pressed. Sorry for them.

Later, we discussed stupid crimes in the news. Like, seriously, who would want to steal a WHOLE PORCH?! And also, find out which celebrity tried to put the blame on his brother for his drug bust. We can't make this up.

Finally, we pay homage to amazing folks who passed away this past week, including Hollywood icon Cicely Tyson and "Saved By The Bell" star Dustin Diamond. We talk about the legacies they left behind, and that led to an interesting observation from Raka that may or may not have inspired the title of this episode.

Ep. 7: We Did It, Joe!

Ep. 7: We Did It, Joe!

A lot has happened in the week since we've been on break, and we were so excited that our mics were hot...literally. (Hence, the distorted sound...sorry about that.) But anyway, we're back at it! This week, we celebrate the fact that Joe Biden is President, Kamala Harris is Vice President, and the White House has been fumigated and is ready for work. We discuss the work that's been put in so far, the Impeachment trial heading to the Senate, and of course, those Presidential Pardons that Trump placed at the last minute. Also, apparently, Trump set up his own office, "The Office of The Former President." .... Is that really a thing? Really?

We also discussed the Salt-N-Pepa biopic, and why in the entire hell DJ Spinderella was left out of putting her input in. Is it too personal, or is it just business? Plus, colorism in Hip-Hop (thanks a lot, Danileigh), a reality TV chef in jail on suspiction of murdering her foster child, and a fun conversation on love languages, inspired by Saweetie's revelation that she knew that her man loved her when he gave her the last piece of chicken. (Side note: We wonder what piece of chicken it was. Was it a wing? Was it the big breast? The world may never know.)

Finally, we reflect on the one year anniversary of the passing of NBA great Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and the seven other beautiful souls lost on that day. We talk about his impact on the world and why the rest of the year was complete trash after that. #LongLiveMamba #LongLiveMambacita

Ep. 6: Twitter Fingers Turn To Triggered Feelings

Ep. 6: Twitter Fingers Turn To Triggered Feelings

Okay....a LOT went down since last episode, so let's talk about it. In this episode, we talk about the aftermath of the U.S. Capitol Insurrection, triggered by Trump's inability to accept his rightfully earned "L." We discuss the fallout: the resignations, the arrests, and Trump being banned from almost every single social media app. Well....there's always OnlyFans, sir. (Start at 0:42) Elsewhere, we talk about Miya "SoHo Karen" Ponsetto finally being arrested for attacking the son of jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold...but not before flexing her privilege one last time with Gayle King. (20:30) We also talk about VP-Elect Kamala Harris' VOGUE covers and the surrounding hoopla (26:13), as well as VERZUZ going back to basics in the midst of rising COVID-19 cases. (34:09) We also get into the discussion on the newly confirmed relationship of Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey and why SHE is getting heat for doing what most 20-somethings should be doing anyway. No slut shaming out this way! (1:05:30) Finally, we talk about a unique case in Maryland's Appeals Court of a rapper who was found guilty of murder, and his rap freestyle being used as evidence to convict him, which leads to a small discussion on people misconstruing the 1st Amendment. Some folks didn't pay attention in Civics class, and it CLEARLY shows. (1:16:30)

Ep. 5: Where is Ja Rule When You Need Him?!

Ep. 5: Where is Ja Rule When You Need Him?!

First, let's start off by saying that editing this episode was hell (due to sound issues), so we don't have time stamps for this one. Therefore, here's the order that we went in.... roughly.
The conversation, as usual, kicks off with the three-ring circus going on at the White House this week. From Trump begging like Keith Sweat to GA's Secretary of State to "find" votes out of the sky, to the peanut gallery of GOP folks looking to object to the Electoral College votes, we break it down. Plus, "SoHo Karen" proclaims she's Puerto Rican...which, apparently, somehow exempts her from being a Karen. Whatever...
Also, we have a fun conversation about binge watching, including that "Bridgerton" show that everyone is talking about. Also, we pick out our favorite rappers-turned-actors, during which Suzy professes her "love" for Ja Rule, Master Thespian. (Seriously, she goes hard. Why, we don't know.) And we talk about rapper-turned-preacher-turned-rapper-turned-preacher again Ma$e's return to the pulpit...and let's just say, Raka is not too convinced.
Plus, the usual sibling rivalry between myself and D-Zel. You know...just another day.

