Who is the meanest in Mean Girls? Pt. 1

Who is the meanest in Mean Girls? Pt. 1

In 2004, Tina Fey adapted Rosalind Wiseman's high school self-help book "Queen Bees and Wannabees" into a comedy screenplay. With help from longtime Saturday Night Live producer, Lorne Michaels the movie was made and set a unique standard for what can be done, and said, in a female-led comedy. Join us as we talk about the hoops that Fey had to jump through to have a graphically hilarious menstruation joke in a PG-13 movie, and what exactly constitutes a pie versus a cobbler.

-This is a relatively spoiler-free discussion of the movie, join in next week as we break down all of the best jokes of the movie in full-spoiler alert fashion.

The Ladykillers V. The Ladykillers

The Ladykillers V. The Ladykillers

Full transparency, there were production problems with this episode and a large part of the recording was lost, then re-recorded, then lost again. I'm exhausted. Hopefully we will make it up you, dear fellow goofball listener, by doing a deep-dive on Legally Blonde 2 in the near future.

CB4 and Fear of a Black Hat: Which is the Better 1993 Gangsta Rap Parody?

CB4 and Fear of a Black Hat: Which is the Better 1993 Gangsta Rap Parody?

In 1993 two films came out, one shortly after the other. One, an indie darling that took Sundance by storm and received plenty of critical praise but barely made a whimper at the box office. The other, a bit more of a studio flick that made about double its budget back at the box office but didn't really gel with critics. Both were parodies of the state of gangsta rap at the time that were heavily inspired by 1984's This is Spinal Tap, and both had many instances of similar jokes and story beats. Today we're talking about CB4 starring Chris Rock and directed by Tamra Davis and Fear of a Black Hat directed by and starring Rusty Cundieff.
