It’s like finding a box of old photographs that shows your mom & dad when they were young & really madly in love each other, or discovering a new watering hole hidden from sight for years....

“We honour John Lennon as the composer of an entire library of great songs, and we mourn him as an emblematic martyr to the darker side of contemporary celebrity culture… John Lennon was a profoundly flawed human being in any number of ways, but, damaged as he was, his greatest gift was his ability to speak so directly to our dreams.”       Charles Shaar Murray

Hey Boomer! The Credibility Gap

Hey Boomer! The Credibility Gap

What's happened to good taste? Apparently, television doesn't care. It's not enough to portray the modern home life anymore, Sitcoms have to be as raunchy and in-your-face as possible, even the titles! Gone are the days of I Love Lucy and Ozzy & Harriet, and it seems like that's going to be the way it stays.

In this week's episode I'm ranting a little bit about the degradation of entertainment in title & content. So feel free to join me!

Defining Classic Rock: It's Complicated...

Depending on who you ask, you get a different answer. So, I did just that. I asked my Facebook fan page when, as they saw it, Classic Rock became classic rock. I got a whole myriad of answers, from the 60's to "never!" But some repeated dates and answers stuck out.

Tune in to this week's episode of Full Circle Analog as we ask and answer, "what is classic rock?" "When is classic rock?" "Why is classic rock?" and more!

Happy New Year - 1970!

Happy New Year - 1970!

It was 50 years ago today, and boy was it a year. The start of a new decade is always a nervous and exciting time, as a lot can happen in 10 years, or is it just another day?

In our first episode for 2020, I'm taking a look back at the year 1970. The Beatles 'Let It Be' and broke up, followed by the 1st of the their solo albums and the subsequent questions of, "Where do we go from here?" without them?

The floodgates that the Beatles opened in the early sixties for new bands exploded in several directions in 1970. The new decade in music proved not to be a disappointment, but an even bigger influence on modern culture! Join me as we see how it started, won't you?

There is much more to discuss, more anniversaries coming up this year, and we'll try to cover more of the 1970's in 2020! For now, you can check us out at fb.me/FCAnalog for updates on when our newest episodes of the year go live. Thanks for tuning in!

"Do You Remember: The 5th of November?" Remember - John Lennon (off Plastic Ono Band)

"Do You Remember: The 5th of November?" Remember - John Lennon (off Plastic Ono Band)

Do you remember the 5th day of November? Well you should! John Lennon told you to Remember in his 1970 release of the song on the Plastic Ono Band album, the album with two different covers.

Something that always puzzled me is: Why? What happened on the 5th of the November? And why does the song end with a crescendo in the form of a violent explosion? And why are there two different covers?

Well the answer was absolutely fascinating! I first tried to find out if any famous people had birthdays, but nothing stuck out. That was until an article popped up on my personal feed a few years ago. It talked all about a very specific holiday from across the pond, and why Lennon told us to remember it!

So join me in this week’s episode of Full Circle Analog as I cover some other reasons to remember the 5th of November, as well as the big one!

What Makes a Hero Super?

What Makes a Hero Super?

Alec has a solo episode this week, talking about a subject that is near and dear to him: The Marvel Cinematic Universe. As requested by Brad, Alec tries to explain why Superheroes are important, and how they've transitioned over the years into telling more human stories, in spite of their superhuman qualities.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe sees 22 movies and dozens of characters fight various villains, including themselves. This is a stark contrast to the original Batman cartoon, featuring Adam West, which was altogether silly and light-hearted; to The Dark Knight, which deals with Anarchy and Order, as well as insanity and sanity.
