Being Local to WNC (Western North Carolina) we care deeply about our community and environment. Climate change is a large social issue, so we decided to research the topic of sustainable agriculture. Amy Boyd and Josua Arnold are professors at Warren Wilson College, they provided us with information and insight on this topic. In our podcast, we discuss farming, sustainable systems, livestock, and local vegetation; all of these things have been and will continue to be affected by climate change.

You may not always see it on the news, but between 200-2000 animals go extinct every year. It’s a prevailing problem; one not with a simple solution. In other words, it goes beyond just switching to solar panels. Our society relies on the environment, but also damages it through infrastructure, plastic pollution, etc. We have told some of our own personal stories with the loss of biodiversity and talked to a professional on the subject, Caitlin Worth. With Ms. Worth we discussed geography's effect and influence toward biodiversity, symbiotic relationships, and invasive species so that we may raise awareness towards the importance of protecting our natural habitat and all the species that live in it.

We interviewed the education and outreach manager of RiverLink, Justin Young. We are discussing the flood of 1916, the benefits of flooding, and on the flip side, the damages flooding causes. Through a number of questions, learn with us about how flooding affects the environment and the people living in it!

We interviewed Caroline Kennedy, a specialist in salamanders and biologist, who took us out into the environment and talked to us all about salamanders and the effects climate change has on them and the world. In this podcast we talk about the infamous and deadly cycle of not considering the environment and its effects.

Before we started making this podcast, we worked with Energy Savers Network to weatherize a home. After working with ESN, we then interviewed one of the co-founders, Brad Rouse. In this podcast you will learn of climate change, what you can do to help mitigate climate change, and learn more about ESN. This whole experience gave us a new outlook on how the world is changing. 

What is happening,? What we can do?  How can we stop this? All these questions will be answered in this podcast. 

This podcast is about Hickory Nut Gap Farm, and how it's being affected by climate change. We talked to Walker Sides, the farm manager. We learned about the extreme weather events he has experienced through working there for 10 years. He has noticed many changes, and this podcast discusses them. Listen to find out more. 

In this episode, FSI student Keagan C. and his group talk about how bees are affected by climate change. An expert beekeeper discusses the problems that bees are having like colony collapse disorder. Questions arise regarding whether colony collapse disorder and climate change are related or not. 

We follow Chris Smith as he explains the effects of climate change on our atmosphere and how that is going to affect us in the future. As he explains how climate change is badly affecting us to day and will continue to in the future, Chris also offers some solutions, using okra as an example. We are also inspired by his example and decide that compost is a good way for our school to contribute.

In this podcast, our group discussed with the Training and Safety Director of Outward Bound Alex Schwartz. He explains how climate change is progressively getting worse. This gave the group a better understanding of the situation and helped us in taking steps to heal our world.

Young people have a lot to learn, including how to take care of our earth and help make sure that we have a future to look forward to. Steven Norris, a local climate change activist, helped us learn more about what we can do for our planet. 

FSI students Jay E. and Ryan W. speak about greenhouse gases and their effects such as flooding, glaciers melting. and coastal regions with sea level rise. In addition they address how greenhouse gases cause flooding and changes in the water for many different places. They end on what we can do about it.

As young people, it can be overwhelming trying to inform ourselves on Climate Change and how we can change this world for the better. Let us teach you about phenological mismatch and Nature's Notebook and how you can make a difference.

Our group interviewed Asher Wright, a farmer at Warren Wilson  College about climate change variability on the farm. In our podcast we discussed how climate change affects all the different aspects of a farm. Asher tells us how the weather affects the animals and the food we all eat.  Climate change effects more than you would think, in this episode we discuss how climate change affects personal lives and the standard of living.

In our podcast we talk about climate change and how its effecting our earth. We interviewed an Eco-forester Andy Tait, who talks about whats it's like to be an Eco-forester and how he is helping the environment  every day and how we need to step up against deforestation. People all around the world are affected by climate change everyday, and if we don't stop it soon it will only get worse.  In our podcast we talk about the ways you can help this global issue.

Climate change is having a negative effect on our environment, including more extreme weather events. The greenhouse gases we emit aren't helping but the City of Asheville is implementing policies and projects to reduce our emissions. We talked to Amber Weaver, the Head of the Department of Sustainability, to go find out about these policies and projects. In this podcast we share what we learned from her, as well as sharing the additional research we did on specific organizations trying to reduce their emissions. Then we talked to Sophie Mullinax, the Blue Horizons Project coordinator for more info on the policy that created the project. To conclude our podcast, we share an easy tip you can follow to reduce your emissions and save money.
