He became passionate with grooming products in 2014 but didn’t start hand brewing until 2015. Finding a formula that will not only style hair but promote healthy hair growth became an obsession. It wasn’t until the early months of 2017 when he was able to brew the perfect blend of oils that would set the standard for future products. Johnny Slicks aspires to help and educate everyone through his products and experiences. Raider Project Director Nick Koumalatsos interviews Johnny about overcoming fears and adversity post service.

Words from Simon "A while back I had the opportunity to talk with Veteran Zach Ceballos, who now works with GallantFew to help other veterans achieve a civilian life full of purpose and hope. Zach's courage to share his story—of how rediscovering his sense of purpose post-combat saved his life—inspires me more than the words. And we hope that it will help many veterans and non-veterans reach out for help.

He holds the distinguished honor of being the first nationally recognized radio talk show personality who is also a combat veteran from the current war. Mary Elaine Baker - Military Spouse Gives Veterans Flexible Job Opportunities
Mary Elaine Baker and her husband Brett conceived of Patriot Advantage as a means of giving the spouses of military and public servants flexible job opportunities while meeting the needs of their clients. Patriot Advantage is a military spouse and veteran-owned boutique business that provides virtual administrative and marketing solutions for business owners and entrepreneurs who are task saturated.
Recognizing the untapped potential of military spouses who often have difficulty maintaining traditional employment, they conceived of Patriot Advantage not just as a business opportunity but also as a vehicle for creating positive social impact by matching this talent pool and others who share the company’s values with entrepreneurs who needed to focus their time on their core business.
We are thrilled to host Mary Elaine at GallantFew's VetXpo October 25-27th in Dallas, TX.

PTSD - THE NEW ENEMY
This week held PTSD Awareness Day. But it's time to stop labeling this as a disorder. This is the body's natural response to trauma, but some how people believe if you go through it so much you become hardened to the experience, better able to deal with it? Makes sense, you know if you continually rip the scab off an open wound it heals, right? NOT. Doesn’t make sense at all, it ignores basic understanding of the brain’s ability to capture and store memories. We believe in working through these traumas with innovative measures, without drugs, without immersion, and we are seeing HUGE success. If you or a loved one is dealing this we would like to introduce you to Burris Emotional Fitness Coaching and the Gallantfew Family of Organizations. PLEASE reach out!

The Million Meter Row - Raising Awareness for GWOT Veteran
Executive Director Karl Monger and VetRec Nick Ostrowski discuss the importance of raising awareness for Veteran's transitional struggles. Creating campaigns that are connecting civillians to veterans in order to change the narrative. Impacting fundraisers like VetRec's Million Meter Row are changing the way the our country sees veterans. Roughly 20 veterans a day commit suicide nationwide, according to new data from the Department of Veterans Affairs — a figure that dispels the often quoted, but problematic, “22 a day” estimate yet solidifies the disturbing mental health crisis the number implied.” Our purpose is to raise money and awareness for United States Military Veterans. In its third year, the Million Meter Row brings together 40 teams each rowing 25,000 meters to reach 1,000,000 meters for the day on Concept2 stationary rowing machines. June 1st, 2019 Million Meter Row. -WRAP

Functional Emotional Fitness - With Dr. Kelly Burris
Our government's response is one-size-fits-all, the VA is slow to serve and those serving the tip of the spear have difficulty asking for help when they return home. Many of our GWOT veterans have lost purpose and hope. It Starts with a lack of identity after military service, which can make one feel like he or she does not fit or belong. This can translate into frustration with schools, jobs and family relationships and can be exacerbated by alcohol and drug abuse, NOT to mention the cocktails of prescription drugs issued by the VA for anxiety and insomnia. Left unchecked, it feeds isolation.
GallantFew Focuses on Functional Fitness.
So what is Functional Fitness? Functional means usable in daily life. Fitness means it can be measured and with intentional planning and focus can be improved. In this podcast Karl Monger and Dr. Kelly Burris from The Burris Institute discuss Burris Coaching and how it can change your spiritual, social, professional, physical and emotional wellbeing.

Why We Climb - Nate Lowe
Karl sits down with Nate Lowe, and Army veteran who shares how the GallantFew Climbing Program has changed his life. Climbing is very relatable to life. "THE GOAL IS AT THE TOP, BUT THE TASK IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. YOU HAVE TO FOCUS AND BE IN THE MOMENT. ONE DISTRACTION, ONE LOOK AWAY, ONE THOUGHT ON SOMETHING ELSE BESIDES WHAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU; AND YOU MISS YOUR NEXT STEP. YOU HAVE TO FOCUS ON EACH HOLD, EACH STEP, AND ONE INCH AT A TIME YOU WILL ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL."
