Goals and Goal Setting in Therapy

Goals and Goal Setting in Therapy

In this episode I talk with Nick, a child behavioral health clinician, and my regular co-host, Nancy, about goal setting in therapy. The process of determining the appropriate goals, setting those goals, and how those goals evolve and are re-evaluated over time.

"How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." Goals are meant to be steps, one at a time. Maybe your first goal is to reach out for help weather that be making an appointment with a clinician or asking a friend or family member for help. If you or anyone you know needs help, reach out. We are here!

Transitions

Transitions

This podcast is all about dealing with change. Fall is a time for change and adjustments as people return to school and work. This year expects to be one of many transitions as people are more likely to return to activities they haven't since before the pandemic. Our podcast is co-hosted by Nancy at MENTOR South Bay and our guest this week is one of their clinicians, Maia Roper. We talk about recognizing the changes and behaviors that might signal a need for treatment. We also examine the process of reaching out for help and the assessment process.

Covid Anxiety

Covid Anxiety

Fuller Hospital and MENTOR South Bay partner to bring you this podcast. Chris and Brittany with Fuller bring in Nancy at South Bay to discuss the anxiety and other feelings associated with Covid. Our special guest, Chuck Vohs, provides information based on his direct treatment with patients since the pandemic. Per the CDC, the percentage of adults with symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorders increased from 36.4% to 41.5% from August 2020 to February 2021. In just six months, that's a 10% increase of significant anxiety and depression symptoms. That's something like 12 million adults. This info doesn't even represent adolescents!