Ep. 4: 2020....Please Make It Go Away.

Ep. 4: 2020....Please Make It Go Away.

In this episode, we talk all about the latest Stimulus package that's on the way...but will it really be worth it? (1:33) Also, in "This Week In White Privilege" news (15:13), it's all about the Georgia teen busted for violating COVID-19 guidelines in the Cayman Islands, Full House's  "Aunt Becky" being released from prison, and the random woman harassing a Grammy-winning trumpeter and his teen son over a cell phone. Later, a meme about boys dressing as princesses lead to a conversation about gender roles, representation of the LGBTQ+ community, and how kids should be introduced to that conversation (36:21).

On a somewhat lighter note, we talk about the highs and lows of this dumpster fire of a year. (47:15) Plus, we talk about weird ass baby names. Yes, we're talking about you, Nick Cannon and Elon Musk...respectfully. (It's all love. Please don't sue us.) (1:12:55) And Lifetime has some explaining to do with these biopic casting choices. (1:15:10)

Back to the serious stuff: With the recent destruction of a Breonna Taylor sculpture in Oakland, CA, we had to wonder... what's next in our fight for social justice and equality? (1:29:08) Finally, we have our parting words for 2020....Sort of. (1:37:44)

2021 can't come soon enough.....Just saying.

Ep. 3: Is it Safe to Go Outside Yet?

Ep. 3: Is it Safe to Go Outside Yet?

In this episode, we talk about Joe Biden winning the Presidency officially, thanks to the Electoral College. Going forward, what does this mean? (2:40) Also, the first COVID-19 vaccines are being distributed, but are we too paranoid to take it right away? We discuss our reservations.  (12:45)

Elsewhere, we talk about the Ashanti/Keyshia Cole VERZUZ battle that definitely didn't happen (because COVID ruins everything). But at least we have E-40 vs. Too $hort to look forward to! Plus, we discuss our dream matchups and folks being worried that VERZUZ may be going "too Hollywood."  (22:55) Also, we give sports updates, including Cleveland's baseball team changing their name and LiAngelo Ball getting dropped by the Pistons (48:32). And Shad Moss (formerly known as Bow Wow) wants to bring back 106 & Park....in Atlanta?! (1:01:42) That leads to a conversation on BET then vs. now. What's missing?

And much....much more!

Ep. 2: Y.O.U.R.E. B.A.N.N.E.D.... Do You Know What That Means?

Ep. 2: Y.O.U.R.E. B.A.N.N.E.D.... Do You Know What That Means?

In this episode, we had a lot to say! After a brief talk about the current state of our government (at 3:00), we discuss rapper Boosie Badazz's pending lawsuit against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg over his banishment from Instagram (14:57). Does he have a case, or is this his own fault? That transitions into an interesting discussion on the idea of toxic masculinity (27:00).  On a lighter note, we give props to the "Clapback Kings & Queens of TV," (42:30), discuss the interesting collab between Lifetime TV and KFC (1:00:00), share our favorite Holiday tunes (1:16:25), and more sports/entertainment news. And finally, towards the end, we get an unexpected (but quite entertaining) rant from Raka about potential VERZUZ matchups that make no sense. (1:57:18)

Ep. 1: We Don't Know What We're Doing....Blame Covid.

Welcome to the first episode! Paige B. is joined by Suzy Bougie, Raka Bash, and D-Zel as they cover various topics. Included: Dealing with the pandemic and the current state of our government; the Tyson/Jones Jr. fight (and the Robinson/Paul undercard); celebrities ruining OnlyFans for the rest of us; Grammy snubs (and whether that even matters) and more!

Let's just say....this sets a VERY interesting tone for the rest of this podcast.
