Ghosts in the Attic Bodies in the Basement

Well, listeners. This episode is incredibly late. I apologize for that.

If you remember, the whole schtick of the show has been we're in a literal mansion called Rosewood Manor during the show, talking about ghosts up in the attic and crime down in the basement. And sometimes meeting in the sitting room for the in between stuff. Well, I regret to inform you that today we are in the sitting room of the manor and I am putting sheets over the furniture and boarding up the windows. For now, anyways.

It's GABB's second birthday! For Lindsey, it's a little bittersweet for several reasons. But let's keep things light and fun this week. The show started with Irish Folklore, and Ireland is our newest location of listeners, so let's dive into some hauntings in Ireland!

Happy Valentine's Day! Because my brain can't handle a themed episode that comes out a few days later than the actual holiday, this week's episode is releasing early!!! Here's some love stories that ended in hauntings! And, the tragic origination of St. Valentine's Day! Enjoy!

We all know that Lindsey loves anime (just look at the Shinigami episode!). To those who celebrate, Happy Thanksgiving from GABB! This episode drops on Black Friday here in the US, which is a major retail "holiday," but simple holiday shopping can turn out to be....absolutely horrific. From stampedes, to shootings, to exhausted shoppers and workers, Black Friday isn't so great for a lot of people. 

The episode also touches on a lesser known possible first "Thanksgiving" in St. Augustine, FL, that may still be haunted today. 

It's deer hunting season over here in the US, which means we're watching those trail cams for deer activity and....well, other things! 

First, I go into the lore of the modern cryptid Not Deer, which looks like a deer but it's just.....not right. 

Then, I go into the murder of Garrett Wilson, whose alleged killer was spotted on a trail cam next to the remains.

IT'S LINDSEY'S BIRTHDAY!! 

While Lindsey wasn't born the same day an infamous serial killer was executed like Anna was, we still wanted to cover a story that related to the date. So, in this episode, Lindsey and Anna dive into the life and death of Marilyn Monroe, whose body was tragically discovered on August 5, 1962, the conspiracy theories surrounding her death, ghost sightings of the megastar and more. 

Lindsey and Anna are BACK after Anna's health scare to discuss the thrilling book "I Eat Men Like Air" by Alice Berman. And it all frankly boils down to one classic ethics question: Is murder justified in some situations? (Spoiler alert: We don't think so!)

IMPORTANT NOTE: It seems contradictory to do an episode dedicated to a man we feel gets too much coverage in true crime, but there's honestly too much to cover in his case to fit into one episode. The topic of Ted Bundy's case opens the door to a larger conversation that we intend to dive into in later episodes on the sensationalism and romanticism of killers in the rise of true crime entertainment media. We at GABB felt that, with the interesting anecdote from Anna, it was a good place to start. We hope everyone understands that and stay tuned for more!
